This game's characters are so goated. Btw, with the holidays here, this is the last video for a little bit, penguins. We will be back potentially this Friday with more Metaphor, and a new series next week! Hope you all have a great holiday!
About your question with leveling at the start you are right that both methods are the same in terms of raw numbers. so the best way of actually leveling archetype is as follows Equip yourself with the archetype you want to use in combat, doesnt matter what it is doesnt matter what level it is and only switch archetypes if you want to swap your strategy, or if you are mc and say swap to merchant to farm money. that way you will always have peak combat performance and either level what you are already using, or get the leaves to level what you want to level to level. having everyone be on a mastered archetype, assuming it does not hinder your combat performance, has one advantage tho. It allows you to funnel exp into one person, since everyone makes items and you can control where the items go.
What's funny is that if you do laundry with Heismay on the runner he reveals that he loathes the chore, and has tried a few wacky ideas in the past to reduce how much he has to do. One of them was to forgo clothes entirely, which he claimed worked quite well till got too cold in winter. Could you imagine if he was still living that way when we first met him 😂.
@@Don_LUSH Only if we brought him back to civilization still nude 😆, can't really press charges on a man choosing to live nude whilst never leaving a cave in the desert.
Bizzle: "Hey Neuras, can you look at this real quick?" Neuras: "Sure my boy! Let's have a look." *Chaos ensues as the Gauntlet Runner ever so slowly steers off a cliff as Hulkenberg yells out* "GODAMMIT NEURAS!"
You missed out on running into Loveless during the berry quest. Basically he talks about how he has taken a quest to hunt down the birds and tells you how he literally used to eat those things for breakfast. You can talk to him again after beating the boss where he says that you only beat the boss first because he got lost, to which Galica response with an absolutely savage come back, "he found it first he killed it first, that's just how it goes Loveless. If you have energy to complain then you have energy to try harder !!"
Nico your timing with your comments about certain elements in the game can be hilarious. This time around you talked about how shitty it would be if there was a chest after the boss in the tower and they give you the immediately return option.... Well there is no chest but on the next floor you would have found a pretty decent item. If you find yourself in a similar dungeon in the future you might want to check out more after beating the boss.
To be protected by the king’s magic you have to be in the top 20, and the magic only works if you’re attacked by other people, it doesn’t work on animals or creatures.
In terms of the story, the reasoning for the party social links being blocked is that Strohl, Hulkenburg and now Heismay may not be in the mood for just hanging out when you have to stop Louis' plans for "The Day of Calamity" at the Grand Cathedral and then stop people from being eaten in Matira. In contrast, here in Brilehaven they have to wait for end date no matter what they do, so might as well hang out. In terms of gameplay, the reason to change how things work is I imagine, to to spice things up so they don't feel formulaic. The fact that you can hang out with your party members is supposed to be a curve ball. They don't want you to just settle into a routine, they want you to be surprised and change plans according to the new things they throw at you. I only figured that out when I took a day to do the tournament and found Strohl was available the next day. At the end of the day, I don't think Atlus designed this game for 100% min maxers, but for people who want to be somewhat optimal, which I think doing dungeons in 1 day blows past them. The Persona games in contrast were made with the idea that most people wouldn't see everything in one playthrough. But in seeing that a lot of people want to see everything in one go they just made it easier.
This game is insanely easier to do "everything" in than Persona games. As a Persona veteran, one of the only complaints I had was that at times the time management felt *too easy*.
@@xtty7644Most of what they got rid of that made time management "harder" (at least compared to P5) was busywork, like equipping the right Persona, or getting your fortune read everyday. Or stuff kind of antithetical to a role-playing game, by forcing you to pick the options that the character wants to hear over what you feel your character would say. (Unless you like role-playing a sociopath.) I don't miss any of that stuff. There are probably ways to make the social sim stuff more complex without that busywork, but for now I think this is a step in the right direction.
I think the main reason the availability of party member social links changes depending on the mission is simply for the sake of immersion. Like it'd be out of character for them to want to take the time to focus on their own personal matters when we're in the middle of trying to rescue the once thought to be innocent Joanna and stop human traffickers from escaping.
