Sabres fan here, why did Leenders fall all the way to the 7th last player taken in the draft? What wrong with him? you had him so high here
I’m just gonna say it Grav, Nabokov will be the best goalie in the draft, he will be taken in round 2 or 3. I watched some highlights and some film of him and he’s pretty damn good, he could be a legit starter in the NHL and the fact that at 21 years old put up those numbers in not the MHL, but the KHL is quite impressive

I responded this in another comment, but it's about Nabokov.
Here are Ilya Nabokov's odds:
0% chance that he gets drafted in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round.
50% chance that he gets drafted in the 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th round.
50% chance that he doesn't get drafted at all.
I don't see him getting picked in the first 3 rounds.
There's literally no point in doing that when you can have him for free.
It's his last year of eligibility.
If a team blows a 3rd-rd on him, they got to be desperate as hell.
Teams past on him 3 times (2021, 2022, 2023).
If he gets drafted it's late, but I wouldn't be shocked if he was signed by a team right after going undrafted.
I mean, was he even present the last 3x for the draft? I don't know.
It's not like the team who wants to draft him won't ask him if he's interested.
That's why I don't think there is a chance that someone blows a 3rd round to pick him.
The Russian factor. Whoever will get him will make a deal with him before they even pick him.
At that point they might as well make a deal and just tell him they won't draft him but they'll sign him right after when he's ready.
If he is physically in Vegas for the draft, then I could see this going in the opposite direction.
That would show to all teams at once that they can have him.
Then and only then would he even be considered round 1 or 2 for teams who desperately need a goalie.
HOWEVER..
They'd pick him in the 1st or 2nd round and he'd be back-up goalie or starter right away next season or..
..starter in the AHL to the very least.

I think Nabakov will be the best goalie to come out of this draft. Goalies usually take more time to develop. So I have 0 issue drafting an older goalie. I'm not sold on George or Kempf Leenders will be a stud especially if he grows just a little bit more. I also think Vinni, Saarinen and Matecha
Nabokov and Carter George will dominate this class but be chosen much later than they should because they are 6’ maybe 6’1” and NHL teams won’t touch a goalie under 6’2” anymore. Since when does and inch make this much difference and please no that’s what she said jokes.

Could just be me but this has to be the draft where ive experienced no one really talking about the goaltenders. This has to be one of the few videos out there really going in depth about the goaltending, I’m curious to see which goalie gem comes out from this draft

If my hawks take Saarinen I. The 2nd or 3rd round I would be very happy I have him as my #1 goalie in the draft for his age, size, and his consistency throughout every league he’s played in. If any goalies going to turn out to be elite in this years draft my moneys him.

Could somebody explain to me why petteri rimpinen isn't getting mentioned when it comes to the best goaliea in the draft. He was playing in the same league as vinni, but had a save prosentage of 0.30 better than vinni's save procentage. I do get it that hes undersized, but i think that the potential is still there.
