There were four false starts in the fourth quarter. Three ASU defensive line players were making oline calls. It is a rule under "disconcerting noises," and it's straight-up cheating.
When Quinn was a redshirt freshman he had problems connecting on the deep ball. A lot of his balls were over thrown. I believe he made the adjustment to put air under it on deeper throws and trust his WRs to run under them. That's what you're probably seeing with it hanging in the air. I think this is a choice. As you noticed, he has the arm strength to throw it all over the field. If Texas had a big WR (besides Wingo who needs to work on running better routes / creating more separation), or one that made a lot of contested catches (Bond does not), I think people would see his deep ball differently. When you look at the Bond interception, bond let the guy come from over the top to underneath to intercept the ball. Technically the throw should've been a check down to the TE on this play who was wide open, but even if this was a predetermined play instead of a read, the placement wasn't terrible. As for the red zone. Our answer in the red zone tore his ACL before the season. He'll be back next year, hopefully at full strength. But we need to be able to run the ball between the tackles. Wisner hasn't done well at it. And our offensive line isn't all that great at just running right at a defense, even an undersized one like this.
the insider sites reported ASU was calling out the offensive play calls in the second half and it threw off the O-line. That's why 3 different O-linemen jumped
@@teecee211 I would like a better explanation too. Like you said, it's not legal to make what the NCAA and NFL call "confounding" or "disconcerting" pre-snap sounds. So the defense can't clap because it mimics the QB snap count and throws off the OL. But I still don't know what was meant by "calling out offensive plays" - if they were literally naming the play that Texas was about to run, and doing it accurately most of the time, how? I remember a play in the 2020 title game between Bama and OSU where he had Devonta Smith motion to the left, then to the right into the back field, ball snapped making the play look like an end around, but then Smith doubled back towards the flat for huge gain. @Chimonya That's my point. Due to the limited number of possessions and hIs adherences to his script. It took him too long to finally realize the script needed to be junked.
I think Ewers even this late in his career is making decisions before the ball is snapped. I see about 14 points left on the field in this study. Maybe he's just doesn't consistently see the field, its definitely perplexing.

Texas has had a false start issue all season long, going back to last season. Given that most of them happen at home or in a neutral setting, I have to assume that it's got to do with Sark's pre-snap motion and/or lack of adequate communication when getting the play calls in. It's bizarre, though. And they need to figure it out.
After watching the 4th and 13 pass completion by Ewers about 20 times, I realized that the best thing that could have happened to the horns was the 5 yard penalty that made it 4th and 13. It gave them more space and time to successfully execute that play. Kudos to Ewers.

As a coach, you can never say it, but I believe Sark is frustrated that Ewers' limitations as a QB are really hampering how he can call games. Because every other piece is there. The line is a Moore award finalist. The receivers are very good. The backs are solid to very good. Gunnar is one of the best TEs in the country. It's all there for the QB to be elite and the offense to be elite. Yet, the QB and offense struggle like crazy for long stretches. We've seen with Sark at Alabama when he has elite weapons, a legit line, and a QB that can make the read and get the ball there on time, he's a deadly playcaller no matter who the defense is. Ewers' inability to properly handle the deep ball routes combined with his hesitation and turning down winning routes is the main culprit. It really limits what Sark can do, and good defenses have keyed in on that. And that's unacceptable for a 4th year QB, 3rd year starter, to not have a handle on throwing a proper deep route consistently. Wingo alone had the ASU DBs cooked on at least 4 or 5 routes in that game, and not one was hit. It's the most frustrating thing ever to watch on film.
Also the film is good but you’re not accounting for eye level ever. So yeah they look open but from the QBs vantage point is the window open to throw it .
Ewers has proven he can throw guys open with tight windows, the Michigan game is an example. After he got hurt he hasnt been the same for whatever reason.
I sure hope you’re going to put out a similar video about Ohio State, and why all their fans wanted their coach fired 3 games ago, and how he’s been bi-polar all year, trying to jam the ball down the throat of Michigan’s defense after Michigan beat them 3 years in a row, as a show of dominance, instead of playing them smart like they did v Tenn and Oregon. There’s a lot of talking that can be done about OSU’s ups and downs, and yes, they’re playing great RIGHT NOW, but let’s talk about their flaws and abusable tendencies too.
They don’t have abusable tendencies. Ryan Day has the mental yips with Michigan, no doubt about that. But to say their defense is going to get burned - delusion. They had one bad game against Oregon and made the adjustments to lock them down in the 2nd game
the false starts vs ASU: ASU played several former Texas players in that game. They knew how Texas does their snap counts, and would occasionally clap /bark a word at the exact right moment to cause one of the Texas linemen to false start. Watch the tape closely. also most of the false starts but not all have been from Texas’ transfer/freshman on the right side.
@@CoolKid-mg9bo He's correct about the right side of the OL. Cam Williams has been false starting in every other game this season. Sometimes more than once in a game at home with no crowd noise to blame.
To beat OSU, Texas is going to have to let Ewers run the ball. Texas desperately needs that dimension. Ewers has excellent legs, but past injuries have made Sarkisian skidding of running him. This takes away a threat that is vital for Texas to win tight games .
No, Ewers doesn't run the ball. NFL QBs don't run the ball. We don't "need" that from Ewers. We need our OL to execute well and open up lanes for Wisner. Arch will be the mobile guy, Quinn ain't that sort of QB. Quinn needs to stay in the pocket and get through his reads. Some open guys have been missed.
@WillCory YEP, play action pass so that Manning would have a run pass option. However, he could do the same thing with Ewers. Ewers has very good speed. I think it's time to take some risks and see what happens.
The problem with Texas is that Sark always has to dial it up. Texas can’t beat good teams with simple even though they have superior talent. Everything has to be some behind the back 2 pump fakes and you can’t beat elite teams when it takes that much to get a successful play.
Great content and I love the breakdowns, but Texas should’ve just lost to ASU, bc this ass whoppin is guna hurt worse 38-24 THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES! OHIO STATE has the best defense not Texas or Georgia. Sark was a dog at Bama and will scheme some stuff, but it won’t be executed.
I think Quinn struggles with putting the correct velocity on his throws. That’s why everything is a lob. Anything beyond 10 yards that’s he doesn’t have a direct line of sight to he struggles
Texas allows alot of rushing yards...osu is gonna start out throwing...then just end the game running the ball second half...my guess..OSU puts up 289 passing yards, 161 rush yards
He ripped that throw to golden in the back of the end zone for the two pt conversion in OT. And ripped another one to golden for a touchdown against Michigan. But I agree, he seems too indecisive and tentative for someone in their third full year with NFL prospects in his future. Also, he seems like he has no idea how to throw the deep ball 90% of the time. Too far, too short, in to double coverage too often.
It's because of his easy throwing motion, my brain thinks the same thing, but I bet if you checked the velocity the ball is moving. If you watch some All-22, his deep outs look effortless and there has to be some velocity.
The Manning legend begins in the Cotton bowl on Friday. Texas needs to do what Superior did against FSU many years ago one time. Play two quarterbacks and rotate them. Manning is the most efficient QB in the country. Look it up.
Texas route combinations are awful compared to OSU. OSU concepts are so much more elite, and their narratives they drive throughout the game to open up stuff later in the game.
OSU by two TDs against Texas. Texas lacks the discipline to play clean and limit penalties. It's been that way all season long. The running game is inconsistent, and the TEs and RBs are relegated to provide maximum protection for the slow and fragile Quinn Ewers. It will only worsen against a stout OSU defense. No one in the country can match up against #4 of OSU. Even if the game is close, Texas doesn't have a reliable kicker to win. The number of Texas fans will not matter for this game; more disappointed Texas fans will go home. It's been a great season, but maybe next season will be better with the much-hyped Arch Manning. Hook'Em \m/~v~
Sarkisian has not prepared well the players in mentality. He always wants players "confident and loose." No wonder the sloppy 2nd halves with such loose players.