Yeah. It's a similar case to how you can't really hang out with Ann in P5 until Kamoshida is dealt with. Her best friend attempted suicide and is currently comatose in the hospital all the while the fuck head responsible is roaming free and lording it over everyone like he's king. No shit she isn't really up to hang out until he's dealt with. 😂
1:05:00 I hate to say this Nico, but there IS a decent treasure behind the boss on top of the tower dungeon. It's not critical, so it's not the biggest loss. There will be other tower-style dungeons to encounter in the future to keep in mind though.
On the topic of whether leveling up a Mastered class for the XP items is better than just leveling a class directly, remember that they’re class agnostic. You can use the item you gained from a Mastered Seeker on a Warrior, or a Mage. Which means if EVERYONE was on a mastered class and accrued a few XP items, now you have 4 different classes you can level with the gained items, or 2 classes you can sorta power level, or a single class you can BOOST TF out of. Also, going to try saying this again, characters you Bond with have something to say whenever they level up, so it’s good to listen in because they provide a nice state of their current emotions and affairs. Voice acted and all that too.
Im surprised it took this long for Strohl to be in the thumbnail. For our other party members both Bizzle and Heismay have 2 while Hulkenburg has 3 (if you wanna count Gallica she hasn’t had a thumbnail yet).
5:00 Nico, it wasn't just Gallica saying that. Strohl said at the beginning of your free time, and i quote, "A new situation calls for new tactics. We ought to build up our strength hy hunting bounties and the like, or we may end up over our heads." Everything except the first sentence was even highlighted in red. The tutorial box at the beginning of your free time also said to "utilize requests to strengthen your abilities to give yourself a fighting chance." The first half of that was also highlighted in red. I think it's just a you thing.
It may seem unbelievable for Lina to quit the race after you defeated her but it makes more sense from a narrative sense. The main reason she joined the race (more like the only one) was to raise publicity and help her struggling workshop. But now she's found someone who knows about her family business and is willing to provide funding for it and the donor is an engineer with connections to the royal family (though she doesn't know that). With that her reason for entering the tournament is gone so it makes sense for her to drop out. Unfortunately for Catherina you're not going to be able to progress with her for a very long time. So don't freak out if you find yourself unable to progress with her. You need to do a lot of progress in the main story first.
In regards to your thoughts regarding the main dungeons, in the first 2 your party members were constantly saying that "sure we can take a detour but we really should do the main objective as soon as possible" while for this one Galica was very clear in sqying that we should prepare
i have to say, you gotta treat them locking out rank ups as how the character is thinking contextually. its a given why the characters are unavailable to think about anything else with a necromancer and child abductor on the loose while louis soiree is the team going on the offensive edit: "they'd be such a dickhead for giving me a chest right behind them after this (cutscene to return)." ...about that
Using mastered archetypes will NOT give you more A-EXP, all the extra exp you would have normally gotten becomes an item. However, there are many benefits to using a mastered archetype instead of switching to a new one: - Archetypes give you stat bonuses based on their level, so a master archetype not only has more moves, it also has better stats them a level one - Having A-EXP as items gives you a lot of flexibility, if you ever find yourself wanting a specific move on a character you can just level their respective archetype until you can unlock it, instead of grinding that specific class - Finally, there are times when you just want/need to use a certain archetype on a character and can’t afford to spend a whole dungeon using a different class (that's specially useful if you don’t like how a certain archetype plays) A-EXP is the biggest limiting factor in this game, you probably won't even master all the basic archetypes with the protagonist, much less your party members, so you gain a lot by specializing characters
Also you may not be getting more A-Exp but it does allow you to transfer the xp earned by the Mc over to strohl if you wanted. Like you mentioned it’s just way more flexible earning the items
blessed water or any other type of purifyiing water is easiest to get when you find a dungeon that has the appropriate mimic walking around which you can just engage in squad battle(like in the tomb of lament). just engage in a squad battle. steal it and then run away. you can then engage and steal again etc.
personally, i never really had any problem with how the party members were available for follower ranks. i just did what i wanted in the game and it worked out fine. theres plenty time in the game to finish all their follower quests so i wouldnt really stress about what to do first. going with the flow worked fine for me and i still had time to spare
A few tips: The Stormy Sea Ring works for *all* inclement weathers instead of just storms in brilehaven, for example sandflashes back in Martira, which is really useful to keep in mind going forward. The nidia shopkeeper in brilehaven that sells one thing per day sells an equipment called Archetypal Ring on Watersday that increases A-EXP gain from turn based combat for each party member that equips them, so get multiple of it if you can. The ranked coliseum fights can be done at night, if you dont have anything else to do its a good option as it also gives you an increase in Courage. There is a podium argument in Brilehaven, try not to miss it.
