Travel Nurse of 18 years & it's a fabulous way to get experience in other disciplines of Nursing! I went from Neuro/Trauma to Cardio/Thoracic to General ICU! It's usually a 13 week assignment with options to renew! You can go home between assignments to be with family! Also, you can manipulate your schedule to go home while on assignment!

A big congratulations, lovely, hardworking, Sarah, on passing the NY State RN Exam! Good Job! You are BLESSED with a loving and supportive mate, too. Btw, I think America, in general, has a nursing shortage, and with your experience, you could probably easily get a visa and a work permit. I have an autoimmune disease which at times results in my having to be hospitalized on occasion for treatment, and a large percentage of the nursing staff consists of people who aren't Americans, in fact, most of these guest workers seem to be from the Philipines, Africa, or the Caribbean. Since you have close, helpful relatives who are already working as medical people on Long Island, that, at least to me, seems like a good opportunity to earn those needed 250 hours. May God continue to BLESS you and your beautiful family. 👍❤🙏

Congratulations!! So proud of you on passing the exam!! I had a similar journey as you in terms of studying and passing a hard exam with toddlers. I was in the processing of taking the CPA exam and it’s broken up into 4 parts. I had three parts passed and took the 4th and made a 73 (I needed a 75 to pass). I gave birth to triplets 2 months later and lost the credit for the other 3 exams and had to start over from scratch in the following year.
Between March 2015-August 2015, I took all 4 exams and passed them all with 4 kiddos ages 2 and under. I also was in the midst of going through a divorce and working full time at one of the big 4 CPA firms. It was the hardest and most rewarding things I have ever done besides my raising my kids. We have to renew our license every year and I’m still in shock that I was able to accomplish it.
Just like you said I studied at every opportunity and answering practice questions every day. I am proud of you and
I agree with the others, find a time in the spring/summer to spend a month in NY and get the 250 hours. You’ll be paid so you won’t risk your income. NY taxes are a little tricky, so remember about those when the following tax year comes about.

Congratulations Sarah. I’m so proud of you. I felt your emotions and I can appreciate the journey. I’m so proud of Justin also for his support of you. I’m so shocked about Canada and all of the red tape but this is my suggestion.
I think you should go ahead and apply for the work visa and start applying for RN positions in NYC now. Don’t wait! I know you said you have to save up but you said so yourself, you are a major procrastinator and I fear, if you wait, 3-years will go by and you’re kicking yourself. At the beginning of this video, you said your sister challenged the board and you wished you had when she did it. Let’s not let this same scenario play out again. You want this, Justin is there to support you, go ahead and make the sacrifice and get it done ASAP. This is the advice I would give my own daughter.
Once you get hired, go to NYC, do not tell your NYC employer’s about this RUclips channel and do not tell them you plan on resigning after you get your hours. Get your hours and a little over, the time will go fast then resign and return home but before you resign, apply for RN positions in Canada and ask for relocation.
I know you are worried about being away from the girls but being in the military, moving around with and without my kids, they adjust and they don’t even remember me being gone when they were little because the time of separation was so quick. Trust me. You’re doing this for them, Justin, and the 5 of you and anything that’s worth having is worth the sacrifice. It will be hard but you can get through it.

Oh Wow!!! After hearing the full story I think with you having four family members that work at different hospitals I think you will have more of an opportunity to get a job as a R.N. to complete what you need for certification purposes to work in a Canadian hospital. It is a journey that you would need to go through but only for a short period of time. Hopefully this helps; I will keep you and your family in prayer 🙏 in your decision making.

Now I am retired and I am still thankful to our Lord that I passed it . 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Congratulations , the possibilities of working in America are endless 🎊🎈🍾🎉Search for a hospital/ nursing home anywhere in New York that will petitions for nurses under working or permanent visa ( in your case it’s easier because you have the license already .
