I love these videos. I pay close attention to the way lips move and then I practice in the mirror. I have to make sure I am right in my pronunciation :) Thanks for the educational videos. They really help a bunch!!
You should do a video on HOW to eat in a Korean restaurant. As I've seen , they usually cook it themselves there , or have a lot of side dishes. Which I find pretty complicated , what if you mix all the sauces or I would personally don't know how and what to cook right there. So if you'd do a video on how to eat in Korean ( or asian in general? ) restaurant , would be super helpful! I know this comes off as pretty dumb , but I have never ate in a Korean / Asian restaurant before , so I really don't know. :) x
Finally I found one to order in korean I actually understand better. Whenever I go to Hmart I always try to ask or say something in korean every time I go but the next time I go I'm hoping to order some food there.
if you feel like the "in bun" too complicated to say you could also say hana juseyo for 1, Tu gae juseyo for 2, Se gae juseyo for 3...etc using the korean number system and adding the term "gae" to represent serving.
Ur channel is genius.. Ur slowly covering all the situations that any foreigner would go through when visiting korea.. Now can u plz do a Q&A sorta video, I and many others I believe would love to know more about u
I'm going to Korea soon and this is really helpful. I'm really anxious because my Korean is super basic and poor. But I will watch a lot of your videos. 💪🏻 감사합니다 언니 💓
sweetandtasty Love your vids and I'm trying to learn Korean..I have learned that it is easier reading with korean characters instead of english characters (though the english characters help some) ..your doing good keep teaching me plz :)
선생님 우연히 발견한 수업인데 너무 좋았습니다~~ 저는 서울에서 고깃집을 운영하고 있는데 관광객들이 많이 오는데 영어를 못해서 표현하는게 좀 답답합니다ㅠㅠ 외국 손님들 중 5명이서 2인분 시킬때가 있는데 “최소 1인당 1인분씩은 시키셔야합니다” 이거는 어찌 말하는게 좋을까요?
Hello, your videos are super helpful! But I also recommend to include how the person will respond to these phrases. So if I were to say these phrases I know how to listen for their responses. Thanks
I recently went to a local Korean BBQ place with my friends and the people spoke no English XD this would have been so helpful if I found it sooner! Hahaha! I'm learning for next time so I am prepared :)
Hi Professor OH, Your vids are awsome, and very informative. I really enjoy your presentations. What is the difference (if any) between the way you said, "Where is the restroom", and this way of saying "Where is the restroom": 화장실이 어디에 밌어요? There's a few more letters, and I'm wondering if there's much of a difference? Thanks so much
+robertshult Okay, well, first, you misspelled 있어요. That changes the meaning completely, but I'm sure it was just a typo. But the 에 is merely the location particle, and the 이, a subject particle. All they do is specify. However, if it can be assumed that 어디 means you're indicating a place in your question, and 화장실 can be assumed to be the subject, you can feel free to use them, but they aren't necessary.
Hi, I'm new in learning Korean. I have learnt that pure Korean number is used in counting and sino number is used in price, phone number, date etc. So I am wondering why we use sino number instead of pure Korean number in ordering servings of food? Thank you.
Can you please do a video on common responses to common questions? My bf wanted me to practice ordering a drink at a cafe and when I asked what I wanted, they asked me questions in return that I had no idea what they were. He ended up having to finish my order. I've tried looking for videos like this, but there's literally none lol
How would you apply the "Please give me.." phrase on behalf of a friend. For instance, after ordering for yourself how would you say "she would like/please give her..." Thanks in advance : )
Im traveling alone in two weeks in Seoul for the first time. Mostly likely I wont be eating all my food, how do I say, "can i take this to go?" Hopefully Ill run into you! would love a travel buddy. Thanks!
***** 그리고 is also 'and' used differently. Just like in the English language 'and' can be used as connecting nouns or connecting sentences. With 그리고 you are using it to connect sentences mainly like you could say 삼겹살 하나 주세요. '그리고' 김치 주세요.
Oops, sorry. Made a mistake in the Korean lettering - it probably sounds funny. What I ment to write was, "화장실이 어디에 있어요?" So, now is there much of a difference between what you said in the vid, and what I just wrote? Thanks. P.S. To all you students of the Korean language. Note what one letter can do to a phrase! Use Google translate if you need.
i thought when ordering food for just one serving you would have to use the native Korean numbers not Sino, like tteokbokki hana juseyo. is that wrong?
kpoptrash It's kind of different if you order some streetfood with tteokbokki as streetfood you don't have to say one serving just one tteokbokki is also good
Hi Prof. Oh! :) I just want to know why Koreans choose Philippines more than any other countries to learn English? (I just watched a news about it. But I want to hear your thoughts) :)
so do you not have to add any particles? like if i wanted to say "please give me more kimchi" i wouldn't have to add an object-marking particle or did she just not mention it because it would be too complicated? haha.
What about if you are going to buy a lot should we say samgyupsal ilinbun juseyo, kimchi saminbun juseyo, or should we say samgyupsal ilinbun, kimchi saminboon juseyo without repeating juseyo on every order? it would really help me if you can answer. thank you. :)
what do you call the person serving you. Ahjumma? Emo ni? Ahjussi? If i have a female waitress serving me, and she's older but i don't know how old and i don't know her well, when do i refer to her as? :3 Thank you in advance! (example: Hello miss can i get _____? in korean? how?)
I need an answer quick, please! My uncle is in South Korea right NOW and I am destined to help him to say a certain thing when ordering food. How do you say "can I get chicken and noodles, please" please answer quickly!
I've tried asking for things in korean. But when the waitress starts talking back to u in korean really fast and u dont understand...... ⚡️😨⚡️😨💀💀
😂😂😂😂
Same here ^^ but the more i learning do more words i can recognise :3
ㅑ 양 ㅜㅐㅅ ㄴㄷㄷ ㅅㅗㅁㅅ
next time use your phone to translate.. better don't ask many question to them.. not all korean people are fluent in english.. hahaha..

