Oh Oh, yeah Ziggy played guitar Jamming good with Weird and Gilly And the Spiders from Mars He played it left hand But made it too far Became the special man Then we were Ziggy's band Ziggy really sang Screwed-up eyes and screwed-down hairdo Like some cat from Japan He could lick 'em by smiling He could leave 'em to hang They came on so loaded, man Well-hung and snow-white tan So where were the spiders While the fly tried to break our bones? With just the beer light to guide us So we bitched about his fans And should we crush his sweet hands? Oh Mm-hmm Ziggy played for time Jiving us that we were voodoo The kids were just crass He was the nazz With God-given ass He took it all too far But, boy, could he play guitar Making love with his ego Ziggy sucked up into his mind, ah Like a leper messiah When the kids had killed the man I had to break up the

Absolutely awesome, I really love his early studio recordings with only him playing the guitar and singing! He is the GOD of music. I bought a Yamaha cpx700-12string so I could sound like him but he has this uniqe sound to his playing! I read that strumming in the glammrock era, that you kept the beat in the guitar play nothing to do with up or down strokes only keeping the beat, I think noone has ever come near him. Best Regards
I wanted to reply with "it's about time for a 40th year Anniversary version" or "it's time for a new generation of fans to get their 40th Anniversary Edition". But then I remembered it's 2013 already and it's 41 year already.
Re . ALEX ZENDER , If you download Riff Station, it will tell you the chords, also when you play the song, you can play them at slow speed , that way ( if like myself just a learner ) you can slow the song down to practice with ,,hope this helps
I wonder when it was played acoustic? He gently nudges that guitar instead of the elaborate string playing on electric guitar. But then again this is maybe a single track and he didn't put in background tracks to add extra notes I love listening to the electrical version and the interplay of the guitar notes. I'd love to know how it is played both ways.
If you do not think this is Bowie, you are not truly a Bowie fan. If you were, you'd have the 30th Anniversary Edition of Ziggy Stardust, which includes this exact version as a bonus track.
davesmtv Most likely, it's the Harptone 12-string you see him play on stage with the Spiders ( and later on Dick Cavett when he premiers the 'Young Americans' material!)
Ha! I just learned this on acoustic and tried to play along. Sounds like the guitar got ran over by a truck and he picked it up and played anyway. loved it nonetheless.
David was a true professional, his music will live on forever!
I miss Bowie. What a treasure he was.
Mega version of my Number One song ... loved BOWIE and miss him every day ...

The voice is unmistakable even if the acoustic version doesn't sound like the studio electric version

this version appeared on the remastered 80´s Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from mars cd, as a bonus track, included others, Bowie and his guitar

I never comment on these things but yes it obviously is David Bowie singing...

Sounds like a 12 string.
Yes, David Loves 12 string Guitars
davesmtv Most likely, it's the Harptone 12-string you see him play on stage with the Spiders ( and later on Dick Cavett when he premiers the 'Young Americans' material!)

Ha! I just learned this on acoustic and tried to play along. Sounds like the guitar got ran over by a truck and he picked it up and played anyway. loved it nonetheless.
Yeah the guitar sounds odd to me, maybe it's a 12 string?
Murray Herts sounds like a 12 string to me, they can have a kinda metallic sound on the highest 2 pairs of strings
I'm referring to the bad tuning.
Shady Grady yeah, there is a bit of an off sound to it
Bowie did use 12 string acoustics
watch the movie THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH. Thats the real Bowie
ziggy stardust and the spiders from mars