1:29:50 you misunderstood how the gambling works, his gamble is what range of rank do you expect to be on august 13th. Which basically means if your ranking is better then 30th you would lose the bet on that day. It's not a bad option to go that way. The problem is that debating the other candidates can increase your ranking, which of course influences your bet
Though this game certainly hasn't shied away from darker moments, both in the main story and in the bonding moments. I was still pretty shocked at one of Heismay's bonding ranks having a cliffhanger ending of his sons urn being stolen. Feels kind of messed up at how you can just leave the poor old guy separated from his only child for weeks, if you put off continue his bonding stuff (because of wanting to be optimal).
the reason just having everyone have their current class be mastered is when you think about it get 1000 exp on everyone you have at the current moment and that's 4 leaves of light so essentially that 1000 exp gets multiplied by the number of party members you have
im ngl that toothbrush guy's problem is so specific that i suspect someone had said teeth problems while making these quests lmao because good lord, i feel that. if you have bad teeth you cant enjoy food and you cant go out and have fun, it hurts and just takes whatever little joy you have left in life
Merry Christmas Nico and to all of the Picky Penguins! Thanks for all of your amazing videos and I’m looking forward to another year with you and the SSLP! 🥰☃️❤️
I think part of your issue with the "you need to progress with the story to do a party members event on the Gauntlet Runner" is a result of you being TOLD about that. If you didn't know about that, then you obviously wouldn't have the expectation that it's a thing, so when it changes immediately, you wouldn't notice anything. That's how I was, and I'm sure that's how most people were, because I didn't know that in the early dungeons you couldn't hang out with party members if you didn't do the main dungeon. That said, the thing with the dungeon difficulty is very clearly flagged. I'm not sure how you got the expectation that the game wanted you to do the optional dungeons first, because the game very explicity said in the first dungeon "This optional dungeon is way too tough for you right now" with Birgitta's dungeon. The game saying "We should prepare before entering Louis' Gauntlet Runner" is the game's way of telling you that the Gauntlet Runner is harder than the optional dungeon, which was not true in Grand Trad.
Sad you didn't do the other rival gauntlet runner (could have hit all three if you went to the tower first, then the forest after), won't spoil who it is but it IS someone you haven't fought before Nico, not the old guy Goddard. (And this is actually your only chance to fight them too.)
I honestly don't think I ever noticed "from now on you're not locked out of party member SLs". I simply checked who was around and played it by ear. I _did_ notice characters didn't want to hang out in the first month, and I did do some later story dungeons later on from optional stuff, but I don't remember ever registering that characters were _now_ being available from the get-go. I will agree there are random mechanics in this game that are not well communicated or arbitrary. Things like the vagueness of whether a social link stage will be runner-only or not. I sort of get why - it's more natural to find out character actions in the moment than to be able to predict so far ahead - but it's also kinda annoying.
Merry Christmas to you and everyone. ^_^ The side quest are interesting and the social links are great, especially these from your party members. They are so emotional, tragic and symathetic when they told the protagonist their backstories and try to walk the path of the future and solve some family problems/business/issues, too. I am looking forward to the next part.
Very minor future sidequest spoilers: If you ever go to another tower just like the one in this episode, you may want to consider not picking up all the items, leaving one or two here and there at strategic places. Because while you can't normally save in the middle of a dungeon, picking up an item serves as an autosave, and you will eventually have to return to those towers, so if you pick up all the items now, you'll have no autosaves when you go back, which will make things a fair bit harder later. Might not be too big a deal on Normal difficulty though. (This only applies to the towers, not any other dungeon.)
