Nextbots use a navmesh instead of nodes.
I just need a terminator that pretends to be an npc then tries killing you once your in sight like in the movie. So you could have background npcs and have to try and survive the terminator.

this is by far the scariest gmod npc in 2024 overall. the movement and hiding behaviour is absolutely next level and it’s so incredibly anxiety inducing on the right maps when you see how systematically it sweeps areas.
PS2 was my whole childhood.
I remember playing King Kong, Godzilla Save the earth, SOCOM II, Ace Combat 3, Transformers(Armada), War of the monsters, psychonauts, the list goes on and the games were an absolute blast to play.
this is a nextbot made in true passion unlike some pngs with "revolutionary abilities"
this means the base is not useless and it's used the wrong way most of the time meaning the base is poorly performed thanks to some idiots

The model is from the game Terminator 3 The Redemption. In that game, the more damage you take, the skin falls off, revealing the endoskeleton underneath. Pretty cool how they used that here.
Kinda wish they gave it its own animations. Rather than skittishly moonwalking away from you, imagine how badass it would be if it just slightly turned its head to look at you while it walked away.

Brian is really quiet, fast and creepy ;-;
This could be a cool multi-player gamemode.
Up to 8 players have to survive 1 or 2 terminators disguised as players.
They can't trust anyone as players have to seek out weapons and items before the terminator and hide, and VC is proximity based. Then they can see whose who and survive together to kill the machine or wait a timer and hide.
it already does exactly that if you install proximity voice. its absolutely terrifying

I would desire to see an NPC that makes use of artificial neurons and deep learning, that would be scary awesome. Because mod creators keep creating lines of code and a set of rules, what Artificial Neurons and Deep Learning does is "let the AI create it's own set of rules" to learn, and it really does that, it really is an "artificial" intelligence when it gets to do that.
What's achievable with REAL A.I. is... quite scary actually, you've seen countless A.I.s nowadays, some being Stable Diffusion, DALL-E, ChatGPT, etc.
I don't think this is possible within the source engine. Maybe source 2?

The idea of the mod is nice, but the execution is ugh... His behaviour is just nothing like what the terminator is supposed to be like 😮💨
what the hell do you mean? the execution is incredible. yeah its not like a terminator, but wheres the fun in that? thats just a standard npc, anime pfp.
also he's easy to trap and kill using his own mechanics.
@@i_like_commenting_ok Well, the fun of the terminator actually acting like the terminator would be immersion. When the terminator in question acts almost nothing like one, it breaks immersion.
Maybe i shouldn't be too harsh on this mod, i mean, it certainly serves as a nice stepping stone for future terminator mods, but here's hoping someone eventually makes a terminator that acts more like the movies (i think Mr. X from RE2 Remake would serve as a great template for his general behaviour, just add to it a terminator skin, make it use guns obviously, and give it lines of dialogue)

that’s not true he actually does do that. the ai does that at first to give you a false sense of security
Idea: Nextbot A.I. "It" from the horror movie "It follows" - a creature that walks to you slowly.

This NPC is really terrifying with buffed default weapons
missed oportunity to finish the video saying "Hasta la vista"
So, unless I'm mistaken the mod page for this Nextbot does mention there's certain weapons they're not going to pickup and it mentions Admin Guns which is fine with me because at that point you're going to be spawn camped.

So when 100 terminators is spawned your game lags, but when 1:1 scale of multiverse your pc is not even dropping a frame

We need more advanced ai . It's 30 years of the pretty mich same enemy behavior . Really intelligent ones don't exist yet .I really hope that changes soon with the new ai's now

its the standart nextbot behavior... outside of an interractive model and picking up weapons, the AI is standart nextbot ai.
Are you sure? I'm impressed by the capabilities of this Nextbot to flank and perform other intelligent maneuvers. Haven't seen anything like it.

it doesnt stalk you it finds out a way to attack you that it will have an advantage like the rear I was playing a mall map and with some soldiers tried to kill it in the cause it ran away than after 10 seconds it came out behind us surprising all of us

Not sure if anyone's played this but this reminds me of the gameplay in The Terminator for DOS back in '91. You could play as Kyle while protecting Sarah as the terminator stalked the two of you in a large open map. Is this mod a callback to that game? Is it possible that this could be replicated in a large map here in Gmod as well?

I think a better skin for this would be the predator and like someone else in the comments said it would be super cool to have traps it would set. Like a predator.