when you enter a restaurant in korea would you also have to politely bow to greet the waitress? and what would you say?
ixDogg Not everyone bows, but I like to give a slight bow (about ten degrees) and greet "Anyonghaseyo."
Annnnddddd I'm hungry
how about ordering kimchi jigae??? hana juseyo or il-inbun juseyo?
both of them are OK. 일인분 (il-inbun) is proper expression though.
Im traveling alone in two weeks in Seoul for the first time. Mostly likely I wont be eating all my food, how do I say, "can i take this to go?" Hopefully Ill run into you! would love a travel buddy. Thanks!

How do u ASK if a food is spicy? Like I know in Menus they put that it’s spicy but some don’t... and NO ONE EVER SAYS IT,
What korean language for waiter when we at restaurant?
Hi Mina! Usually korean stews comes with rice, so how do I say "I do not want rice"?
How would you order more than one thing? For example "I would like kimchi and samgyeopsal please"
Use RANG (pronounced rahng) "Kimchi rahng samgyeopsal juseyo"
***** rahng or lahng (랑) literally means "and"
***** 그리고 is also 'and' used differently. Just like in the English language 'and' can be used as connecting nouns or connecting sentences. With 그리고 you are using it to connect sentences mainly like you could say 삼겹살 하나 주세요. '그리고' 김치 주세요.
How do you ask someone if the food is spicy or not?
너 토끼 야? 나는 냉면을 좋아하지 않는다. 그러나 저는 김치, 비빔밥, 갈비를 좋아합니다.
I know some korean meat dish can mix rice after finishing the meat soon. How say please mix in rice to make fried rice in korean? Thank you!!

That was so easy and you’re giving this away for free!?
😅Juseyooooo!
I have a grammar question. What is the sound difference between -|| and |-| ?
...that's the best I can do without Korean letters on the keyboard.
The letters themselves don't have any pronunciation. You must add the "ㅇ" to them to make a sound. '에' Is like 'eh' while '애' is like 'ae' as in 'ate'
Listing this phrases all down because it may become handy one day except for jaega nelggaeyo because i wont need that.
Never thought this would happen in the Mina channels

so do you not have to add any particles? like if i wanted to say "please give me more kimchi" i wouldn't have to add an object-marking particle or did she just not mention it because it would be too complicated? haha.
You misspelled 물 at 0:30 (You wrote "뭍")
Elektergeld I overlooked that one. Thank you for letting me know! Added in annotation to prevent future confusion~

Plz give it to me.
If I want to order more than one item, how do I say this? For example 'Please give me 1 serving of 삼겹살 and 2 servings of 갈비'
I'm just gonna guess and say 삼겹살 일인분이랑 갈비 이인분 주세요. I'm probably wrong so don't really put too much trust in my answer 😂
your answer is perfect. 삼겹살 일인분이랑 갈비 이인분 주세요. ^^
