I think this year I am going to have to keep records during inspections of the number of frames of bees and brood in each hive. A quick excel will tell me which are growing faster and allow me to plan out my resource management for the next visit.
Hey was just wondering if you can swap one or 2 frames of just brood/honey ''no bees'' from strong 10 frames hive to boost a 4 frame little hive that I started in the summer both healthy,no disease or varroa. I will be swaping on the 26 of septembre.. or is it to late? sugar water starts sunday
We find the bees fight if we do that, even if it's frames of nurse bees. We find this method safer and its the brood that gives you the numbers. 1 frame of capped brood = 3 frames of bees once emerged
You're really doing a great work over there. Watching your video from Nigeria is a great one. Thank you very much for the great insight.
Only just learnt to do this this year in my 3rd year beekeeping. Will definitely do it in subsequent years. Good tips thanks
Its a very useful tool but always check for any diseases before moving brood across.
Thanks for the info. Very useful.
Glad it was helpful
Great video and very well explained. Especially about not putting bees from the original colony. Keep up the good work 👍
Cheers Chris. Glad you found it helpful

Hey hey me again. What is the cut off date for frame swapping btw?
Why not add bees with frame of brood, like bob binnie
