I did a similar project, for making leather armor look like many layers of lacquer, I used 5 minute fast cure epoxy. It worked great because the leather was not able to soak it up because it set so quickly. I'm glad to see you make it work. Those failures are heartbreaking, but your craftsmanship is masterful

Omg, thank you for showing failed attempts! Real struggle behind the project. I like that you didn’t sugar coat your attempts at “sugar coating” the leather and showed how many unsuccessful tries it took to get one successful result.
Mate, you just don't pick the right resin. Try UV resin, it cures in minutes, under the UV lamp and just have no time to soak the leather. My wife make jewelry with resin and try almost every type of them, so i'm pretty sure that UV resin is just that you need for this job. Also, i'm a big fan of you, always enjoying your videos and you have all my admiration! I'd like to make videos like yours, but have no such talent :) Wish you a lot of inspiration and enough time for every project you want to make!
I'm here, guys! I thought about UV resin, but someone told me that it cracks quickly. So, instead of protecting resin, my mental suffered haha. I should've tried it instead! Next time, I will. Korean original is my favorite of the audio track options. You have a very calm and soothing voice, and even though I only understand about half in Korean, I prefer it to all other options ❤

Oh this caused me so much vicarious pain!! I so felt for you! Thank you for sharing the process. It brings a much needed reality and shows the trial-error and work behind-the-scenes in a world too focused only on showing finished product - the consequence being a distortion of reality and lack of resilience in society.

아이고... 실패작 발생한걸 보니 제 가섬이 다 아프네요 ㅠ 건조랑 경화에만도 시간이 엄청 들어갔을텐데 ㅠ uv레진 써보셨으면 좋았을텐데 아무래도 가죽이라 크랙이 걱정이셨나봐요 ㅠ 만약 재도전 하시게 된다면 소프트 uv레진 사용해보시는 건 어떠실까요! 구미레진이라고도 하는데 가죽이나 천 같은 유연한 소재에 사용하는 레진이라 물성은 잘 맞을 것 같아요. 보통 작업물따라 하드타입/소프트타입 믹스해서 사용하는데 꼭 재도전하지 않으시더라두 다른 작업에 참고되실까해서 써봅니다!
I've always appreciated the cinematography, sound design, and story and how they compliment the design aesthetic of your actual work. This one in particular was a great contrast between epic classical music and your simple narration, which gave the vibe of an old school documentary short-film. Love it. I do leather working as a side hobby and watching your videos always gives me good insight into design and methods - thanks for sharing!

오늘도 잘 보고 갑니다. 저도 이어폰 가죽케이스를 자주 쓰는데, 가죽류 케이스들은 항상 아쉬운게 LED부분을 아예 뚫어놓더라고요. 그부분을 동그란 투명 플라스틱 조각으로 마감하면 더 좋을텐데 하는 생각이 듭니다. 언젠가는 직접 만들어봐야겠네요.

사실 뒤늦은 얘기지만… 레진은 유성제고… 발수코팅도 유성제라서…방수코팅으로 레진을 막는건 사실 엄청 큰 효과는 없는… 기름이 비닐을 통과하듯이.. 레진도 비닐도 방수코팅도 다 통과해요…ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