@ bro be for real 🤣
@@CoolKid-mg9bo He's correct about the right side of the OL. Cam Williams has been false starting in every other game this season. Sometimes more than once in a game at home with no crowd noise to blame.
shout out mama Kirbs
Texas defense is only better in like 1 metric than OSU. Otherwise osu is ahead of texas in like everything.
Thats where Sark needs to take a page from Saban and understand the moment and put Manning in, direct snap to back something off script
@WillCory YEP, play action pass so that Manning would have a run pass option.
However, he could do the same thing with Ewers. Ewers has very good speed. I think it's time to take some risks and see what happens.
I’M AN ASU FAN DONT DISRESPECT ME LIKE THAT
The problem with Texas is that Sark always has to dial it up. Texas can’t beat good teams with simple even though they have superior talent. Everything has to be some behind the back 2 pump fakes and you can’t beat elite teams when it takes that much to get a successful play.
This is why their offense seems like boom or bust. Either sark is dialing it up and they’re hitting stuff or they’re getting stopped
The Texas Longhorns: the Erectile Dysfunction of CFB. Struggling to finish games, especially when pressured.
Yea michigan will sure give tha floppys huh?
@@mikedennis8109 Did they play Michigan this year? I know in the cheating year, but I don’t remember this year?
@@KirbysBeltget your 💩 together
@@KirbysBelt It was literally the 2nd game of this season. We didn't play Michigan last season.
Notre Dame says hi!
HOOK EM!!
What’s with all the false starts?!!
Answer: 4 & 13 TD 😂
Go, Bucks ... Beat the Longhorns! #Natty2024 🏆
Texas allows alot of rushing yards...osu is gonna start out throwing...then just end the game running the ball second half...my guess..OSU puts up 289 passing yards, 161 rush yards
i don't think i have ever seen Ewers truly rip a throw
He ripped that throw to golden in the back of the end zone for the two pt conversion in OT. And ripped another one to golden for a touchdown against Michigan. But I agree, he seems too indecisive and tentative for someone in their third full year with NFL prospects in his future. Also, he seems like he has no idea how to throw the deep ball 90% of the time. Too far, too short, in to double coverage too often.
Nevermind, he def didn’t rip that two point throw in OT, finessed it. 🤷♂️
It's because of his easy throwing motion, my brain thinks the same thing, but I bet if you checked the velocity the ball is moving. If you watch some All-22, his deep outs look effortless and there has to be some velocity.
Poor little Texas. Don’t stand a chance.
Texas does stand a chance. Stop counting them out
The Manning legend begins in the Cotton bowl on Friday. Texas needs to do what Superior did against FSU many years ago one time. Play two quarterbacks and rotate them. Manning is the most efficient QB in the country. Look it up.
Texas doesn't have the best dedense in the Country. Check the stats
Texas route combinations are awful compared to OSU. OSU concepts are so much more elite, and their narratives they drive throughout the game to open up stuff later in the game.
Worked really well against Michigan too.
Wonder how much of this 32 mins is “because Ewers sucks”
Did you watch to find out? haha
None of it. Quinn elite under 25. Been tellin people this all year.
@@Chimonya that sorta of the problem we have and the film just proved it
OSU by two TDs against Texas.
Quinn looks scared at all times
You got a 120" TV or something? I can't see his eyes most of the time even on my 80". Or are you just a "body language expert"?
How is texas the best defense in the country?
Sarkisian has not prepared well the players in mentality. He always wants players "confident and loose." No wonder the sloppy 2nd halves with such loose players.
