The Justin story was the one that I had to rewind I could not believe it! From listening to him talking about how he felt about what others had done and whether he would do it... it’s just awful...

Those poor parents losing a child in this way and those poor children that felt that ending their life was better than living when they were so young and had their whole lives ahead of them. No matter how dark the hole please believe that things do get better and talk to someone, there is always someone who loves you. Sending love to all those who have lost someone close to them

I feel so awful for the families and friends for the losses of these young people. I've been effective 4 times in my life. For the high school friend I lost Christmas Eve 2012 at our local mall. Last Christmas I had the hardest time. I cried for days with no support from my family (they thought I should forget and move on. Last year marked 10 years. I wish I knew, I wish I could have sent her to the therapist who helped me through severe PTSD after a car accident with a Coo who ran a red light because he felt we was above the law and I wish she didn't cut us all off after graduation. Ultimately the people left behind need to come to grips that we aren't responsible for a loved one's final actions. And we are lady asking WHY??? Bridge End is always in my prayer 🙏. I find it so odd that there are no suicide notes...at all. Why hasn't there been an emergency influx of mental health workers? Could there be any environmental reason or drug abuse epidemic?
I have watched several interviews, documentaries, etc. about Bridgend and the suicides. I grew up in a town where - on a smaller scale of course - there was the same teenage epidemic of suicides in a short time (I think there were 17). I do know that there is such a thing as the power of suggestion to spur already unstable teens on to copy each other. That is a fact - I've seen it. However, the mass scale here, the fact that there are so many (!) and that even more than one in a family, is eerie. Add to that the fact that so many of them are on record - some on video - as having spoken forcefully against suicide, right before they did it. There is something extremely troubling and inexplicable about this particular situation. I also notice that the prevalence of people marring their appearances with multiple piercings and tattoos, including many of the parents, is bizarre. Don't get me wrong - I have no issue with tattoos. But someone who covers their body with them, at a young age, is someone who has some emotional issues. Add to that multiple piercings. And obvious substance abuse issues... one of these kids sits there being interviewed in this doc with a "cannabis" ad poster in his room. Why is no one addressing the effects of drugs on these young people's brain development? (Again, don't misunderstand - I am pro-legalization of pot, for ADULTS!) It just seems that some pretty obvious problems - societal problems - are being ignored and/or discounted here.
Just to add, there was a rather tasteless project of the same name as this one - a feature film - a crass dramatization of this tragedy. What bothers me though, is that the county's people protested that in the film it was depicted that the youth were often heavily involved in substance abuse, etc. They object that they were portrayed as being involved in dangerous behaviors, despite the filmmaker's claims that the interviewed locals. My reaction was that one look at these kids would suggest most of them were involved in drugs, and some pretty self-destructive stuff. (I'm sorry, but if you're 16 or 18 and covering your skin with ink and piercings, and filling your body with pot and liquor, you're self-destructive.) The locals can't even admit these issues to themselves. There seems to be a real problem with this area. I understand there is boredom and poverty. I get that. But for God's sakes, people, stop pretending. STOP PRETENDING. Pretending will never prevent anything in the future!
