Yes Diane. I lost my self esteem due to my family issues feeling I wasn't loved because they cut me out of their lives. It's been very difficult but a few years back I found you and your videos motivated me to get back on track with my house. I learnt not to feel over whelmed when everything felt a mess and I didn't know where to start. You truly have been a motivator.
I looked at the dressing your truth a few years ago and loved hiw it works but still couldn't work out what I was 🤔. Maybe I'll revisit that again because my wardrobe is a real sticking point for me.
Thank you for all your videos. I too don't comment as much as I used to but I do enjoy watching you 😊

Your comment about never feeling pretty as a child really resonanted with me, i was a pretty child but teenage years were awful, copying trends, and hairstyles, trying to look like someone else just didnt work. 20s & 30s a bit easier with uniform of suits for working in the city, mid thirties to mid 40s got a bit lost just being a mum, having clean clothes was the main aim. Turned 50 in August and a combination of DYT but also knowing and accepting myself and my shape, knowing the boho is never going to look good on me has helped me find confidence, and am even taking time to accessorise. I look at my daughter who is 14, gorgeous and makes the most of herself, and am glad she doesnt seem to have such struggles at the moment ...... although am keeping a close eye as think her generation will have different issues around perfection with social media and influencers painting unrealistic/unattainable images. So glad us more mature women are coming into our own 🎉🎉🎉

I remember when you did this interview! I am almost 50 and still struggle with this aspect of my life. My goal is to have a capsule wardrobe. Haven’t bought anything in years but slowly have been decluttering my closet. Hearing your “whys” when you decide to declutter a clothing item has helped me tremendously. I am hoping to be decluttered enough by next summer to slowly incorporate some clothing pieces that suit me better and hopefully from a clothes swap ❤

I'm nearing 50 as well and had to leave a physically demanding job so it's a struggle to find work and my place and purpose in this world. To add to that, I'm perimenopausal plus I found out I have an autoimmune disease to do with an underactive thyroid so the weight gain has been steady. Accepting where I am today and having zero tolerance for ill-fitting clothes had given me a great start toward getting my confidence back. Good luck with your journey too!

      @suzanne-moore Год назад +1

@@jennyjenkins877 it’s difficult when we have challenges to overcome but seems like you are doing great figuring out what suits you best. I think if I had to find my style for work, this issue would be more pressing for me. I work in the spa industry and we usually wear all black ( or white but my spa currently is all black) and I really dislike black clothing. Also live in a warm weather climate so that also limits clothing down and can get a bit boring and for me, when i get bored; I lose interest quickly. I have a few outfits I usually lean on when I need to be extra confident. I just need to get rid of the rest and build on the piece I love and make it a priority.

Boundaries. That's the key to self respect and confidence. No more putting up with living by the it's nice to be nice rule. It is nice to be nice, but no to the point of being walked over, belittled and bullied. I've never tried to make sense of what I like to wear, but being autistic I can go from colours defining what I put on to only wearing a certain style. Like with food, I can have the same thing every day for 6 months then never eat it again.😂 I loved this deeper dive into what lights your candles ! Hope you're having a rerr time. ❤

Hi Diane, This is a fantastic interview, and you deserve every single accolade you get. What you put out into the world is so joyous, you radiate life, health, beauty, community and you’ve been so generous sharing so much with us over the years. I’ve followed you and been inspired by you for maybe 7/8 years now, and despite your success, you remain so humble and down-to-earth.
What’s helped me feel more confident in my style, as well as constant decluttering, is choosing a smaller colour palette, less pattern and so most of my clothes “go” together well, I no longer waste time “creating outfits”. I try to buy less, but better quality and care for my clothes and shoes well so they earn their keep. I realised that thrifting fast fashion items was cluttering up my wardrobe, so I only thrift things like wool winter coats now, choosing to buy the rest of my wardrobe in sales / shops so I value the items more.

