She has to prove they are together as a 'commonlaw couple', if they are not legally married in Kuwait, which they cannot be due to her lack of status (and likely Salah's also) she cannot sponsor him unless they have been living together for more than 6 months.
But then that trip to Canada, where she was going to finally sponsor him for citizenship, never materialized as she realized she needed to be debt free, owe no taxes, and have her bankruptcy discharged for 1-3 years before she can begin that process.
And that'd be around about the time Salah found out and started getting sassy in Thailand, imo.