This game is very good about always having something available that is worth doing to make progress, which is why I don't think locking you out of bonds occasionally is really a problem. Even if you don't know that you'll have plenty of time leftover at the end, you should at least understand that doing bonds are not the only form of progress in the game. If there's no bonds available one day then that's a great time to work on Royal Virtues, or head out to a dungeon. If you're on the gauntlet runner then read books or hang out with party members for virtues. You're a little too hyperfocused on the idea of getting your party members maxed out asap, but your early party members are the easiest to max, since you have them the longest. You don't need to worry about maxing them out asap. It's not really about playing optimally imo, it's about being flexible with what you do with your time. You make the most of your time by looking at your currently available options and choosing what is most beneficial atm. I think that is what they want players to do rather than fixate on the mechanics that are going on under the hood.
Cathrina is NOT locked out if you miss running into her at this point. I missed running into her during this section of the game, but I still managed to max her out before the end. It takes a while, but eventually you’ll be able to find an informant in a future area who sells you her location, allowing you to visit her directly and continue her story.
Someone mentioned in another comment that he can just go to a side town (like where he got the toothbrush) and that will be enough to do the follower event and still be free at night. So honestly no big deal. I haven’t tried it myself yet but I did do something similar later in game.
One tip with the elemental ghost things that helped me a lot is to stock up/use elemental items to guarantee the extra turns on anyone who doesn’t have the right element. The extra 150 damage from each character before their normal attack helped me so much with those guys. Also they tend to be the same element and change for each section of the game, so if you see a green one here it’s not a bad idea to just keep a good lightning spell on a character until you see the color change in the next section
Leveling up a mastered archetype in order to get AEXP leaves and directly leveling up the desired archetype both earn the same amount of AEXP. Even so, there are two big advantages to leveling up mastered archetypes: Strength and flexibility. First, strength. As you know, archetypes gain stats as they level. For example, a level 20 Warrior is stronger than a level 1 Swordmaster. Since you gain the same amount of AEXP either way, there's no reason not to just sit on the Warrior until you have enough leaves to jump up to level 12 or whatever on Swordmaster. The same is true for archetypes between different lineages: a level 20 Warrior has on average better stats than a level 1 Commander, so even if you plan to level up Strohl as Commander, there's no advantage to doing so right away. Which leads into the second advantage, flexibility. Leveling up mastered archetypes allows you to "bank" your AEXP and defer judgement on what classes to level up. For example, there was that one boss with Tetrakarn, but you didn't have anyone leveled up enough in Seeker for Tetrabreak. If instead of leveling up a bunch of different classes, you had instead allowed your AEXP to accumulate in your inventory in item form, you could've broken the piggy bank open and gotten what you needed right away. Basically, if you get into the habit of resting on your laurels and leveling up mastered archetypes, not only are your characters generally stronger because of better stats, it also reduces the burden of having to plan ahead.
Idk if someone else has said this or came to this conclusion but I think when your party member’s follower bonds are more readily available is when there’s a more clear deadline during certain story bits. So an example is that when Zorba had his “Day of Calamity” way back ago, we didn’t know what that meant and what it would entail so we wanted to stop it as soon as possible. Whereas in this one with infiltrating the Charadrius, we know when the soirée is, so we know how long we have to get the infiltration done by, therefore we have some breathing room and can plan properly.
During my first playthrough, the way I eventually took to levelling up party member's classes was to switch whoever was in reserve to the class I wanted them to max out so that they could level up while I farmed EXP. It also helped to keep a reserved party member on a mastered class to farm Hero's Leaf of Lights.
The party members might be available before finishing the main dungeons from here on, but it's still a good idea to finish them as quick as possible just because there are still some bonds and stuff that can't be done until after the dungeon after the Charadrius specifically is finished.
I might provide a better explanation/approach for grinding archetypes based on my experience with the game: I found the best way to grind for other archetypes is like what the penguins said about using a Master class but equip them with the Accessory called "Archetypal Ring" which will increase the Archetype's EXP gained thus speeding up the level up process, giving you a *Hero's Leaf of Light* (1000 EXP for Archetypes) every time. I recommend using the Thief or Merchant class for the grinding so you gain a lot of loot along the way! *P.S Wish you a wonderful Christmas Nico!
No, the way the betting works is, you're betting what rank you will be ON August 13th. It's not "I will be at least rank 30 by then", it's "On August 13th, I will be anywhere between Rank 30 and rank 21". If you get to Rank 20, and you bet on yourself being between Rank 30 and 21, you lose your bet.
