This video and the next will have more of a modern slant (alt arts, Van Gogh / Pikachu grey felt hat, SIRs, etc) as I'm preparing inventory for vending my own table in October and November.
But I still pick up some rare vintage and even a booster box, and I spend through all my cash down to little bills left over.

I’m of the same mindset of not taking Pokemon sealed boxes as investment opportunities . I’ve amassed a $100,000 collection over the years just buying cards that I like not cards I think will make me the most money .. I’m in my mid 30s and I have no aspirations of getting rich off Pokemon cards … like oyama I buy what I like cause it takes me back to when I was a 10-13 years old in the late 90s and 2000s and because I like looking at them from time to time …. Oyama the goat 🐐…
That's an awesome collection man! Yes, love the buy what you like attitude. Many of my favorite cards and slabs I own are worth less than $40 or so.
@@oyamastrading i have the umbreon from neo discovery 1st edition in a psa 10 as well as the Skyrim and aquapolis also in psa 10s and yet my favorite umbreon card is the evolving skies only worth a measly $1200 .

Thanks Lake! yeah if i see an MP/LP gold star I buy it. They've been really good to me both as collectibles i enjoy looking at, and as items to resell at a profit if I ever want to change the collection up

Great vid again Ricky. Good statement on the Pokeinvesting topic. For me, invest retirement in the stock market, not collectibles. If you have disposable income, then yeah, have fun with putting money into sealed, but it seems more like “long-term flipping” rather than investing. Collectibles aren’t as liquid as cash/stocks. People forget that you still have to liquidate the product even after it appreciates!

Hahaha no need to donate to the cause, especially once I sell through a lot of my stuff when vending next month, I'll hopefully be flush with cash again to get back to buying!

What percent do you usually try to buy in order to make a profit on eBay?
My break even for ebay is around 85%. To make a profit reliably on ebay specifically, I need to be around 75% give or take. I'll do this with large lots, people I've dealt with a lot, lots with less desirable stuff in it, etc. I've also had success buying rare desirable vintage at shows for 80-90%, and listing a little above comps. Some stuff will take months to sell but if you're the only game in town, eventually a buyer comes along who is more than happy to pay $50 more than last solds just to own the card they want.

The average compound annual growth rate for a sealed Pokemon booster box is 30-35% a year. Calling an asset class that has outperformed the sp500 3x stupid is a spicy take.