Hi Diane, your personality has always been shining through, no matter what clothes you were wearing, but after using DYT it was easier to see, kind of polished… I’d never considered myself a type 1 without reading (studying) Carol's book, but I’m the 'floppy' type 1, never wearing jackets, if I can avoid it, loving silk and viskose, waving around me. Although I’ve radically given away all super dark stuff, my small wardrobe seems to explode at times and there are these boxes… thank you for your honesty. There are times in life we simply can’t follow our decisions. But routines are helpers and people with the same experiences, too. Almost no words needed, we recognize each other. Off topic: I’m an autumn bather 🍂🏊‍♀🍁now, found a wonderful retro 'badeanstalt' in Rudkøbing, where I can swim every day in the sea, if the grass at our beach is too much (ulekker). Meeting some elderly ladies like me (and even older) every day, enjoying some hyggesnak…Love from Denmark 🇩🇰 and thank you and Carol so much for sharing, Monika❣

I also did the quiz, and also came out type four, but I am anything but type for it turns out! I would look into facial profiling in the beginners course on the website as well. I found that I had been thinking I should be, and as a type one easily adjusted to acting as, a type 4 in the surroundings I am in, even when it didn’t always agree with me so to speak.
You may very well be type 4, I can’t say! Just saying that sometimes the quiz just gives you an idea, but not a true identification.

I love that you said you knew women would find you when they needed to because that's exactly what happened to me. I first found your channel in 2017 after I was coming off a particularly bad case of flu that left me bedridden for three weeks and without any energy for a long time and my house was a mess. I remember how hopeful I felt when you said to just set a timer for 15 minutes and do what you can. Technically I did not find DYT through you, but when somebody mentioned it on a thread under someone else’s video in Feb. 2021, and I googled it, one of your videos about the subject came up. Since I knew you and had watched some of your videos, I went there first. So you were kind of like a bridge into it. :-)
I now know that I am a type 1/3. A lot of me struggles with resisting almost any kind of routine, even setting a timer is not necessarily a big motivation for me. Yet as I grow and shift energetically and keep making changes in my home, it’s feeling so much more peaceful! 😊❤ I guess I’m figuring out what works for me, sifting and sorting, taking ideas from different people, and keeping what works. And there’s no doubt still more to come!

Thank you Diane it was really great to see your interview with Carol. What I really love about your channel is your natural energy. It’s so uplifting. I also appreciate that you don’t make those slick videos with music. I enjoyed my coaching session last year and found it so helpful. Looking forward to more motivation to keep decluttering. Thanks again for being such a bright spot in my day. Cheers Wendy

Oh Diane, I enjoyed this so much. I got up extra early so I could watch it before work. Being a solid Type 1 (secondary 4 I think) I always draw inspiration from you but fall off from practicing it myself consistently. When you said "Oh I don't want to be cute" and Carol said that's a common reaction for Ones, my jaw dropped. Because part of my resistance has been not being taken seriously. But I realize, just by being myself I am taken seriously quite often. It's definitely a learning curve and I so much appreciate you being a guide. Thank you for just being you. Sending you my sincerest gratitude ❤

Yay, glad you enjoyed it, Liz! And now, please step away from the black, ha ha! Carol made a great point once about T1s. When we dress in black (or the wrong colours), especially in business situations, we come across as less serious because our energy/brightness doesn't match what we are wearing. We show much more authority when we are in sync. Funnily enough, when I worked at the Court, I always wore navy suits (very rarely black). My sixth sense was working back then!

Oh Diane, how come I've just found this lovely long video of yours?! For what it's worth, I always think you look fabulous, right from the beginning of your RUclips journey. You're a very stylish lady 😊 Since I was a child, I have been into tidiness, decluttering, creating order where there is none (I was such a fun child 😂). I think it's just my personality. I don't thrive where there's lots of 'stuff'. I, like manu women in our age group, have struggled with clothes and style. I've flirted with all the various systems, DYT, Colour me Beautiful, Project 333, capsule wardrobes, and feel like it's gradually coming together for me. I am gliding towards retirement (have lots of plans!) and as Dawn at The Minimal Mom says, I'm realising that there are seasons in our lives, and we need to let things go as we move from one season to another. I'm really embracing that this year, I even have a word of the year - Simplify 😊 You are a shining testimonial for DYT, I think I'll look into it again. X

I just finished watching your video, Diane and it was fabulous. You always speak from the heart, and you are a genuine and caring person. I love how you share your outings and holidays, they are always great fun. You have helped me with my routines too. I’m a pretty organised person but needed some help with implementing routines and zone cleaning. Your phone is great too for filming. I like how you mention to ‘like’ your videos at the end because I can get so in grossed I forget 😊. Keep doing what you’re doing Diane and thank you❣️