So just to clarify on the archetype farming comments, getting the archetype experience item from an already completed archetype is 1 to 1 the exact same as if you had instead had that person as an unleveled archetype. The kicker is that if you say have everyone except Heismay as "finished" archetypes, you will be getting 3 of those archetype items every time the the other 3 people, Strohl, Hulkenberg, and Bizzle, "level" up their archetypes. This means you would be able to channel all archetype experience gained into Heismay, so it ends up being an alright strat for leveling a single party member in archetypes. I'd say there are vastly better and quicker ways of getting A-EXP in the game but they cant be done until you are at the end of the game so there's not much point in discussing them now. As it stands, it can be effective for catching up a new guy like Heismay with everyone else.
I do advise that you at least master/unlock all the classes for at least the protagonist. The reason is because as you unlock more and more Archetypes for a character More gives rewards, the rewards for most of the game are just A-exp items but the rewards from the last few are literally ultimate gear or weapons for the character's main classes. In the protag's case he get's special equipment from 70% Archetype completion onwards, as he gets extra goodies than everyone else and trust me you at least want it from him. Everyone else is optional and not really worth the effort (I should know im crazy enough to make that effort). To be clear these rewards come from unlocking the Archetype not mastering them, that said since end game archetypes typically involve mastering prior ones its usually hand in hand, as a bonus you at least get bonus permanent stat boosts. All this said its something you can care about in the end game and not worry about for 99% of the game.
I never had any weirdness with any of the social link stuff? I played the whole game just making sure to not waste afternoons, and I saw and did everything in a first casual playthrough. The only time you're fucking up by having an afternoon with no social links available, and not using that time to use sidequests. IMO I wouldn't overthink it. You know enough about Atlus games to rock it. The game is pretty generous all around.
So like the idea of grinding out a mastered class for leaves is more related to getting certain classes up fast. Say you have a full party with mastered classes that keep getting 1k exp items every time they get 1k excess exp, you can much faster pour it into a single archetype than using that archetype alongside other characters who are also gaining exp for their archetypes. You can also use the one archetype you wanna grind levels for alongside characters with maxed archetypes and it will yield the same result. It's just a good way to get to Elite Archetypes for characters you want certain archetypes for.
Anyone else noticed that nico was nibbling/snacking on something before/around battle with kathrina? Would you mind at least telling me what you were eating nico? Im just genuinely curious about it
I never had any trouble figuring what dungeon I "should" do since all of them have a request associated and those have a rank so it was easy to just do lower ranked requests first
You get the leaves after 1000 Aexp but if every member is a maxed class you can get multiple leaves for that 1000 Aexp. Meaning you can turn that 1000 exp into 4000 Aexp. It helps when you want a specific archetype to get leveled
One aspect of this game that changed was having multiple run potential. They cut a lot out which lead to too much time. They advertised it as not having enough time, each playthrough is different. It didn't end up that way tho.
Your right nico it is confusingg with friendship stuff. I didnt even realize it was thing for entier game. I just assumed it was entire rng until i watched your lp
Why? Probably because they don’t want you to finish all the followers events before the third dungeon. I mean sometimes social links depends on main story bits before they unlock like in P3. Think of it this way if it helps? My guess is that they maybe wanted to highlight how characters grew throughout their journey and not like in P4 and P5 where characters who were supposed to have their “revelations” in SL and then during the main story they act like they never developed. Maybe not, but personally that would be my excuse.
I'd recommend checking out the coliseum when you can as you get some really good rewards, if you clear all the bronze rank fights you unlock an equitable item that helps with leveling up Archetype's.
It does appear that the game is still giving you a bit of a challenge, but I think you’ll do fine switch to Hard mode at this point. Also you did miss a decent item at the tower by leaving instead of exploring more. Nothing critical & it’ll be outclassed eventually, so you can live without.
Not saying using a mastered class to get the leaf is "better", it's more of a "what is the formation you are currently comfortable with". As you have seen that some dungeon and bosses have their gimmicks, so if you try too have to level up each archetype individually, some bosses will destroy your team, or you got a synthesis that you like to use, if you change the archetype you'll lose the synthesis. So might as well lkeep using the same archetype and get the leaf to upgrade the other archetype that you know you won't be using
The best way to level up archetypes is just just have them on the person and auto kill a bunch of guys. Putting them on a mastered archetype and leveling it up will only give 1000 exp anyway, so may as well just have'em on a non-mastered archetype. It's really only until end game/you mastered all of the archetypes you wanted to master for certain characters do you then put them on a mastered archetype.
