Nikko is one of the most culturally significant places in Japan.
There are a total of 103 national treasures and important cultural properties in the city of Nikko. Together with the surrounding cultural landscape, it is registered as a World Heritage Site.
It is also a very important place in the history of fly fishing in Japan.
This is because it was here in Nikko that Japanese fly fishing began about 120 years ago.
