Some points that helped me: -Find a bench position that helpes you to keep your wrist as straight as possible, horizontal and vertical. But play with a loose wrist. -Fix the bench high enough so you can make a nice bridge to play the octaves and -far enough from the keyboard. (lessens the sideway bending of the wrist -E octaves: Don't play your pinky on the edge of the key but more firther up the key. -B while playing this key, your hand moves inwards so... -E+G: you can play the G key between the black keys with finger 4 -B while playing B your index slide outward the key till behind the black keys so the black key doesnt hinder you when you reach for the D octaves. Play slooowly and experiment to find your most relaxing way. You can also play the left hand with onle the lowest note of the octaves= not tension just my 50ct :)
If you take the English word 'canteen' and replace the 'a' with an 'o' you'll be 70% closer to pronouncing 'comptine' like the French do. For the remaining 30% I recommend a holiday in France! Great tutorial by the way, some really useful tips there that I needed and the bonus pedal advice was much appreciated too! Merci !
The bottom E and D notes are quarter notes, rather than 1/8 notes. They're supposed to be held down longer. This fact is what makes the LH work challenging for me because it adds to the tension. I've been experimenting with different re-positionings of the wrist and such and it's gotten a bit better.
To master it could take some time but it really depends on the level you want to play it at and how much time your willing to practice. If you want to play it to a reasonable degree it could take a few months if you where to work really hard at it 😀
@@SamBoothPiano I hesitate to take lessons to learn how to place the fingers. otherwise with the tutorials on youtube I can already learn a lot. I especially want to play with my 2 hands
Thank you so much! I was able to play this piece at age 15! Now I’m 33 and learning to play the piano again and the left hand was killing me haha.
