      Batangas Barako
Batangas is a province in South Luzon and Barako is a variety of coffee can be a Liberica or Excelsia.
There are also other available Barako not just in Batangas. Buengget also produces the same Barako with its distinct flavor, also delicious as well.

It's actually kind of interesting learning how Spanish influenced Filipino culture, as in East Asia (as well as northern Vietnam I guess) we don't have a word linking stud with masculinity as Spanish _varraco,_ Tagalog _barako_ or English _stud._ In Mandarin, for instance, the word for stud (種獸) could be never used on a human (or it would indicate something like _bastard_ or _tool_ thus very offensive). We do have several words for "manly" and "valiant" but those words have no link with stud. Thus I guess it's better not to advertise the meaning of the word when selling this coffee in East Asia.

Kapeng Barako from Batangas or Kapeng Amadeo from Cavite (both from neighboring provinces of the Philippines) are best with Muscovado sugar (raw sugar). Both coffees are very strong and fragrant. Coffee lovers and enthusiasts must not miss out on tasting both. It's a standing joke in the Philippines that a cup of pure, freshly brewed Kapeng Barako can keep you awake 3 days straight 😁 Batangueños (Batangas province borne) love their morning kapeng barako freshly ground and boiled. . .just the smell of boiling coffee is enough to wake you up good.

“Barako” is a reference to the bull, specifically the carabao bull, which is extensively used in farming in the rice fields of Batangas and elsewhere in the Philippines. The barako is a strong and sturdy animal. So “barako” coffee or in the vernacular, “ kapeng barako” is a reference to the strong arabica flavor of the coffee beans grown in the volcanic soils of Batangas.
Your process of preparing the coffee is almost the same way we do it in Batangas. Boil a pot of water, after the water boil remove the heat, dunk the ground coffee in and stir slowly so it doesn’t boil over. Then enjoy your coffee with brown sugar.

when buying this from non filipino market make sure you get the "cofea exelsia"(not sure if spelled correctly) since its the specie that is actually used for Kapeng Barako but some use Robusta or Arabica and roast it dark then labeled it as "Barako" which is false
ps . i tried this one its strong enough to give me shivers

Fun fact: At one point in time Philippines was the only supplier of coffee in the world during the late 1800s. Coffee rust ruined it and it never really recovered. Barako used to cost 5 times as much as regular coffee. Duterte made a plan to revive the coffee industry so PI can be coffee independent.

Before, I cannot appreciate coffee from SB reserve. They're too acidic for me. But damn, after tasting a cup of Barako. I can say, may ibubuga ang Kapeng Barako.
To appreciate the coffee, I usually do this 3 steps
    1. Try your first sips with plain (just hot water)
    2. Add 1 tablespoon of muscovado sugar, sip
    3. Add milk (personally, I Add 1-2 tablespoon of bear brand) - - > my personal fave. Hehe. Enjoy!
