It's actually pretty simple. EA shut down Black Box Studios in 2012 after NFS: The Run was developed and published. Since games such as NFS: Hot Pursuit (2010) and Most Wanted: A Criterion Game (2012) were doing better in terms of critical reception and sales of copies compared to "The Run," EA shut down Black Box as they were going bankrupt and they did the same thing too to Criterion Games as multiple employees left Criterion and some few of those Criterion workers formed Ghost Games.
