- Join us as we explore San Marcos TX! There are a ton of fun things to do and great places to eat in San Marcos, which sits right on the meeting point of the Texas Blackland Prairie and the Texas Hill Country. We returned to Pecan Park Riverside RV Park, just outside of town to serve as our home base during our stay. This family-owned RV park feels almost like a campground with its mature trees and location right on the San Marcos River. It is super convenient to everything in San Marcos and a quiet place to relax after a day of exploring.
Thank you to fellow RVer and our neighbor during our stay, Don Wilson of Dallas Ring Finders, for the drone footage of Pecan Park. Check out his RUclips Channel: / @dallasringfinders5764

Thanks for joining us! We had a GREAT time exploring San Marcos! So much to do around that area, and such an interesting ecosystem. Thanks again to Don of Dallas Ring Finders for the drone footage of Pecan Park. We've put a link to his channel in the description so you can check it out! We've also put links to all of the places we visited in the description.
My father was born in San Marcos in 1895. We took our kids there in 1985 and went on the glass bottom boats. Wonder Cave and the Antigravity House. It was a great time and they all remember it still. Great video.
Thanks
We love that park!
Aquarena Springs. Now that brings back some 70's memories!
😁
What a wonderful video. I felt like I could stay in San Marcos, forever! Such a gorgeous area!

You’re welcome Carson! We always enjoy visiting San Marcos.
That campsite was really nice. That area looked incredible.
We really enjoyed it!
Very well done.. Thank you for sharing...
Thank you!
I too spent many days as a child and young adult at Aquarena Springs, I loved it! I was so sad to see that it is no more, however, it is wonderful that it has been conserved for research. Thanks for invoking all those special childhood memories for those of us who remember Aquarena Springs!
Absolutely Mark! Wasn’t Aquarena Springs awesome?! We were so glad to see that the glass bottom boats are still operating.
I live in San Marcos so I opened this video and yall are so much fun! and you make San Marcos so fun, I had no idea! lol!
Glad you enjoyed it, Rae! Lots of good stuff around you. Have fun exploring!

Once again our favorite Texas Ambassadors have not let me down. I visited San Marcos in my youth and its wonderful to see it,takes me back to great memories.I have been telling my wife about that gravity room forever, and there it is . Its upgraded a lot since then.(40 yrs later). Thanks so much. Can't wait till your back in Galveston. Safe travels.
Hey Mike! Thank you so much! We really appreciate it! 😁 We had a great time in San Marcos. I’m sure we’ll make our way back to Galveston by early next year.
Thanks for sharing, we are looking forward to visit the places you showed on this video.

So many fun memories! 😁
What a great video. My wife and I live down the street from that Park. Living here all my life sometimes I forget how much stuff there is to do around here. Thank you for the video and the reminder of all the things I could be doing when I can't get away....
Hey Fred! Wish we had seen y’all! There is so much to do around there.
Looks like a great place to put on the to-do list.

