I took my 2003 version out watching this video and mine doesn't have a lot of gloss??! Guess I got lucky! The gilding has stood up but the deck doesn't sit as flat as it used to. Slight bow. Great deck, love the images and the colors. Thanks for showing the new version and the linen finish.
I was able to get this deck thanks to you. I was looking for it everywhere and only Oneness Emporium had it in the UK, really lovely presentation how they sent it too. 😊
The boxes are identical. even the ISBN which is the identifier, ( usually changes for each edition) is the same . I can now breathe knowing everyone is getting the correct deck
I purchased this deck when it came out 20 years ago and I too thought it was stiff and difficult to work with so it was eventually rehomed. Even though I have deconstructed I have always loved the Renaissance style images. Just purchased it and am so excited to work with these cards now. Once again, Thank you Simon!!
Just an aside...one of my siamese cats adores the packing chips that oneness emporium send..he has his own box of them and chases them madly around. No other packing chips are interesting, according to Valentine
Hi Simon, thank you for this walkthrough. I love the deck, it's gorgeous! I don't mind the gloss in this particular deck, though. I'd love to feel that linen texture if I had the chance. I've got to tell you that I have the glossy edition, which I got 5 years ago, and the box has the logo with the silhouette, so I believe that there's no way of knowing which cardstock you'll get. Unless you buy it now directly from us games, of course. Enjoy the beautiful deck! Think we're all deck snobs around here😉 Thank you! Blessings🌈
sorry for the random question but i was reminded of papa squirrel and just wonder if anyone know what happened to him and his channel? he was really popular a while back and i found him funny =)
Naaa, you're not a snob Simon, more like a connoisseur... who's just a tad fussy about glossy decks 😄. I'm thinking about getting the linen one too, for the same reason, from the same place 👍
Oooooooh! I'm torn. I originally had a matte version and loved it, but preferred the glossy one which I traded with Chris Yow for and still love it because it reminds me of classic art masterpieces in museums in gold frames with clear varnish or glass coatings to protect the canvases. But I do think I'd love it even more if the linen texture felt/looked like the canvas that old masters were painted on. Now...I wonder if the texture of these new cards is a rough enough canvas feel to suit me (deck snob too.lol.) and also I wonder how to be certain I'd be receiving the right edition. I guess there's no point in ordering off Amazon, but maybe, like you said, ordering directly from U.S. Games. I'd order from Oneness Emporium, but it feels silly to order delivery from UK for something she sent to US for. What to do, what to do. Maybe I'll wait to see a copy firsthand and test the texture before buying.
If you live in the US absolutely order from US games . It would not be very environmentally friendly for me to send back to the US and it would work out expensive for you
I waited to get the Golden Tarot until the new linen came out and had heard from others that they received the new one from Amazon (in the US). Didn’t work for me! I got an obviously retuned deck from someone likely looking for the same. US Games has the linen version listed as such, so I ordered direct and just paid shipping. Worth it!
Very nice Simon 😊I would really like that in the linen cardstock. I looked on Amazon USA and it says it is linen but it also says it is the first edition so i am not sure what to believe. I guess i could send it back if it isn't linen. Another time i wished i lived in the UK 🥰Thanks so much for showing us 🌞🌞💘💘
I like the glossy for the art, but I would love the linen for actually use. This is where the rubber tends to meet the road with tarot collecting. Use is much different than art appreciation. 7 years?! Wow!

Enjoy the reconnection 😍
And yet, the copyright is still on the front! 😭😭 This would have been an instabuy, otherwise 😫
I can confirm that people in the US who order direct from US Games will get this lovely new linen version. Mine arrived last week, and it is glorious.
I love it 😻
I just bought it in sg !!! Thank you so much ❤❤❤
No problem 😊
just ordered from Oneness Emporium as these are gorgeous !! Thank you Simon ❤
You’re welcome. Enjoy this beautiful deck 😍
I love this deck and I have a really nice matte edition that I cherish. I think it was an early release.

Aaawww

Good to know 🙏🏼
I have the matt first edition and it is beautiful. The touchstone first edition is one of my favourite decks. Maybe I need the linen one too x
It’s a tough one! Is the Touchstone glossy?
@@the_hermits_cave the new one is but the first edition is matt
@@teapotsandtarot Why on earth would they do that!

No idea, sorry
Looks awesome. Fine new pack )) t y

It’s not a tough linen finish, it’s very soft. Beautiful though. 😍

Some of those packing peanut things are now water desolvable.
Where can I purchase in Singapore?
I’m sorry but it’d be impossible for me to answer that as I’m not in Singapore

Oh no! 😣

IKR? Where has the time gone?
I love all 3 of my versions of the Golden Tarot. But the glossy edition with the hard finish has special place in my heart
New linen???? Oh yes!!! ❤
This was my go to decks during the 2000s. I love medieval art so this deck really speaks to me.
It’s a classic for sure. Over the moon with this version. 😍
Looks yummy!!💛💛💛
So thrilled to have this version! 😍