8;50 god, after this.... should Nico play Frostpunk? Specifically, the Winterhome scenario. Cause yeah. Running a city is hard. Let alone a whole kingdom.
Nico for the system of the party members locking out, I never had the issue personally while playing using a guide because completion was my goal, I fully agree with you. I also want to point out why it feels this way, even in Persona it had this mechanic but it was only affecting new members if you remember, Yusuke couldn't bond until after the 2nd palace was complete for example nor could Yuki until you beat her dungeon in 4 if I recall right. But I'll play devil's advocate here too, there is a big change here in theming which may have pushed development this way, the theme of anxiety. How often does anxiety force you to focus on one problem until it's resolved because your mind literally can't focus on anything else? Honestly focusing on the anxiety of the issue might be the core reason why they change that mechanic because it is anxiety that is pushing you to do these things The fear of not completing these bonds The fear of not beating the dungeon etc. But still I highly agree if I was to have done this guide list I would have the exact same complaints
Honestly, I've done it guideless (and did the side stuff first because Strohl and the tutorial box told me to and because it was highlighted in red) and barely noticed. It didn't bother me, either, since I was focused on completing the side quests.
"It'd be so dickheaded if there was a chest behind him but they give me that option but I don't think they'd do that." -Nico discussing the tower he just cleared. It's a good thing there isn't a chest behind him, but there is a loose item on the floor above him through the door behind him, so the devs definitely are not in the clear for that. The missing item was a 77 def helmet that gives +1 to all stats (according to gameFAQs). For bosess in towers like that one there is always an item behind the boss for some god forsaken reason. I'm honestly impressed that a game this good finds so many minor ways to frustrate the player that I halfway think it is intentional. Edit: I found what the missed item was and added it into the comment.
Personally I felt SO SMART noticing in the background before the boss fight that there was a door behind the boss. So I didn’t miss the item. Personally I never go back, Plateau is right there and he can teleport me if I want to go back so why shouldn’t I take the time to check the map for missed treasure on other floors before leaving? XD
@Cosplaythief I noticed it too because of the door (which is how I knew to make this comment), but it still is super rude of the game to give you the option to teleport back immediately when there is more of the dungeon left.
I would like to add to the comment of the day. When you asked Louise if he killed the king and prince, he confessed to killing the king instantly but never said anything about the prince. While the characters of your party are still devoted to the cause, I think this sets up the player to start doubting it and sympathize with Loise, at least a bit.
Are we gonna have a rant about how much the gates on the follower system sucks every episode? Not gonna say it's not bad design (though I didn't know it was even gated like that before watching this let's play), but it's just not that big an issue. Nico doesn't like it. Fair. I get it. Can we move on?
This game's characters are so goated.
Btw, with the holidays here, this is the last video for a little bit, penguins. We will be back potentially this Friday with more Metaphor, and a new series next week! Hope you all have a great holiday!
About your question with leveling at the start you are right that both methods are the same in terms of raw numbers.
so the best way of actually leveling archetype is as follows
Equip yourself with the archetype you want to use in combat, doesnt matter what it is doesnt matter what level it is
and only switch archetypes if you want to swap your strategy, or if you are mc and say swap to merchant to farm money.
that way you will always have peak combat performance and either level what you are already using, or get the leaves to level what you want to level to level.
having everyone be on a mastered archetype, assuming it does not hinder your combat performance, has one advantage tho.
It allows you to funnel exp into one person, since everyone makes items and you can control where the items go.
I figured, happy holidays and stay safe
Merry Christmas everyone! Happy holidays 😊❤
Happy holidays Nico
Merry Christmas Nico
Now that you've fought Lina and went to Heismays village, theres an important revelation I need everyone to realize.
Heismay doesnt wear pants.
Just like the Sonic characters!
@@DRAG0NSPIRIT10 Yikes he may not have been a kidnapper but we probably would have had to bail him out of public indecency charges then
@@Don_LUSH Only if we brought him back to civilization still nude 😆, can't really press charges on a man choosing to live nude whilst never leaving a cave in the desert.
