  • Sir David Attenborough paints a bleak picture of Earth's future, warning the extinction of much of the natural world is on the horizon as he speaks to Sky's Thomas Moore.
He told Sky News: "We have so much knowledge, skill and ingenuity.
“Of course we can do something about it. The question is how much.
“Homo salients is a very ingenious species. It got us into this mess, true, but it knew not what it did. I believe now is the moment to use that ingenuity and that passion to get us out of it.”

His an amazing man who's still optimistic. I wish I shared his optimism; I honestly fear we've already passed the threshold for overpopulation and are full of enough hubris to have knowingly created the conditions for our own extinction. David Attenborough is a national treasure.

If a politician said immigration is a threat to our nations it would be “fear mongering”. So why is saying the same thing about climate change any different?

    • @deviladvocate21

Josh K. And neither does so called climate change, mate. Experts cannot correctly predict temperatures days in advance, so don’t tell me that they know what the earths climate will be within 100 years. It’s all a lie.
"It is no secret that a lot of climate-change research is subject to opinion, that climate models sometimes disagree even on the signs of the future changes.” ~ Monika Kopacz, atmospheric scientist.

Problems like climate change are merely the symptoms of deeper universal issues regarding the nature human beings and our true intentions. In order to resolve these issues one must get to the root and address the underlying cause at an individual level. We can start by separating our needs from our wants and practicing methods (such as yoga, meditation etc.) that help us become more satisfied and control our minds.

I have grown up watching Sir David on TV and always enjoyed it but I'm sorry to say that he is wrong about this. Blaming the CA fires on co2 is fallacious. There have been devastating fires here in Australia and California since before history which very obviously was not caused by human co2 emissions, so to blame the current problems on this gas is misguided and speculative at best.

We are very lucky. 1500 active volcanos give us co2 every day for the last millions of years. Without enough co2 all plants would die. And humans too.
Climate changes all the time and there's nothing we can do about it. Thank god for that.

All the glory belongs to God for this wonderful Earth which was clearly designed for us all. I love Attenborough's silky delivery, but he never gives any glory to God, and that leaves me sadly wanting. Also I prefer truth to silky delivery. The blue Planet is actually a Plane, and
David is paid way too much by Freemasons to admit that. Still I live in the hope that he will.
