At Andy's notoriety, level, sense of musicality, needless to mention his technicality, and composition, he is still talking like he ain't shit in front of a younger player probably half of his age. The level of humbleness coming from these god level people are truly inspiring. This is such a drastic contrast when compared to the arrogance of pop artists who have bare minimum musical skills and are constructed by labels.
There is nothing better than plugging my headphones in, pouring myself a glass of Merlot, and enjoy listening to these two guys playing a bit, yakking about music a bit, and playing some more. This video made my Saturday night complete. Cheers to Andy & Martin ♫♫ ❀(~‿~)❀ ♫♫
Andy Timmons always has the tone, air, soul and ear. Martin ist technically a beast, I can still hear him searching and trying out crazy stuff, young but with such enormous potential. This was just wonderful.
Wow Andy really is the king of taste. I haven't heard him play jazz like that ever, and you sound great as ever Martin. It's so cool to hear Andy is a fan of you and Tom, you're all on my list of favorite players!
I love both these guys ! It's all about the journey. And not once do you hear either play to their technical peak. So much room for dynamics and much greater feel this way.
Two awesome players. Never ceases to amaze me the handful of thumbs downs. Who are these people? If you despise great guitar playing why watch in the first place?
OMG Andy what an understatement...youre playing guitar since 25 years on the highest possible level !!!At the time of DD Martin Miller was in kindergarten
I love Andy Timmons. Timmons is the elder here....but, Martin represents a entire new level and generation of incredibly gifted players. That said....in his day, AT was the greatest and most talented player...additionally and sadly, the most underrated guitarist of an entire generation. IMO he was better than Vai and Satriani although AT was solidly in their shadow. I will always be indebted to AT, the consumate shredder.
+BigEdWo Andy is one of the greatest guitar players alive, you gotta seek him out playing live when you get the chance. His live performance is something else.
Fucking right! Great stuff, please do it again but live in the US.. E coast preferably At 50 years old I finally got my first Mesa.. Thanks Andy.. The best sound ever! You rule bro! Martin, I can't even imagine what you'll be playing like when you get to be our age..I hope I'm alive then.. Thanks for the taste of heaven guys peace
Don't get me wrong, I love Martin Miller and Tom Quayle as guitar players, they are amazing and guitar monsters, they know the instrument and they know music, they inspire me, but if I close my eyes Andy Timmons is always Andy Timmons like a lighthouse in the dark, I feel his playing, you only need your ears, this doesn't happen with Tom and Martin.
The reason is called: Free to share opinions. And I do enjoy all music and all talents and there was no negativity at all in what I said. Perhaps you just did what I said not to do at the begginig: DONT'T GET ME WRONG! ;) Chears
I know exactly what you are saying. If you spend time listening to Andy, eventually you know it's him playing the moment you hear him. There is a very distinct personality that comes out of the nuances of his playing and his phrasing. I'm sure, to a degree that can be said about many musicians. Some just apply it more in their approach to playing than others. One can be an incredible player with a plethora of musical understanding, but it's that personality that is displayed through the playing that really speaks to me personally.
I encourage you two to put together a CD similar to what Mike Stern and Eric Johnson did. This is very enjoyable. You're both such very good players. And there is definitely a synergism here. Add a good jazz drummer and bass ... great!!
like my man crush on Andy needs more velocity. It hurts that he didnt like doing Resolution, but I guess I understand. Still one of the better records I've heard, knowing how it was made. Martin is fantastic too ;)
I didn't even know Timmons could play this way! Not sure if this is more of the Olivia Newton-John influence or the Ted Nugent.... he's keeping HIMSELF interested, which is more to the point. Interesting conversation too - I know Steve Morse was writ large in Timmons' list, and I have the disconcerting impression that Morse could probably play a solo he'd written 30 years ago not-for-note if he wanted. _The Introduction, Southern Steel and Coast to Coast_ may still be the finest condensed burst of rock 'n' roll guitar playing ever. Martin Miller I never even heard of till now. Too many great musicians, too much great music... I DO NOT understand the people who say all the great music has been played already.
I really want to hear these guys jam a classic jazz song and use their incredible skills while keeping a melody with the types of embellishments only they can pull off with their technical skills. Free form jamming just doesn't do it for me.
I wish I could appreciate this more. Both are truly monster players- but that kind of jazz just bores me to no end. No real melodic development- no movement- just a bunch of random notes from the scales. Yeah, they're following the chords well (especially Martin- who I've never heard until this- looked him up and he's terrific) - but development of themes or motifs- just noodling and riffing off. Plus I must confess that clean jazz tone does nothing for me. BOTH sound so, so much better when they have some overdrive dialed in. No bashing to them, again both are ridiculously good players and Andy's among the top 5 players in the world IMHO- but this did nothing for me. I just don't get improvised jazz that doesn't develop a theme... they don't play any wrong notes, but to me they don't play any real "right" notes either.
Youre good miller, but ur far far away from andy timmons so you should talk less. To much to talk from miller. AT gets your point and you continue to talk talk and talk. No respect

Very interesting conversation!