You can't hang out with Neuras while the Gauntlet Runner is moving, because he's the driver. That's why he's an evening timeslot.
Bizzle: "Hey Neuras, can you look at this real quick?"
Neuras: "Sure my boy! Let's have a look."
*Chaos ensues as the Gauntlet Runner ever so slowly steers off a cliff as Hulkenberg yells out*
"GODAMMIT NEURAS!"
(Unless you like role-playing a sociopath.)
I don't miss any of that stuff. There are probably ways to make the social sim stuff more complex without that busywork, but for now I think this is a step in the right direction.
@@Zeik56 That's fair enough!
You do revisit the towers later, so you can grab it then.
Gallica, Strohl, and the tutorial box, you mean.
I went back and checked the video where his free time began for this segment.
Finally, Strohl gets to be in the thumbnail! XD
i have to say, you gotta treat them locking out rank ups as how the character is thinking contextually. its a given why the characters are unavailable to think about anything else with a necromancer and child abductor on the loose while louis soiree is the team going on the offensive
edit: "they'd be such a dickhead for giving me a chest right behind them after this (cutscene to return)." ...about that
If you camp out at night, you can cook a second meal that day even if you already cooked one earlier in the afternoon
Using mastered archetypes will NOT give you more A-EXP, all the extra exp you would have normally gotten becomes an item. However, there are many benefits to using a mastered archetype instead of switching to a new one:
- Archetypes give you stat bonuses based on their level, so a master archetype not only has more moves, it also has better stats them a level one
- Having A-EXP as items gives you a lot of flexibility, if you ever find yourself wanting a specific move on a character you can just level their respective archetype until you can unlock it, instead of grinding that specific class
- Finally, there are times when you just want/need to use a certain archetype on a character and can’t afford to spend a whole dungeon using a different class (that's specially useful if you don’t like how a certain archetype plays)
A-EXP is the biggest limiting factor in this game, you probably won't even master all the basic archetypes with the protagonist, much less your party members, so you gain a lot by specializing characters
The depressing part about the comment of the day is that it's happening right now in real life..and not just in one country.
personally, i never really had any problem with how the party members were available for follower ranks. i just did what i wanted in the game and it worked out fine. theres plenty time in the game to finish all their follower quests so i wouldnt really stress about what to do first. going with the flow worked fine for me and i still had time to spare
A few tips:
The Stormy Sea Ring works for *all* inclement weathers instead of just storms in brilehaven, for example sandflashes back in Martira, which is really useful to keep in mind going forward.
Yeah sometimes I feel like our comments backfire on things. Like an autopsy report that hasn’t been updated, the way to tackle the dungeon changed.
In fairness, don't they also say "We should prepare ourselves for the dungeon" for both Matira and the Cathedral as well?
The reason why it wook so long for Strohl to be on the thumbnail, is because he couldn't decide on what pose he wanted
Sad you didn't do the other rival gauntlet runner (could have hit all three if you went to the tower first, then the forest after), won't spoil who it is but it IS someone you haven't fought before Nico, not the old guy Goddard. (And this is actually your only chance to fight them too.)
Technically nothing stopping him from doing it later, although it would be a bit of a detour.
Happy holidays to Nico, Bernie & all the penguins! Really glad to know this community!
Merry Christmas to you and everyone. ^_^
The side quest are interesting and the social links are great, especially these from your party members.
1:05:04 actually Nico...
You actually can complete Catherina's bond if you don't run into her gauntlet runner at this point in the story, it just requires a few extra steps.
I'm curious what you have to do now.
Cathrina is NOT locked out if you miss running into her at this point. I missed running into her during this section of the game, but I still managed to max her out before the end. It takes a while, but eventually you’ll be able to find an informant in a future area who sells you her location, allowing you to visit her directly and continue her story.
That’s cool
Oh right, this is mostly for flavour, but you should talk to the people in Martira now, they all have... opinions on what happened to Joanna.
It's actually insane how much extra damage enemies do in hard mode, it almost makes the other modes look like easy mode.
I’m waiting for Nico to hit another Gauntlet Runner social link block and realize he did all the side quest locations in a single trip already.
