With so many different options (which are fantastic) it is difficult to know what mode you're in. My question is: How do you shut the camera off , and know it's off and not recording? Great little camera and buy!!!
Just got my camera in mail. This video is a godsend. Could not have decoded the instruction as well as this video instruction. Time setting is still an unknown. Also distant past date on files created are baffling? Maybe I can figure out motion detection - some day. Pix I did get are decent for such an inexpensive and tiny camera.
Also I would highly recommend NOT charging it for the full 3 hours. Rather unplug it every 20 minutes to prevent over heating. Then plug it back in when it's cooled down enough. Then repeat the process until all charging intervals have added up to the optimal max battery.

I think they mean million not billion pixels :) A billion pixels (not even 1.2billion) in 4:3 ratio would be something like 35000 pixels across by 26000 pixels vertically. = 1000 Megapixels. Typical DSLR single images (with expensive high-quality sensors and lenses) are only into 20-something Mpixels at current at most :) NASA won't be replacing Gaia's sensors with this anytime soon!
Do i have a Video-out Signal at the yellow Cinch cable while charging/powering the device? Would like to send a permanent control Video-Signal from a small theaterstage to the backstage area. Therefore the camera would need permanent AC/DC power over USB. At the yellow Cinch cable there is no HD Signal, only SD , or? Which pixel resolution is at this yellow Cinch cable available? And is there a possibility to get an HDMI-Video-out-signal somehow?
you forgot to explain how to make sure that the pictures and videos have the proper date... and how to turn it off properly. I had issues doing that. I know that turning it on requires you to hold the on/off button, but the same thing doesn't seem to apply when trying to turn it off.
I think there is a short in the cable that came with the camera. When plugged into a USB port and the camera, the cable gets so hot the insulation is starting to melt. The computer shuts off the USN port and reports the device is taking more power than can be supplied. A cable that came with my nikon will charge the camera bu not allow it to work when plugged in.
Yes I agree I could have toasted bread on top of the camera while iy was charging probably as it is too small there is no room for venting heat away from camera

How to start the "Motion Detect Mode"? In the Manual it says, you have to hold the Mode-Button 3 Seconds to start that mode, but it looks like, it doesn't work. Or is it a mistake in the manual?

Hi, notice your camera is on all day, is it plugged into the power sorce or is the batterys like 9 hours?? Know it only recorded vea motion detection but still would have to be "on" to notice motion in the first place. Thanks

Well, if you connect the USB port to a PC, there's no way to watch the video stream... But you can see the video on the yellow RCA with a monitor... so not quite a web cam, it is more useful as a portable DVR...
Something completely missed is how this camera works as a car dvr. Quite simple really, supplying power via the usb automatically starts the camera recording. The confusion arises from not understanding instructions, i.e the cameras led goes off when in all recording modes, except photo.
Yes, just edit the text file on your TF/Mini SD card with the current date & time and save it. If you put a y after the time it timestamps your videos and an N turns it off.

Hello Banggood, just have bought and unpacked this device. During my connection to PC LED is constantly red and the whole device reached so high temperature that it became really HOT after 10 minutes of USB connection. Is it normal? Camera shots video pretty fine for its size

When you plug the usb cable in it will first try to set up the camera as a thumb drive, just press the On/Off button again and it will setup as a webcam. Mine uses the driver GENERAL- UVC which was found automatically by windows. want to go back to it being a usb drive just press the On/Off button again. MY problem is trying to use the camera hooked to a Floureon DVR with the supplied cable I get nothing.

Only if you use a 5V adapter, or a battery bank, it seems the computer/smartphone USB port takes control of the USB circuit and cannot be used for both charging AND operating the camera
My father bought this camera, and when I switch the modes it's only blue and red(yes, it is the SQ8 MINI DV), there's no a mix of blue-and-red for 1080p mode...

You'll have to connect the camera to a PC, and after presing the On button once, you should see a drive in Windows Explorer with two directories called VIDEO and PHOTOS, there is where the files are located

I have attempted to charge my mini camera several times the red light flashes for 3 hours but nothing happens. I insert the TF card the camera will not turn on it appears to not be holding a charge what so ever I am going to attempt to reset and I will edit this afterwards. I have reset the camera the red light is no longer blanking on back is steady so I'm going to Assume that it is now charging. Three times? You must have better sample than mine. Mine blinks red only once and no other signs of life. It appears that charging can easily overheat the camera and kill it permanently.

If this doesn't work,you could press the reset port to reset the camera. Hope it can help!:)

PS you'd also need lens good enough to resolve the licence plate, and a method to get rid of the atmosphere distortion.

I thought the camera had a max capacity of 32 GB ?

I have rather question how to use it on the second day, beacuse as far as i know, for many people it has been broken before.

Three times? You must have better sample than mine. Mine blinks red only once and no other signs of life. It appears that charging can easily overheat the camera and kill it permanently.

I have a couple of questions:
1) is it possible to record 24h without interruptions when it's charging over USB?
2) Does it automatically override the old footage with new one when the SD Card is full?
3) Does the IR automatically turn on when it's dark outside?
Because of vandalism I'd like to install it inside my car to monitor the surroundings 24h/24h day AND night plugged into a power bank over USB. Can I do this with this cam ? Thank you!

+acsmith54 Hi,I'd like to suggest you to try again in this way.Firstly, Create a TXT document named TIMERSET, then type the correct time in the TXT document,including year date time seconds, such as: 201604261036 , then save the document ,and move this TIMERSET documt to Mini camera TF card, then pull out the USB cable, then finishe setting the time. If this doesn't work,you could press the reset port to reset the camera.
