It really surprises me that with Ace Combat, Tekken, Project Soul etc still doing well, that Ridge Racer somehow got left behind. We are so overdue for a new try at the "cinematic racing rpg" too. How cool would a Real Racing Roots '25 sequel be? Throw in stuff like Persona's social links, a car development and team development system, branching story paths. It feels like we're so close with Grid Legends and NFS Unbound. Perfect time for Namco to show them how it's really done.
This by far my favorite Gran Turismo 7 video on youtube. This is literally me every day I play GT7. I put my wireless headphones in and blast R4s ost for every race. I made a Ferrari 458 Italia into the RT Solvalou from the opening movie. R4 is easily the most memorable PS1 racer Ive ever played

Ridge racer type 4 will always have a special place in my heart. Not too long ago I picked up a CIB ps1 copy at my local annual retro convention and it will always be a prized possession of mine.
When in 1998, Ridge Racer Type 4 respected almost more/same as Gran Turismo 1 or 2. Namco almost had it! Also, I myself created liveries on GT Sport mostly for RTS on only Italian (Super)cars. You can probably check them.

This is fantastic!! So iconic!! Ridge Racer Type 4 (PS1)/Ridge Racer 2* (PSP) was peak Ridge Racer for me, not really enjoyed the games that followed. *RR2 on PSP had all the tracks from the original PS1 games including Rage Racer and RRT4 remastered in slightly better quality... for it's day.

Ridge Racer 2 PSP is coming to PSN. It contains all the tracks of Ridge Racer, Ridge Racer Revolution, Rage Racer, Ridge Racer Type 4 und Rave Racer.
