the “fading to black” is a reference to Jay-Z who wrote the black album as a retirement piece and did a small documentary called “fade to black”

i'll never forget when i first heard his ep in 2015, he was still such a baby artist, i loved coloring, pushing away, and come up short. holy crap, i had no idea he wrote my fav beyonce song, i knew it had something of his in the song (around the part, "even thats a test, constantly aware of it all", and "it don't hit me quite the same") but i thought i was tripping till i heard him right now and i can hear his voice in the beyonce track. wow. kevin garrett, you are amazing. thank you for sharing your talent.

“Constantly aware of it all” is the deciding factor if you know what this song is supposed to “give”...Beyoncé did awesome by it but you can tell after listen to this artist that this is his song! He attacked it with a subtle ness but strength
Lol, he helped write it. He isn’t the only writer on this song. I actually disagree. I think it was more fitting for Beyoncé; especially given her situation...it was simple and full of emotion.
Beautiful song with the original songwriter, I loved this track and the emotion in it, its really nice hearing Beyonce in her lower register on Lemonade too. I actually thought it was written by James Blake!
The Infinity Light james blake added some production and got 10% songwriter credit.(it's common for peoole to get songwrtier credit for production side now)
