no data lost followed your guide powered off machine, powered back up booted to a second hard drive containing Windows 10 Pro X64 , 1TB WB Black drive viable and all data readable. now moving all the files to a new drive and sending this one back to WD as still in warranty by 2 months. called WD Support before finding your video and they are useless, 1st line rep just kept asking me to resize the partition in windows, guy was not listening to what i was telling him.
Best to packages for recovering the partitions if they don't restore are GetDataBack Pro and DiskGenius both not cheap about £60 and £110 but they have saved my life in the past, hope this helps.

Hi, that seems to be right. You never get 1000gb out of a 1tb hdd. There are videos on RUclips explaining why this is. It’s most likely you always had 931GB but you have never noticed it. Have a look at this video: ruclips.net/video/SLlCAtkABqk/видео.html
Will it erase all the data? Or is the data accessible with some recovery software after capacity has been corrected by sea tools... I've Seagate 2TB showing as 2.89GB.... I want to make sure if this trick permanently erases the data or not....
In my opinion it will not overwrite data on the disk. However I can not confirm or deny this. That would take a lot longer to do. The fix happens almost instantaneously.
It shows 'Failed' for my Seagate 1tb Hard Disk, and also when I am selecting that drive in that DOS system, it is not showing any details about it as in your case. Please help.
Load the software wait for it to find the drives. Select the drive you want to fix but don’t do anything yet. Disconnect the power from the drive only and then reconnect. Without refreshing any data in the utility just go ahead with the fix. Good luck.
Hi Pete, please help me. The Seatools is not loading my drives. I've waited almost 30mins already now. I have disconnected the drive that needs the fix and yet it won't display my Drives on the Seatools. Please. My HDD is 2TB and now it's 3.86GB Unallocated. Further update: when I'm loading the Seatools from boot, it says InitDiskError reading partition table. With or without drives connected to the computer. I have used different Computers but the drives on the PC aren't loaded
@@PeteTum I've been able to get that done. I just changed my drive configuration from SATA to IDE and it was able to load the drives. But the drive failed basic test as it wasn't even spinning. I found another video from hddrecovery showing how to remove a dead IC from the back panel of the drive. When I tested my drive with a Meter, I found two dead ICs. Now I'm thinking of borrowing a back panel from another 2TB Seagate. I don't know if that'll help. Cos I just want my files out then throw the drive away

it does not work in an SD card reader I have tried it already in a hope I can fix the fake sd cards but the aplication does not recognises it. I guess only ide and sata drives will work. You can try to experiment with an SD card to sata adapter. :)
In my case I was about to format the entire drive with windows installer when it has failed so there was no any data on it that I needed. But yes good question there.. what if.. Technically after applying the fix I had no partitions on the drive. In fact I had to initialise it just like a brand new drive. But the data on the disk is probably still there but the drive doesn’t know what is where. If that’s some very important data for you like family photos videos I personally would take the drive to a specialist. If it’s less important and you prepared to say goodbye to it then you can risk it to try to recover it yourself. After applying the fix don’t do anything with the drive. Find a data recovery software. Most of them are not free though. Try to find one which can scan the drive even without a partition on it. That’s your biggest chance. And in the future remember the rule! One copy is not a copy. You loose it and it’s gone forever. Keep 3 copies of important data on 2 different medium and at least 1 which is off site like at an other location or on the cloud. Good luck with your recovery.
Try DiskGenius www.diskgenius.com I've used this before and I have good experience with it. After restoring the disk size with Sea Tools do not initialise the disk or create any partition (if you haven't already). DiskGenius can scan the drive even without a partition reducing the risk of overwriting any data. But I'm still saying if the data is super important then seek for a specialist.
It happened to my C: drive. Couldn't boot up and Windows disk couldn't repair it. Followed these steps and I'm back into Windows at the login screen. NO DATA LOSS for me.
Do you have a log from the program what happened and if you had any error messages? You may need to disconnect the power from the hard drive just before you hit the "set capacity to max native" button. So first do everything as normal and once you select the hard drive unplug the hard drive for a moment then reconnect. Good luck
Got the same error too. Then tried on another pc/bios and worked. 👍 It seems some bios support this tool and some don't. Don't try the win tools, only the bootable dos tool as recommended.

I can replicate the problem by using this utility and change the size manually something smaller. This way I can re-experience the issue and try to fix it again. Every time I do this manual killing the drive method and the fixing it I have all data on the drive and I can even boot into the operating system on the actual drive. So I confidently say that the FIX itself will not damage any files or partitions BUT it will also not fix any damage made by the very unfortunate incident that killed the drive in the first place. So the bottom line is.. if the files are lost already on that drive then NO this utility will not fix the files but it will fix the drive. At the other hand if the files are untouched on the drive and the only thing "broken" is the size of the drive then after applying the fix your files will be there for you. If I would be you I would not boot from the drive but attach it to another computer and try to recover all files that way. Do not copy anything onto the drive before you save everything important for you. If files are missing then use some recovery software to scan the drive. Good luck and report back here if you succeeded or failed. Ps. You can always pay a data recovery company to get your files back. It's not as expensive now days as you would think. I had a quote for a 1TB hard drive in the UK in 2018 for £200 and they would give me a brand new hdd with all my recovered files on. You need to decide if you risk it yourself or pay a professional to do it for you.

I had issue with keyboard and mouse on older motherboard. In the bios the USB keyboard and usb mouse support has to be enabled.

Worked like a charm but now I can't delete volume on my usb, can't Uninstall software or delete anything. Permanently on my pc and usb storage.

I got to the bottom of this fault. It's something to do with bios, I tried fixing the disk on another PC and it worked! Yeeha.

It seems some bios support this tool and some don't.
Don't try the win tools, only the bootable dos tool as recommended.
