B12 was one of the locos that caught my eye back in 1970 when I saw the Hornby Triang catalogue my dad had. Was not until 1983 that I got one, also in LNER green :) This is a lovely model. LOL mate you must have a good job, your collection is growing really fast!
Really are lovely looking machines ;) Certainly is nice to see it back in the range. Oh yes, working 6 days a week does help, sadly not much time to play with them though :p
That's a fantastic looking machine....really top class all round with so much detail. Great runner, too. Excellent review mate. Thanks for sharing. All the best :)
It is a very superb model, i didn't know whether to get one myself because I own the old version and the new models are very expensive so whether I do get one is still a mystery. Great review. Keep the faith - Callum
I have always wondered if the dual cylinder contraption on the side was a steam operated air compressor. I have seen them many times and wondered about it. Thank you, nice review. Rob
Oh yes, they really are interesting little features. See them a few time in action on real locos. Really is interesting to see the pump motion working. Glad you enjoyed
Wow! Just wanted to quickly add a comment. The detail is great. Just wish it was 8572 (the one at the NNR). I am about to watch it again slowly now :-) Laurie
Great review, I'm not used to seeing this as a Holden as in Australia a Holden is a car, but I think this one will be far more affordable, will keep an eye out for this one thanks for the review.
Thanks ever so much mate. Glad you like it ;) Certainly is a very smart looking loco indeed. Oh yes, certainly a bit more affordable and more fun than a car ;)
Great review :) the B12 really is a stunning Loco :) looks like a great loco :) I hope that Hornby will make 8572. Seen that loco a couple of times at the North Norfolk Railway looks amazing!!!!!!!!!!! :) thanks for sharing :)
Thanks mate. Certainly is indeed! Oh yes, would imagine it would sell well being a preserved loco. Still yet to see the real thing in action myself. Will have to try and get up there again one day
Good Evening SDJR7F88, That is a smashing review of your new Hornby B12 in LNER Apple Green. The number 8573 on your model is close to 8572 the preserved one on the North Norfolk Railway. I might get one just like yours one day and have it renumbered to the preserved member, 8572. After all I collect model steam locomotives of the preserved ones in real life, which some are running on heritage railways and the mainline hauling railtours and excursions and on display in museums. Again great review, I love the performance and the gorgeous LNER Apple Green livery, much better than the British Railways Black livery. I give your video 10/10 and 5 stars. ⛤⛤⛤⛤⛤ 😃
Thanks ever so much Jordan. Glad you enjoyed! Oh yes, now that's an idea. Interesting Hornby didn't model it. Wow! You must have quite a fleet then. :) Many think indeed!
Thanks I certainly do have a fleet of model steam locomotives in the preserved era. I own a model railway layout in a shed and not just British Model Steam Locomotives I own, I also own 8 international model steam locomotives, 6 American and 2 French.
We haves the old one, but we wants this one! We needs it! Ok sorry about Gollum there, I'll probably get this one and double head it with the other one I have.
You say there is no hesitation over pick-ups ! I would certainly hesitate over picking this one up for over £ 150 ! Really Hornby !! Not a fair bang for your buck , at these kind of prices I expect a toot-for my loot like with your masterpiece Crosti 9f (with sound too (t) at the same price as this !
Sadly it's the way things are going. Brexit, cost of materials, transport and labor has all gone up, and sadly we the consumers have to pick up the cost. Must admit the sound fitted Crosti really is a bargain, and is one of my favourite models (my ones the standard one though). Had the two along side after the review, and must say the B12 does just pip it for detail. Most of the body work is Diecast (really ways a ton), which is a lovely feature. Must admit, I think we are still very lucky with piece at the mo. I was looking at a Roco S160 USA 2-8-0 WW2 locomotive, which saw service in the UK during the war. Looks a stunning model, then I saw the price! £350! And that's a non-DCC standard model. If you wanted a sound one it was £485 :O Will be really scary if our prices go that way...

Awesome review of the B12 Mate! Hornby have done a superb job on her 😁
Thanks Mark! Glad you enjoyed! Certainly is a smart machine! Almost seems like yesterday seeing them on the stand at Warley. ;)
SDJR7F88 Doesnt seem that long ago that we were at Warley. Nice to see manufacturers updating outdated models 😃
Another great review , looks very good with that wheel arrangement ......Peter
Thanks Peter. Oh yes, the largest inside cylinder 4-6-0 in Europe at one point I believe. Glad you enjoyed

Agreed. They missed a trick there. Preserved liveried models seems to sale very well. As noted with the Adams Radial :)
Great review, I'm not used to seeing this as a Holden as in Australia a Holden is a car, but I think this one will be far more affordable, will keep an eye out for this one thanks for the review.
