Honestly, the reason I loved this song was because of the twist. It also showed girls to walk away from a relationship that showed any red flags, and Ryan's and Kevin's redemption was gold. It's sad to see people quoting it the wrong way.
This is how I saw it when I watched it (I’m a girl). So many women will go after guys that treat them like garbage, and they usually stay when everyone else can see how toxic the relationship is. It’s never worth staying with someone because of how long you’ve been with them if they don’t want to change to be better. You should want to be with someone, not feel like they’re your only option, because there are more out there but your person should be the one you choose to be with “through sickness and in health”.
on the one hand i can't believe there's people who fail to recognise that the song is ironic (which is part of why it's so hilarious) but on the other hand.... i've been on the internet long enough to not be That surprised
@@enabled26 you're not a weirdo man, I just think that the people saying "do nice guys really finish last" are just joking with him and he didn't get the sarcasm behind it. I've never met anyone that doesn't actually get it but hey maybe I'm wrong
There is just something magical about the first 5 years of RUclips as it really felt like my own personal cult or fandom I belong. Yeah this is when the phrase "1 Millions Subscribers" was just an internet wet dream back in those days. We were all a tight knit community from 2005 to 2012 and everything started to fall apart from there. Corporate motives for this website really puts me down at times but yeah the good times will always be in our hearts. Thanks Ryan your a legend.
When I was a youngin just finding this song in 2015, I remember this really sticking out to me and teaching me subconsciously a very valuable lesson about being yourself and being sweet to the girl you love. I can't believe there were people who would misinterpret such a straightforward song
When I was a young young kid watching this music video, I LOVED the twist. It really helped stamp out any chance of me ever giving into the so-called pressure to be a jerk. Because I almost gave into the idea of "nice guys finish last." I thought that, in order to find friends, and a girlfriend, and gain respect, I'd need to ditch my kindheartedness, and it nearly ruined who I was. Thanks Ryan, Chester, and Kev. this song really helped me through Middle School and High School.
the impact this had on asian friend groups man, my friends and i would sing this every recess when it first came out. then in high school when we met other asian groups in the city they all knew the lyrics too
Ryan I’ve been watching you since I could ever start watching RUclips man! It’s crazy how dominant you were in that era and how much you made RUclips better tbh I’m glad I got to watch actually funny skits, videos before RUclips became trash!! The nostalgia is unreal been subbed for like 9-10+ years just a different account rn but man amazing after all these years.
to be very fair he was apart of the old RUclipsrs who had to come up with newer and better skits and ideas wanting to do better each time. it was to annoying and hard especially since each year lesser quality videos showed up with more and more views. He's been streaming for a while, most people dont know that, Id like to think its his retirement, he prob gets money and chills.
he's said in interviews he's essentially half retired at this point, youtube took a massive toll on his mental health its pretty sad and he's pretty genuine and relatable talking about his struggles. I haven't seen his streams but I'd like to check them out its good to know he's able to take it easier on himself now dude earned his success
"But behind the scene she means the world to me, I wanna tell her that she's beautiful and show her that she's loved..." That last verse was the Twist that made me understood the song. I remember watching ya perform this song live too!
I think what's really great is that this song and video feels pretty timeless. Like if this video showed up today, I don't think you could tell this came out 10 years ago.
My brother introduced me to Ryan's channels way back then and we used to sing a lot of his songs together. Unfortunately he passed away in December so I can't share this video with him :(
In my high school, I borrowed a pen drive from my friend with around 10-15 odd music videos back in 2013 and "Nice Guys" was one of the videos. That compelled me search for it on YT along with Ryan's channel and that is actually how I started watching YT videos and following "RUclipsrs", after watching Linkin Park lyrics videos throughout my middle school. Jesus. Time doesn't fly-by, it fucks off
I first heard the song when I was in 8th grade, now I'm about to finish my senior year in university and I can still sing the song without missing a word
I literally remember the very, very end of 7th grade where the popular girls were fawning over this song nonstop And for once, I understood their taste in music. Despite the tendency internet comedy songs have to age like already expired milk, this song honestly holds up pretty damn well and, despite the misinterpretations, really brought it home with how the video portrayed the message. A RUclips classic, for real.
When I was a kid I loved this song, still has a catchy melody and good focus. Teaches you that girls might like bad guys, but they also want that bad guy to care about them and treat them right. It also shows how imo girls perspectives of how they want a bad guy until they get one and realize they got themselves into deep.
this song came out when i was 9 and the message was still so obvious LOL i rewatch every 5 years or so and i agree ryan, it's nice to revisit once in a while bc honestly the vocals are really good and i appreciate the nostalgia
10 years and still holds up as a banger song
It’s on my iTunes playlist haha
the same way baby by justin is still a banger?
lol I though you said you were 10 years old (rn) and it’s a banger
@Loaded Boys because I love Ryan Higa's videos, dude! Just because I'm an OSC RUclipsr, doesn't mean I only watch OSC content.
Never expected to see the Inanimate Insanity guy on here. Very cool.
Honestly, the reason I loved this song was because of the twist. It also showed girls to walk away from a relationship that showed any red flags, and Ryan's and Kevin's redemption was gold. It's sad to see people quoting it the wrong way.
Facts I see why it would bother Ryan
Holy crap i never really saw it that way from a girls perspective of listening-this really is a masterpiece

