i’m a super casual viewer but catch occasional content when i have the time but i just can’t believe you don’t have more subscribers? like the quality is quality of someone with multiple hundreds of thousands of subs, plus immaculate vibes! love your work!
Agree 100% with Dave the Diver. The piling on of game mechanics was a drag. I just wanted to upgrade my fishing stuff and make the fishing expeditions and restaurant work easier and cooler, but no. I gave up when the farm was introduced.
Thanks to you, I was inspired to start playing ToTK again after taking a year off. And I also have to say that almost all of the "new-to-me" games I've played this year have been a direct result of watching you play them on stream (Cult of the Lamb & Stardew Valley most notably among them). Thank you, EJ, for the joy you bring to my life!
webfishing is definitely up there, but (unless i’m forgetting something) my favorite game this year has got to be slay the princess it has lived in my head RENT FREE since i first started playing it - i’m obsessed. highly recommend (but also it does get gorey at times)
Editor’s note - the top tier was cut off on the screen but it was “Game of the Year” and it included only Roblox Dress to Impress. The footage is in the post credits.
Thanking you for bringing me to Chants of Senaar. That game easily sits in my top 5 of the year, it was such a good story and the puzzles alongside exploring such an intriguing place made for an amazing experience
I’d love to see you play baldur’s gate 3!! I think you’d enjoy it! It’s been my favorite game this year (I hopped on the bandwagon a little late) and I’ve easily put in 150+ hours
I actually have played a bit of it on twitch! (I don't stream there regularly but that feels like more of a twitch game than RUclips lol) Was actually talking on stream yesterday about playing a bit more of it soon!
you are the reason why i bought and played Caravan SandWitch even though i already had it in my radar when it was announced and just, it has to be my favorite game of the year so thank you for that
I haven't watched an EJ Plays video in a while, but glad to be tuning in again. I appreciate these ranking videos, I never know what is a good game to pick up or what is worth the money. The puzzle games sound really interesting, they might be purchases I make soon. 😊
yesss love top 5!!! so excited for more fields of mistria updates, hopefully by the time it's finished it'll be top 5 material! and can't wait to see what 2025 brings us! Happy new year!
Obra Dinn is also in my top 5 for this year! Like, I know I didn't finish it (I could probably grind through it in the next two days but do I want to? Probably not now) and I know you didn't mention this, but the music. Holy shit the music is so good. The whole game is a masterpiece. The only negative in that game for me is the fact that you can't have placeholder names. There's one guy that keeps showing up and I don't know his name! I wish I could label him as "guy A" or whatever so that way I could keep track of him more easily. Slay the Princess is also a top 5, I think. I know you didn't play it (or at least didn't list it), but it's so good. Music is great, voice acting great, story great, there's nothing that isn't great about it. Purely because of the amount of hours I put into it (and enjoyed! I just sort of fell off of it) I probably have to put Sun Haven up there. Yes, it's another farm sim, but I like how there isn't really a stamina system. There is a mana system that limits the amount of spells you can cast at once, and while the game feels a bit unpolished from time to time, there wasn't anything so unpolished that it kept me from enjoying the game thoroughly. It's a fun, fantastical little twist to the genre that I found refreshing, but nothing so new as to be jarring. Echoes of Wisdom! I loved it. I loved the story. Tri is probably one of my favorite little Zelda companions now. They were such a cute little shit. I cried at the end. Zelda please be my sister-in-law I love you I'm going to cheat on my final one. I can't think of a game that's occupied more brain space for me than this one has over the years, and I played 30 hours of it over the course of the last month, which is saying something since I can't play it on Steam Deck. I first played it in 2016 and I'm playing it now. It's Dragon Age: Inquisition. I just. I know it has problems. But I love it. She's my problematic fave. She's my everything. In my defense, I took a 7 year break from it, but she never left my mind. So it makes it up there for 2024 top 5 because this is the year I picked her back up, dusted her off, and got back on my bullshit. That's my top 5! I have so many honorable mentions. Too many. Chants of Sennaar was a 2023 top 5, though. Fields of Mistra was a definite honorable mention, but got docked big points for the dates not going farther. LET ME KISS YOU, HAYDEN. Additional honorable mention goes to Baldur's Gate 3. I have too many hours in it for me to have played as little of it as I have. The fact that I have 15 hours in it and haven't finished act 1 is truly a me problem. Love what I have played, though. Stopping it here. This is already a novella.
Thank you so much EJ, for being yourself I found your channel this year, I loved watching your streams whenever I felt down and needed a laugh, happy new year to you, I hope 2025 will be your year. 💚
Chants of Sennar was my surprise love this year! 🤎🤎🤎 That's kind of lie. It was an instant buy that took me forever to start playing. I think I am just surpised and happy it lived up to my expectations😂

Also Robots at Midnight would have won but was ineligible due to ethics in video game journalism
💀💀💀💀
i found you through your Coral Island videos! they also hold a soft spot in my heart. glad to be along for the journey!
Haha we only agree on TOTK . Such different opinions. Cool that every game tailors to different audiences.
Thanking you for bringing me to Chants of Senaar. That game easily sits in my top 5 of the year, it was such a good story and the puzzles alongside exploring such an intriguing place made for an amazing experience
my game of the year was mario wonder. had a ton of fun with it

I have a strong suspicion it will be!
I love Dave the Diver and I can’t wait for them to add more 😂😂😂
Cult of the Lamb is prob my fave on your list. Just so good!!!
AHAHA and I love that for you! At least we can agree on cult of the lamb 😌

The demo for Dave the diver sold me hard.. then I bought it and played it for one hour and didn’t like it anymore 😢 wtf happened
GG on the games you played/finished for 2024.
Webfishing with friends saved my sanity in early November ❤❤
I barely made it one hour in Palia 😂 I’ve never liked MMOs either
Wow what a wrong opinion 🫶
LMAOOO on which one! Or just all of them 😂
