@@Ankush0304 If you’re preparing for NEET-UG, know this that the college you do your MBBS from doesn’t really matter that much. After MBBS, the process of preparing for NEET-PG is much harder than when you were preparing for NEET-UG.
Employability after MBBS will keep on getting worse. Lakhs of MBBS docs are unemployed right now, although mostly willingly. Govt doesn’t hire MBBS docs that frequently. When they do, most posts are available in remote locations, and if you’re unreserved/general category, you have very less chance of getting those jobs. Private hospitals prefer AYUSH practitioners to handle their wards & ICUs instead of MBBS docs, because they’re cheaper. AYUSH practitioners take such jobs for salaries of ₹20-30k. MBBS doc won’t get more than ₹40-45k in pvt hospitals.
Assaults against doctors is a major issue in govt facilities. You’ll get how bad the problem is in your internship years.
Two exceptions ; In Delhi, salary for MBBS docs is very good in both govt & private setups. Getting hired if difficult because of competition. Freshers are preferred. Secondly, if you’re business-minded enough to run your own clinic or open a hospital in collaboration with other doctors, then you can earn a lot.
Your main concern after MBBS will be to crack NEET-PG and get a PG seat in clinical branch. Those 3 years are the cruelest & most brutal part of any medico’s life. You’ll be in your late 20s or early 30s with no social life, erratic duty hours, sleep deprived, overburdened, stressed out, and dealing with toxic seniors and consultants who’ll humiliate you in worst possible ways even in front of patients. Of course that depends on which branch you took, whether it’s MD/MS or DNB. There are exceptions. But the journey is excruciatingly painful in most sought after clinical branches.
You’ll only start earning properly after PG, i.e., when you’re in your 30s. Even then, not all doctors earn great. You’ll sure be satisfied with your job, but compared to non-medicos (engineers & commerce people) who start earning in their early 20s, a full 5-7 years ahead of you, you might not feel all that great.

5.5 years of MBBS+ Prep for PG+ 3 years of MD/MS+ prep for super specialisation + 3 Years of DM/Mch. Even if you crack all exams in one attempt it still takes 11.5 years. Now add the fact that the govt adds compulsory bond for each state. That means bond after mbbs and pg which comes to around 2 years unless you pay it off. Basically if you are choosing this profession you’ll have to be ready to sacrifice your adulthood, hobbies and sleep all just to be beaten up by patient relatives and hear people say we work for money. Hence I don’t see why people are pissed about Indian doctors wanting to go abroad.
