Thank you for the great work done to provide mankind the knowledge and immense joy of being 'with' the animal world in the comfort of our home.You're what that makes living much more bearable and meaningfull for all of us the common .May God bless you all !
They have an alpha female and her partner, not an alpha male. Sometimes even good naturalists have it wrong. And the pack is not as close a family as with the wolves. It's not parents and their offspring. It can be an alpha female, her partner, her sisters and her offspring. And when the tension emerges within the pack because another female rises to dominance, the pack either splits into two, or the losing alpha female and her partner leave the pack and well basically go die if the losing alpha is quite old.
They are conservationists and scientists, they know what they are doing. And monitoring the population and their status is a part of the work that protects these species.
*Texas Backyard Wildlife* was not mentioned in this, seems like a rather important piece of information about the people at the end 👋

Isn't the alpha male just the Dad of the entire group?
In African wild dogs, the dominant male is sometimes replaced, the matriarch is the center of the pack.
Pretty sure your thinking of the south American bush dog since that's how there hierarchy works
