I'd love to hear more from Tony Martin talking about his writing the songs in Sabbath. He only recently said that he was actually responsible for all the lyrics for his albums while he was in Sabbath (outside of Eternal Idol obviously) and that blew my mind! I want to know how stuff like 'Feels Good To Me' came about whether that was a label decision and what it was like with him and Geoff Nicholls and working with Cozy Powell and him touring with his 'headless cross band' in 2010 and performing with Helloween and Candlemass. Hope you have him on again.
To me Tony Martin Black Sabbath time, is the real Black Sabbath! Those albums were the most important! And vocals were crazy, really crazy! Amazingly beautiful performance by Tony Martin!
I have all the original albums of the Tony Martin era of Black Sabbath, but I really hope that they all get a proper deluxe edition sometime in the near future. I know that The Eternal Idol got a deluxe edition years ago, but everything that came out after has not. The Tony Martin era is extremely underrated in my opinion. Albums like TYR and especially The Headless Cross are MASTERPIECES in my eyes. I am so glad that Tony is getting some good exposure lately. He is extremely talented , and he never got the recognition that he deserves. Great interview Dimitri!!
I have often wondered that too, as much as I love Skye's playing, he does have a reputation for being difficult to work with, so I can only assume it didn't work out, personality clash maybe?
I get the Black Sabbath questions. Like Tony said, that's what people know him from. But some of these questions like "Are you going to sing Dio-era BS songs?" "Have you spoken to Ozzy?" What? Why ask him these things? I would loved to have known more about his stints with the Giuntini Project, Cage, and Empire; and maybe Tony playing some of those songs on future tours. But hey, the interview can't last forever. Time restraints, topics that the general audience wants to listen to. I get it.
"I was the guy at school in the early 90s saying, you gotta listen to the headless cross album". Sure you were 🙄🙄🙄. This thorns album is absolutely fantastic!!!! Better than any of his Sabbath material!!!
Tony never got any respect from the band, their entourage, or from the fans. He was always the fallback guy after all his predecessors had turned Iommi down for reunions: good old reliable Tony Martin. The situation with his albums is a travesty and a shame. It is insult to injury IMHO. He deserved better. Much, much better! #BlackSabbath Iommi sold the Black Sabbath name to the Osbournes a few years back, and Sharon only cares for the Ozzy era.
Awesome interview guys as usual. It’s crazy how much underated the tony martin era is .. amazing voice and amazing albums with Black Sabbath. Looking forward to thorns
Lost cause, IMO, shit production, which could maybe be sorted with the master tapes, but the songs just don't cut it and are IMO way below the standard of the other Martin albums
This man is a legend and one of the all time greatest vocalists in metal ever. And yet he seems so humble and down to earth. I've just listened to Thorns and it's mindblowing how good Tony sounds even at this age. I wish him all the best in life and I hope I'll get the chance to maybe see him live one day.
I am 49yo and I still consider the Tony Martin Black Sabbath era my favorite. It sucks how he's been treated. I just want a Deluxe Editions of his first 4 albums. I wish he was asked about his expi6 with Candlemass, I love those tracks with him on.
@@dantedoomsday My bad, you are right, I thought he also did the King of the Grey Islands Demos, but that was Mats Leven. Did ever tour with them besides him playing at their big anniversary concert?
Tony Martin is my Black Sabbath singer. The eternal idol is my favorite album

The Headless Cross a mighty album !!!!!!!!!!

That was a great band glad i got to see them a least six times he held his own in a tough spot to be in .

Giles actually SMILED today!!!
it doesnt happen often...
What a lovely bloke
love tony martin
Headless Cross is a great album. Always wondered why he chose not to do Blue Murder; Valley Of The Kings is epic.
John Sykes is difficult? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I have often wondered that too, as much as I love Skye's playing, he does have a reputation for being difficult to work with, so I can only assume it didn't work out, personality clash maybe?
When he was in Sabbath we barely got to hear that material live!
There is a video here of Tony talking to Dio back stage, no audio, he was chatting a bit longer than he suggests here...

Iommi didn't diss him so much in the book, but how he has treated him over the years and that era of the band.
Just got the new album, it's great! Way better than "Scream!"

Love the Tony Martin era! 🤘😍
Sabbath treated Tony poorly.
Apparently Tony Iommi has been remixing the Forbidden album for forever

To me Tony's era is as much Sabbath as those of Dio and Ozzy.
Totally agree!
Zakk Wylde released Book Of Shadows then Book Of Shadows II when Tony was talking about releasing it as Book Of Shadows.
I want the Martin era Sabbath remasters expanded editions. Forbidden is supposedly a work in progress
If you want to hear the Dio era, go see "Last in Line!"
Such an honest interview. Mr. Martin is great fun.
This new album is just amazing! It's one of the few albums that still rises the flag of true heavy metal 🤟
what a great interview!
wow an audio book with some parts that Tony can sing some unheard material would be insane!
I never realized how many projects Tony was involved in! Be great if those albums could get reissued!
awesome interview!!

What tracks did he do with Candlemass? I only know of his demo of Witches.

Just heard that the Tony Martin era Sabbath albums are finally getting reissued!
Hell, tell Tony someone to release his entire Sabbath archive under his own name.
Very cool interview Jimmy. I'd love to see y'all interview Blackie Lawless.
As The World Burns is such a bad ass song!
😃👍👍
My copy is coming. Love everything Tony Martin stuff.
Thanks so much for this, this was good fun and great to hear from Tony Martin and in good spirits and enthusiastic about all these fantastic songs.
