I know that razor pretty well because I borrowed it from David. I took a bunch of photos and measurements and I also shaved with it. It's smooth and efficient. I've been fascinated by the vintage razors that were made using sheet stock, punched and then pressed. Schick used that method for a really long time. I've been kind of surprised that an independent razor company isn't making a razor using this technique because it can be done in stainless steel. I've been thinking of making one after playing with this one, but I might go a different route. It's super cool and the only one I've run into. Take care!
@@lastshadow9351 the thing about the stamping process is that it is repeatable with great results. I think people now days are hung up on the term CNC. Thanks for watching Ian!
@@lawrence1md True! Some of it is also the look, but some of the Gem razor have a shape to the top cap. I'm also intrigued with the idea of using the hair shaper blade in an SE safety razor form. Weck did make a couple different ones and one is really nice. I missed out on getting the one that I saw, but I did get pictures. I'm leaning toward making something like that one. If there was enough interest maybe Yaqi or Shield could actually produce one. Who knows?!
@@lawrence1md Nope, they wanted some bucks for it on Etsy and I had to think about it, then it was gone. It was different than the med prep, it was all cast brass, three pieces. I'll have to send you a picture, because it's hard to explain.
Interesting handle! I could see why you would be a little off when you’re so used to using a round handle. Cheers Matthew always great to see your uploads my friend!
Great colours on that Trotters brush, reminds me of butterscotch icecream. What an unusual razor, looks like it was made from a clothes peg ... I would think the flat handle might flex, that would be hard to get used to.👌🤠👌

Hey Matthew you going to buy one of the Captain's new brass "Admiral" lather bowls? I'm thinking about it but I would have to finance it for 3 months just to afford one. It will retain heat seeing how it is brass better than our copper bowls.

Sure hope that works on your knee. I've got one I messed up in a car wreck that's probably going need replacing eventually. I think I'd rather use an electric than that goofy little razor, lol.
@@lawrence1md Expensive, lol? Dude, how much do you have invested in all of your shave gear? I've used Norelco razors since the early '70s, and a search just showed they run from $30 to $300. I've found that using Williams Lectric Shave pre-shave really makes a difference. You can't run an electric over your face fast like a blade, and need to take it slow and easy. Once you get the knack it doesn't really take more time than wet shaving, and you never have to worry about a nick.

Try making a Olaf Rasmussen vintage surgical prep razor just stamped stainless steel don't know why no one has copied or remade this razor
