Love this! Mark and Dan are hands down the best coverage for Jazz obsessives, like me. Thoughtful and nuanced takes, as always. Great work, gentlemen!

You talked about Lauri having a ball lot and that he should stumble to more assists. Have you actually looked up how fast he gets rid of the ball most time? It's a lot shorter than many of the other guys scoring same amount (who have or don't have assists). Also his efficiency does drop a lot when he holds the ball more. I would think Lauri has quite a lot of hockey assists (where he also some times yells to young guys to who to pass it for) or even him starting three pass link to the shooter/slasher.
He also mentioned in an interview in his MIP year that he often sees a pass but that he doesn't (yet) have a handle to make it happen. So that's also part of the equation: if his handle improves, his assists might go up.
So I don't disagree that he could be better passer, just that he often doesn't have the ball long enough to actually make a play happen for someone if it's not there already.

This is a great point w/r/t not just what Lauri does but also how the offense works in general. It's rare that Lauri is given the ball and just told to isolate his defender and make something happen. He's typically getting the ball on the move or a handoff or something where his angle is really to make something happen with the advantage given by the offensive set, and if the advantage isn't there, reset the ball by quickly giving it to the next guy. He's rarely asked to just make shit happen from nothing.

Lauri is getting the ball a lot? What? Disagree. He should get the ball much more especially when his hot and during the last minutes.
