Thank you! I use linen fabric for the front side of the hair clip, and felt for the back.
Do you think the felt makes a big difference? Is it possible to use a cotton fabric for the back?

Cotton fabric might be too soft. But sure you can try - it is all a creative work, and depends on your preferences!
