Wow, just wow! You pulled off complex tasks in this video that I have no idea how to do! 🤯 A huge congrats! Besides the machine vision, the robot arm and box grabbing mechanism were definitely my favorite! 👍
Carmakers haven't made fully autonomous vehicles yet, but you did it in 6 months. Super impressive, and the bit of insecurity you shared at 8:15 was touching in a world where engineers are often painfully reserved. Looking forward to the next video, no matter how long it takes to be uploaded.
Thank you Marcel! I wanted to leave some emotion in, as a wise man (Ryan Trahan) once recommended. There were many more emotions at play, but I still wanted it to be uplifting and inspiring! P.S. I'm not planning on taking another 5 or 6 months. P.P.S. I said that last time too!
i can’t tell if the build or the video is better made! i clicked on this video and before i knew it the video was already over, with me dumbfounded at how cool you are lmao. i am practically begging the algorithm to blow this up 🙏
This is actually mind blowing! Massive props to overcoming all the challenges you faced with this. (But is it bad that my favorite part of the vid was your track setup montage? 🙃)
No not at all!!! My favorite part, weirdly, is that part too!! It has energy and it really makes you want more! That's a lot of exclamation marks in a comment!!! (Thank you lol)
Oh you might not have noticed, but all capchas online are definitely already mine and are being directly used to train the car. Not at all a joke. And that is not at all sarcastic. (Thank you lol!)
DUDEEEE WHAT THIS IS SO COOL I've said it before and I'll say it again, you deserve so much more attention with your video ideas, execution, and editing skills. I comfortably and passionately watched all the way to the end; I haven't seen many videos in the Lego machine community that have gripped my attention as much as this. Time to vigorously share this with everyone i know lol
Ok - I don't even know where to start. You built an amazing MOC, you made it completely autonomous, and you even made a multi-threaded app. Such an amazing job! Oh and excellent work also on the video production. It looked very professional and engaging. Great job all around!!
Thank you for everything Dave! You once helped me with a coding problem and without the solution to that, I would have never been able to make this machine, since it uses the same principle, so thank you for that!
@@CreativeMindstorms I'm very glad I was able to help. 🙂It was great to see a video from you again, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with next!
Nice project but sure its been done before. My son did something very similar for his bachelors degree in applied physics. His exam project for master degree is in on its way right now. A little more advanced I would say.
It's really sad that it's not possible to use the phone as the computing unit. The need of a laptop to run the program makes it feel a bit bad. Buuut Congretulations! I am happy that there are still peopla making massive Lego Mindstorms projects like this.🙂
BRO! I once tried this when i got my Lego Boost set, but i dont have enough peaces. But yours is much more better! Why are Genuis Creators so underated? Keep up the Amazing Work, mate!
It's a shame you didn't get to finish your Lego Boost self-driving car! I hope you will once get all the lego bricks you need and make your own amazing creations with them! Thank you DRN, for your kind comment! I wasn't planning on stopping any time soon, so I will keep going!
Dankjewel!

Hey! After watching some of your videos, I'm quite certain that you must've been in the engineering field, am I right? These videos show true engineering skills, truly amazing!
Hey Andrew again! I am 16 years old and still in high school. I am planning on studying mechanical engineering, so you got that right! I consider this a huge compliment!
Thank you! I am thinking a lot about how I can convey the information in the best way, while keeping it fun and not have it take up all my time. Maybe this would work!
I have that problem quite often actually! I usually take it out for like 10 seconds, blow on it and then plug it back in. That works in 80% of the cases for me. The other 20% I take it out, reboot the mindstorms and then plug it back in.
Thank you for your interest! I run Python on my laptop and connect that to the Mindstorms and phone. I use a library called ev3_dc to connect to the Mindstorms and control it. I use DroidCam to connect the phone to the laptop as a webcam and I can use it with the program using the library called OpenCV. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, let me know or send me an email! Good luck!
Do you know if the latest Mindstorms can read phone camera signal? What libraries did you use to get the phone camera? It's amazing what all you can do with the Mindstorms I'm definitely going to try something similar! Very awesome project and gave me some inspiration
The Mindstorms itself can't read phone camera signal, but a computer can. Just connect both devices to a computer and run a program on the pc. I used DroidCam to connect the phone, OpenCV to do image processing and ev3_dc to connect the mindstorms to the computer (I hope there is an alternative for the Mindstorms Robot Inventor). If you are ever stuck on a problem, feel free to ask me for help. You can always send me an email. I'm happy to have given you inspiration! Thank you for your comment!