Someone mentioned in another comment that he can just go to a side town (like where he got the toothbrush) and that will be enough to do the follower event and still be free at night. So honestly no big deal. I haven’t tried it myself yet but I did do something similar later in game.
Thanks for the episode Nico. Hope you have a Merry Christmas. :)
Heismay: Come, Robizzle! We must save my son's remains!
Bizzle: Holy graverobbing! You got it, Batmay!
I might provide a better explanation/approach for grinding archetypes based on my experience with the game:
I found the best way to grind for other archetypes is like what the penguins said about using a Master class but equip them with the Accessory called "Archetypal Ring" which will increase the Archetype's EXP gained thus speeding up the level up process, giving you a
*Hero's Leaf of Light* (1000 EXP for Archetypes) every time.
1:36:51 Oh my god they gave Gallica the Navi line. At least this time it was actually cute.
I just realized something, unless you count the Gunner, it feels strange that we didn't have an Archery-based Class, isn't it?
Im just genuinely curious about it
I never had any trouble figuring what dungeon I "should" do since all of them have a request associated and those have a rank so it was easy to just do lower ranked requests first
46:27 as i remember the protection save you only from other contestants, no?
pretty sure monsters, humans, can gobble you up gladly.
It seems to only stop other people, so non candidates are affected, but not monsters.
Every person is a contestant and could potentially win the throne.
Monsters are not contestants.
@Gestrid right.
You get the leaves after 1000 Aexp but if every member is a maxed class you can get multiple leaves for that 1000 Aexp. Meaning you can turn that 1000 exp into 4000 Aexp. It helps when you want a specific archetype to get leveled
it is not inposable to max out Catherina even if you miss her here, you simply need to pay an informant late game to find her.
Nico you missed it. Top of tower always has an item. Not a chest but a sparkle. I can't believe you didn't notice the door behind that tower boss...
One aspect of this game that changed was having multiple run potential. They cut a lot out which lead to too much time.
They advertised it as not having enough time, each playthrough is different. It didn't end up that way tho.
Feel like this was for the best anyway
Your right nico it is confusingg with friendship stuff. I didnt even realize it was thing for entier game. I just assumed it was entire rng until i watched your lp
You can change in your settings not to have motion blur when running or on your sword.
I don't think he minds it. He hasn't mentioned it that I can remember.
"I've been waiting for this!" oh wait wrong character
The tower on hard mode was annoying with my MP, I had to use my MP items, only to learn the farming spot had lower level monsters to use Mage on.
I'd recommend checking out the coliseum when you can as you get some really good rewards, if you clear all the bronze rank fights you unlock an equitable item that helps with leveling up Archetype's.
never emptying cup?
cup + elixir + straw + ducktape + hat = beer hat of never dieing
So might as well lkeep using the same archetype and get the leaf to upgrade the other archetype that you know you won't be using
13:18 I did this on my playthrough and she left but i did still max her out so its aight
The best way to level up archetypes is just just have them on the person and auto kill a bunch of guys. Putting them on a mastered archetype and leveling it up will only give 1000 exp anyway, so may as well just have'em on a non-mastered archetype. It's really only until end game/you mastered all of the archetypes you wanted to master for certain characters do you then put them on a mastered archetype.

roll the credits
LOVE THESE VIDS 😊
I just changed my difficulty to Hard, it can be pretty challenging with the enemy having one extra turn.
8;50 god, after this.... should Nico play Frostpunk? Specifically, the Winterhome scenario. Cause yeah. Running a city is hard. Let alone a whole kingdom.
You can do both gauntlet runners
TOMORROW'S CHRISTMAS DAY!
✨Awesome ✨
🎄Merry Christmas everyone 🎁
Manjula want a cook yeah 👍
So is this a sequel to Persona 4? Gasp!
Strohl is best bro!
Nico have a break over Christmas please. We will be ok!!!
That's what he's doing. I think he said so in the pinned comment. His editor is away on vacation, so he's gonna take a break, too.
@ it honestly is. I think every tower dungeon is like that too.
It also emphasizes the party's full-on tunnel vision
Are we gonna have a rant about how much the gates on the follower system sucks every episode? Not gonna say it's not bad design (though I didn't know it was even gated like that before watching this let's play), but it's just not that big an issue. Nico doesn't like it. Fair. I get it. Can we move on?
