- the fact that there are not more Anastasia animatics out there is a CRIME.
but holy heck this is finally done and i am so in love with this musical, its soundtrack, and literally everything about it. this song in particular made me C R Y so i knew it had to be the first one i animated. i'm obsessed with all the songs so more animatics will (should) be coming eventually! next one will probably be "In My Dreams"...
drawing anya was fun and christy altomare is officially my new queen. also most of the extras in this video are original characters who i thought would be fun to slip in.

Anyone else get teary-eyed when the Count recognizes Anastasia and pays her proper courtesy despite the danger he and all the other illegal boarders are in?
Not to mention when the 2 guards came aboard after the song, " We'll Go From There" when they mentioned the name of the Count, he was shot. It really shows how merciless the Russians were after the Romanovs were killed....
This man's solo parts always stirs my emotions in this song like "Ahhhaaahhhaaaa~~" it just makes ur heart tear up

I'm glad you went for the best song from the musical to do an animatic. I love how the Count is the same actor who plays her Dad. That 'tears will never dry' where the guy comforts the woman and she just keeps crying, that was effective.

This always strikes a chord with me. Because some of us had to leave our countries and homes for whatever reason. And some of us are their children listening to them say this about their homeland

Russia is my homeland and I get chills all over my body and cry every time I hear this song and think of the context....

I have just found this musical and your animatic, and God, I'm crying. This song really touches every time. As Russian, it hurts in a double way, because you know that sometimes it is necessary to leave your country. And a lot of things doesn't give you a choice. (And the "russian" music lines and music instruments took me to another level of melancholy. It sounds like an old Russian romance. ;-;)

I was very disappointed that In The Dark of The Night wasn't adapted. I think it could have easily had the lyrics reworked for either Gleb or his boss (especially the Boss, if he's Stalin like I suspect). But at least part of the melody was kept, and to haunting affect.

What animation software did you use?
KatchTheSmiles it’s all drawn in paint tool sai and edited together in windows movie maker. the fading for certain parts was mainly me doing it frame by frame and fudging around with opacity :)