This is a dream duo... Mark my words.
Andy Timmons always has the tone, air, soul and ear. Martin ist technically a beast, I can still hear him searching and trying out crazy stuff, young but with such enormous potential. This was just wonderful.

Martin, you are humble but man, you deserve this spot with Andy, you're both guns on your instruments.
Wow Andy really is the king of taste. I haven't heard him play jazz like that ever, and you sound great as ever Martin. It's so cool to hear Andy is a fan of you and Tom, you're all on my list of favorite players!

I can't believe!!!! So amazing!!!!!

WOW!!!!!! Martin is Awesome!! and i didn't even know Andy was that Versatile One of the Greatest
Both are amazing!
Great guitar players and a great talk at eye level! Catched oneself in asking me several questions and answers from here too.
So inspiring! Both of these guys are off the charts, and I'm blown away at the premise of a jam sounding this good.
That's a beautiful guitar that Martin has!
Way to go Marty. Playing with one of my Idols. Amazing phrases, really beautiful lines and those tones are literally to die for. Good work mate :-)

+Carlos Arcay In fact this is the best video of Andy and Martin!
Hearing Andy swear was so peculiar, I've never heard him swear before!
yea i think after seeing that guy play with his feet he just doesn't care anymore
OMG Andy what an understatement...youre playing guitar since 25 years on the highest possible level !!!At the time of DD Martin Miller was in kindergarten
that tone tho!!!!!! so good.
Add Tom Quayle, Feodor Dosumov, Muris Varajic and Alex Hutchings and I'd be even more excited! All amazing guitarists.
I love Andy Timmons. Timmons is the elder here....but, Martin represents a entire new level and generation of incredibly gifted players. Broadfieldpoint I don't compare but your point reminds like Paganini was good in his time. Peace.
I love this guys, they make me want to quit playing and keep doing it at the same time
perfect players. amazing. i didn't know andy timmons is that good, but he is. nice feel.
+BigEdWo Andy is one of the greatest guitar players alive, you gotta seek him out playing live when you get the chance. His live performance is something else.

BigEdWo Martin Miller schooled you, lol. Gotta know and respect the older cats, man, specially if they are talented as Timmons.

+iLoveGuitar Is there a point in sharing this opinion? Can't you just enjoy greatness without the negativity?

Whatever. Just appreciate two great players trading licks. Music is not a competition.
EthnHayabusa I agree!! Greatings from Italy :)

Actually did a real life lol at that Stairway moment.
yes-andy + jazz!

Damn.
I hope Andy keeps his own phrasing, sounds beautifully unique even in jazzz
Album, please.

Does Martin use 4 cable methode with Axe and Laney?
I encourage you two to put together a CD similar to what Mike Stern and Eric Johnson did. This is very enjoyable. You're both such very good players. And there is definitely a synergism here. Add a good jazz drummer and bass ... great!!
I can't believe how old this is and I haven't seen it... wow!!
HAHAHA!!!! i think it was Andy, with the snorkie laugh around 1:46 1:47. Anyways, love these guys... amazing players!
what is this, a human delay after Gilbert's human capo?
Musical Dialogue right there.
like my man crush on Andy needs more velocity. It hurts that he didnt like doing Resolution, but I guess I understand. Still one of the better records I've heard, knowing how it was made. Martin is fantastic too ;)
Whenever Andy is at my house, We never have time to sit and jam. Custom wire this, setup that. Oh well we'll make time.
Martin Miller comes from Germany ? I never see his footage speaks in German
Fun fact: Miller isn't his real last name.
Ja
Nobody ever talks to me in German, so...
dann fang ich mal an; Jo Martin, alles klar?

G3 guitarist vs some youtube guitarist ... Jeez gimme a fuckin break ! Andy \m/
consummate professionals.
depressingly good.
I really want to hear these guys jam a classic jazz song and use their incredible skills while keeping a melody with the types of embellishments only they can pull off with their technical skills. Free form jamming just doesn't do it for me.
martin miller has a rich melody than Andy timmons in jazz/fusion...lol

oh my!! they are playing how insensitive by jobim!!
They are amazing players!!! But I wish they were playing actually fender strats!!!
This is kinda unreal.