A master class in showing everyone how to treat people, and what to do when you're in a toxic relationship
He was so ahead of his time ugh ilhsm literally the mother of this platform
"yesterday was the 10 year anniversary of nice guys"
hold up, WHAT. i'm THAT old?!
It hurts even more to say that I'm almost just as old as public internet :(
Yes
fun fact: its also my birthday (on the anniversary)
iam TOO OLD
Ur 10 years old? 🤔
Ryan giggling at his own clips is so wholesome
ikr lol
Damn these Nigahiga songs inject too much nostalgia in these veins.
This song has some crack in it i swear
on the one hand i can't believe there's people who fail to recognise that the song is ironic (which is part of why it's so hilarious) but on the other hand.... i've been on the internet long enough to not be That surprised
Yeah, right?
not a single person doesn't get it
@@enabled26 no, everybody understands it. It literally explains it in the song.
@@aaronpacheco3553 Sadly some people don’t get it just like Ryan said in the video, I’m sorry for looking like a weirdo but it’s true

My childhood nostalgia is coming back to me, and I’m starting to miss it
Every year i go on a nostalgia trip watching all of ryan's songs
same it’s a good time

It’s a good but sad time , wish he still posted

This is the only song I'm addicted to that I refuse to listen to everyday
What
refuse to? why?
I have this mindset that if you keep repeating a song all day it gets boring, and I don't want that to happen to this song lol

Haven't heard or seen this in YEARS! That "beat you" bit is hilarious
I still remember when this came out, oh the memories!
I was in middle school when this came out, I remember sitting in band class, now I can legally drink...wow
That guy’s abs to this day still look uncanny
They look fake, like a mannequin
I'm pretty sure they are fake lol like wearing a skin colored ab-shirt
I was thinking that !! , so uncanny
His abs look normal to me. But maybe because mine are similar
"if you ever get cold, you'll just have to hack it. cause i'll be cold too if i gave you my jacket" is still one of my fave lyrics ever lmao
I laugh every time I think of it. Such a funny line
"Front is for the homies, you can sit in the trunk" 😂😂😂
You got me through such a rough time in my life. Made me laugh daily. Thanks!!
I love it how every single time ryan reacts to nice guys, he laughs at the last scene when dtrix enters😂
I can’t be the only one who remembered him reacting to nice guys 10 months ago
Finally! I'm not alone 😂 for a second there I thought I was living in a parallel universe were that didn't happen 😂
I didn’t know people didn’t get the meaning of the video the first time I thought it was obvious
Ryans heard his own song so much hes lost appreciation for it its a masterpiece

10 years later and still singing along to every word
Just found out you had a new channel, I bet loads of people are like me and simply thought you stopped making videos.

"But behind the scene she means the world to me, I wanna tell her that she's beautiful and show her that she's loved..." That last verse was the Twist that made me understood the song. I remember watching ya perform this song live too!
Not really a twist tbh. Guys who act like d bags are usually not actually like that, and are doing it just to keep the girl attracted.

Pretty sure people just quote the chorus because it's the chorus. Not because they're genuinely taking it to heart.