Hi Judy! It is a very relaxing park. We love all the trees! Hope to see you out there!
great video with lots of information!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for highlighting all the major sights in the area. When traveling I35 my car always pulls into the Tanger Outlets parking lot near San Marcos. Great place for bargain hunters.
Good tip, Norman! Thanks!
I love San Marcos ,I got to live there for about a year. Good times !
We always enjoy our visits there.
you guys have become my top rv couple great vid
Wow! Thanks so much Allan! 😁 Hope you’re having a great week!
An awesome fun video
Thanks Annamay!
Great campground tour! I’ve never been to a campground with an activity room or oven to use! 😎
We always enjoy our stays there.
That is a great 👍 park I have stayed there.Man the river is way up when y’all were there .Have fun and safe travels
Hey Mark! We always enjoy our stays there. The week before we arrived, they said the river was on the stairs!
RV Texas Y'all 😲 wow that is way up
Hey there. Love your vidios. We're watching one now . Your at Pecan Park. You commented that you have a fire pit, and that it was unusual . We live in the east. We've never seen a campsite without one. We even went west last year through the twelve states, and always had one. Well I'm glad you enjoyed it. Happy travels
That’s awesome, Lisa! We see firepits in all of the campgrounds (like state parks), but it is very unusual to see a firepit in an RV park around here.
How do I remember Aquarena Springs and the Gravity House. Our children loved going there.
Good times!
I really love your shows. It makes me really get into rving. I really would like to meet up just to have some of Toms chillie
Thanks Shannon, it’s about chili time again! 😋
Hey you guys, I loved your video...would love to visit wonder world park maybe some day, and see the area aroound San Marcus...Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much! Lots of fun around there.
Always nice to watch your videos- but dam now I got a cravin for bacon 🥓🍻
Lol Ed! Love us some bacon
Thanks for sharing! I will definitely be checking out these places next time I go to Wimberley to see my folks (they live right on the outer edge of Wimberley/San Marcos). Next time y'all are in that area, be sure and go check out Wimberley. They have the cutest town circle to do some shopping, the Wimberley Cafe has great food, and the people are real nice.
Will do! Thanks for the suggestion! :)
I live in San Marcos. Go bobcats. I haven't been to some of these places yet. All of these are on my checklist
Awesome! Have fun!
I'm happy to see that park has recovered. We used to go there every year when our kids were small. Unfortunately we were there after the flood and the park was a wreck. They did not inform us of its condition and charged us full price without the use of the amenities we normally received.
Sorry to hear that, Patrick.
Between San Antonio and Austin you could easily spend two weeks in that area. You are very near the glass-blowing place I don't know if you'd ever been there I believe it's between San Marcos and Wimberley closer to San Marcos if I'm not mistaken. The restaurant that you ate at in San Marcos is there a damn right outside the deck. Because I was at one very similar to that it was an old Gristmill.
Thanks Wes! We definitely want to visit the glass-blowing place in the future. There is still so much to see and do in that area!
And Wonder Cave too!
We were so glad to finally get to visit Wonder Cave! We felt like kids!
The area is beautiful. I remember meeting Ralph the swimming pig in the early 90's. Pretty hysterical. I also remember the springs being full of albino catfish. Did you see any, I was curious to know if they were still there?
We didn’t see any albino catfish on this trip. They could have been there though, further down or in the grasses.
Love your videos!! #RoamingwithRover
Thank you Robbin!
Are you guys going to the LolaPalooza meet and greet your favorite UT friends @ Cooper Lake State Park South Sulphur ? . It is LOLA Lost On Land UTube second year. It a blast. Oct 24- 27. Lots of cast iron cooking. You guys will fit right in. Great video..love this place. Love the history. Peachy B👍👍❤️.
Hey Peachy B! We hadn't heard about this. We'll look into it. Thanks for the info!
Really cool sites, thanks for sharing, even learned stuff. Great job! Hey Stacie, you didn't say, was the boat trip as good as you remember? A lot of times, unfortunately seeing things from an adult perspective isn't as great as you remember as a child. Jayman...
Thanks Jayman! Yes, I really enjoyed the glass bottom boat ride. I wish Aquarena Springs was still around.
When I was a kid we visited there once, Aquarena Springs that is. That was a little fancier glass bottom boat from what I remember. Mid to late 70's when I got to go,,,,I think..lol Sure looks different. Still beautiful looking though.
Did you guys see any nice looking campsites for tents around the river there?
Thanks for sharing!
Hey y’all! We did not see any tent camping in or around San Marcos. We’ve heard that Leisure Resort in Fentress has tent camping. It’s about 20 minutes or so from San Marcos. And there are a lot of tent camping options in amd around New Braunfels along River Road. That would be about 30 minutes to an hour away from San Marcos.
@@rvamericayall Ah okay, thank you for the info. I just looked up Leisure Resort, primitive tent camping is $32.00 a night. Thanks again for the info, that gives us a start on knowing what is around down there. Y'all be careful out there.
Take care, Brandon
Texas sized breakfast, y'all!
Heck yeah! 😁 We actually cooked ahead for several meals. 😋
omg me and the wife stayed there that look like the same site we had with the same great view
Nice site, wasn’t it! Not a bad view at all!
Great job! Have you ever thought of putting an image of state of Texas with an icon of where you are in these videos? It might be good for those whom may be geographically challenged? Always enjoy your discoveries!
Thanks for the suggestion! We appreciate it.
Love all your videos. Just a tip: never say “if you liked this video”. Just say things like ... “and don’t forget to give us a thumbs up 😁”
Great tip! Thanks!
Great video as usual. You know what would really be cool.....?.....if you would tell us what you pay per night in each of your campground stops.
Thank you Edith! The reason we typically don’t mention pricing is because the parks change their rates from time to time. Here’s the page on Pecan Park’s website where they list their current rates: www.pecanpark.com/camping-rates/
👍🏼San Marcos👍🏼
Hi really enjoyed your video, just a quick question where did you guys leave your 🐕 pup?
Will be traveling with two large dogs and would like to explore the area and was wondering if u guys used kennels/dog daycare
Hi Cruz! Thanks for watching. We left her in the RV at the campground while we explored. It was plugged in with the air conditioners running.
Hey Ya'll. Love Y'all's channel. On your Jeep you have a outside body roll cage. Besides holding your Kayaks, is it strong enough to help in a roll over. I Pray that it never happens. Just wondering. Hope you all had a good Fourth of July, see y'all later.
Hey Hoss! Great question. We don't know for sure, but it is basically part of the frame. We can hang off of it on the side and rock the entire Jeep side to side. So it probably would give us at least a little bit of extra protection.
we’re leaving in a few days to stay for a week, we always stay in the little circle with our family. we’ve been going for years.
edit: our site is a few down from where y’all stayed!
Awesome! That’s a great area of the park. Have fun!
RV Texas Y'all thank you!
How much do the RV sites go for? Your videos are awesome!!
Thank you Rayetta! Here’s a link to the rates page on their website: www.pecanpark.com/camping-rates/
We are thinking of staying here. Looks so nice! What site number where y’all in?
I think that was site 226. It's a great location for exploring San Marcos and the other nearby communities. We have more about our stay here on our website if you'd like more info: rvtexasyall.com/region-texas-hill-country/rv-parks/pecan-park-riverside-rv-park
What brand of river shoes do you recommend?
We've worn Zeko shoes for about a year and half now. They are super lightweight, comfortable and have drains in the soles. Here's a link so you can see them on Amazon: amzn.to/2ZX3R4d
It's MartinDALE, not MartinTOWN.
I know it sounds like I said Martintown, but I promise I said Martindale. I don’t know why I sort of mumbled there. I thought the exact same thing when I watched the video back. Sorry about that. -Stacie
I think Deep Eddy,in Austin is older for amusement park?
Good question Dale. Any idea when Deep Eddy began?
@@rvamericayall 1915 ,I think
That's kind of funny cuz I live next to a San Marcos River
That’s a great area Mario.
:-)) :-))
no one ever talks about price wounder why?
We don’t talk about prices because prices change. Here’s the link to the rates page on their website: www.pecanpark.com/camping-rates/
$69.00 a night?
I believe that is the summer rate for the end sites. Ours was a little less than that. They also run discounts from time to time. Here’s their coupon page... www.pecanpark.com/coupons-specials/
