- I'm in New Orleans covering Jazz Fest for American Blues News - we took a walk to Frenchmen Street last night (April 25, 2013) to see what the fuss was about over there. We found a vibrant scene with street music, lots of music clubs and a young, happy crowd. Great vibe, we had a fine time. This is a young brass band performing on a street corner, maybe you can get an idea of the experience from this video. Shot on location by Reed R. Radcliffe / TripleRPhotography. As someone with the majority of their family living in New Orleans and who has spent 85% of their life there (I wasn’t born there; I was born in Florida, and my parents were born in Pennsylvania and Ohio, but the entire rest of my family lives there, and I’ve been there so many times I might as well have lived there), this is your Authentic nighttime New Orleans jazz experience right here. New Orleans is a wonderful place. If you are a music lover it is heaven. You should visit when this pandemic is done. I shot this on Frenchmen street about 8 years ago. A version of this particular band is playing there just about every night. Well, I don't know about right now. I was supposed to go in April and had reservations for this October. Maybe next year. Really, go. You will thank yourself.

This video is my most viewed of hundreds I have posted. I come back and watch it at least once a week to remember my weekend in NOLA during JazzFest. I saw these guys a few times that weekend - always enjoyable!

Been to NOLA 3 times from Vancouver ... stopped by Frenchmen Street every time. This stuff never gets old!

I saw the police chase them off Frenchmen St under some sort of noise ordinance. This happened last May. I really hope that they are now freely allowed to ply their trade, as they should be considered the pride of their town and nation.

Some of the band members are under age and the police will show up and enforce curfew laws. It was not a noise ordinance.. smfh
Jaymz Carter, Um, so? It wasn’t curfew, clearly, or the POLICE wouldn’t be involved. I’ve never heard of such curfew laws, and it seems not that later there, because people are still out and about.

This band is nuts. You can still catch them in the quarter playing in Jackson Square during the days.
We were there a couple years ago and they were out there again. Looking a lot older, the ones still there, but just as fun.
@@TripleRPhotographyLLC I was just there and the white dude has a trombone but the short dude with the long red jacket still plays his trumpet with them. IDk who else is still there, I only recognized the 2.

i think this kid is good, but obviously he bought his way into this setting. sorry folks. not part of the original flavor...yeah he is good, but there are soo many kids playing in free bands who are soo and equally gifted and more talented.. i think he should haunt other neighborhoods.
