The care and time that went into creating and editing this video really shows, Sharla! I love these kind of your videos. I've come to realize that I would really love to visit Japan because of your adventures!
I appreciate Sharla's positive attitude about everything and excitement at everyday things like, "LOOK THE WATER IS SO CLEAR".... its so cute tbh and no wonder why her life is great
I absolutely love traditional Japanese music, especially shamisen. There's just something in it that makes it extremely pleasing sound for me... and for a some reason after a while of listening to the shamisen in this video the music started to sound like the shamisen was sayin "mamma mia, mamma mia" over and over again :D
The lantern floats look so amazing!!! The lady playing the shamisen seems so skilled, it sounds so beautiful! Japan is definitely the number one place I would love to explore, it has so much to offer. Thank you for making these videos!
Looks like a beautiful and relaxing place to visit. Hopefully someday I'll be able to visit Japan. Until then, I will live vicariously through your videos. Can't wait to see part 2!
Oh no! I've been waiting for weeks for these videos so I could have good ideas for my trip, I go to Aomori tomorrow! Wish I could see part 2 now! Still plenty of great ideas though, thank you Sharla 😊🍁🍎
Ah! I saw the Nebuta festival in Aomori in 2013 and it was one of the best experiences I had while living in Japan. The music is so beautiful! And the floats are gorgeous as well!!
Wow!! You just gave me another place to go to!! The view just from the bus to the waterfall was amazing!! I love nature and I feel like I would cry with how beautiful it will be in person!! LOL I am planning a trip out to japan for our honeymoon next year for two weeks, so i hope that is plenty of time to visit the big cities and these hidden gems as well! Thanks for sharing these videos!! You're helping me write up my list of places to go!
This video was so amazing! The waterfall was beautiful, and the river looks SO much like the one we pass by going to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The food, though! Now I’m craving apples and corn, and thankfully I have both in my kitchen right now, so I know what I’m eating today!
ur adventures are always so amazing i would love to go someday!!! you always take such care and take time in what you show whenever you visit different places!!!! ty!!
This video was exactly what I needed to help me wind down after a long stressful day! Always a pleasure to watch any video you make Sharla. Thanks for sharing such beautiful and interesting things with us. Can't wait for the next one 😊❤
You finally get to my "Most loved area" of Japan; Lake Towada. I spent three years in Northern Japan (my father was posted to Misawa AFB) in my high school days. The area has spectacular views through out the year. It is so neat to see a place I have been (and loved) high lighted on your vlog. You do a great job with your filming and story telling. I especially like this type of vlog (travel/temple/park) over your other videos. (don't get me wrong, I like those too; but this type is more gratifying/emotional). It feels like we, your audience, are right there with you at every step; like a teacher/tour guide. I have experienced alot of new things through your videos and it has brought alot of joy and happiness. My father was in the military for 24 years and I have been back to every "duty station" we ever lived at except for the three years in Misawa. I don't expect to ever get back. Being in high school at the time (back in the stone age when I was in high school), I did not in the least appreciate what a gift Japan could have been. Times are different now and I am learning so much from you (and a few other jvloggers) about all of the things I missed out on. THANK YOU so much for allowing us the viewers to come along on your journey through Japan/Life.
Wow, thank you for sharing! Wish everyone wasn’t so consumed with technology these days. Everything looks meticulously made and clean. So clean you can lick the sidewalk ... well maybe not lick the sidewalk but definitely that apple serbert ice cream.
Sharla, your editing has vastly improved even from last year. I don't mean just the techniques but the overall story-telling arc. I only wish they were longer or at least linger longer at important views. Looking forward to part 2.
+Shin Kansen I’ll try to do that! :) I always struggle with how long to focus on something, I always worry if I make one clip too long that I’ll bore everyone.
No need to make everything longer, just the payoff shots. The waterfalls, the main view from the top of the mountain, the strawberry for the first time, the food at the restaurant, the shamisen player, the kimono dress, the concert stage. Right now after you build small steps to get to the money shot, then you just brush by with a quick panning shot or a jump cut. It's too abrupt. Jump cuts are okay for music videos but not vlogs. Instead linger a few seconds longer. Let the camera's autofocus catch up. Don't feel pressured to fill the voids with your voice or music or external audio during post. No need to pan or hover over the scene. Just those extra seconds will add a punch to your vlogs. Cut out all distractions in the viewframe. No movement, banners, overlay titles, or any other distractions during the payoff scene. You worked so hard to get there, why not savor it? Your vlogs have potential for great punch. You build the suspense well. All's that left is a worthy finish. Hope this long comment was not boring.
Whenever i visited japan, i would only get to explore the southern part of japan. Next time i want to explore the northern part it looks beautiful nd breathtaking!
Aww, you made me miss Aomori... (people should also visit Wasao when they go there!) I love all the apple things. They actually brought some goods from Aomori to Uwajimaya in Seattle, so I was lucky to relive Aomori a bit when I visited Seattle.
Hey sharla! I love all your adventures and have made me put Japan on my bucket list . It's pretty pricey from Canada but I may go soon. Can you do like a top favourite places you've visited in Japan video in 2017 or something ??? :)
Ahh! I loved Nebuta, Oriase, and Towadako when I was there last fall. You brought a lot of good memories back. What did you think of Ishigedo rock formation along the Oriase! Oh, loved the soft serve apple ice cream there too!
I mainly passed through Aomori to get to Hakodate, but I did visit the Sannai Maruyama archaeological site. That was a lot of fun. But it was the one rare year when it was super hot in the north T.T
Thank you for uploading this video. I was just having a worst day ever since I discovered my friend was talking smack to me after he blocked me on Twitter and..you know, some drama. And then I saw your video. Your smile and your positive attitude toward Japanese culture, which is my background, just brightened up my mood and I can't thank you enough for that. I was crying because of the sadness but now I'm crying because I'm too glad to hold tears after the brightening. I'm so happy that I had subscribed to this channel. You're blessed for good, Sharla. I'm sorry that this may sound heavy but, I just wanted to say thank you. 謹んで御礼申し上げます。
I'm so sad you only spent one day in Hokkaido considering it's the largest prefecture and has 6 national parks. I live in Hokkaido and even after 2.5 years I've only seen about 3/4 of it. It's like the Alaska of Japan.
I knew you were in Aomori on Instagram but I didn’t know you were in Lake Towada too...I work at the tourist information center there...really wish I could see you in person😭💗 Been watching your blogs since you first started😘 Heaps love xxx

When the musician starts playing, is anyone else reminded of Kubo and the Two Strings? Gorgeous!

Wow, the landscape is so amazing!
Everything is so beautiful. Also, all the food looks so delicious! Especially the grilled mochi.
+Kawaii Vikki the mochi was great but the corn was my fave😍
The corn did look delicious too. ☺
That place looks beyond gorgeous. Ther's so much beauty all across Japan!!
Sharla always getting excited over vegetables is the cutest thing ever 🌽
The shamisen is one of my favourite instruments in the world, and the singing that goes with it is so cool
sharla I absolutely love your vids :) they always inspire me to go backpacking through the whole of japan :D it's so lovely

I really want to visit northern Japan. The gorge area looked so gorgeous. I love forests and moss and stuff like that.
I think I remember Eric going to Aomori in his hitch hiking series. So cool to see your perspective and experience. Can't wait for part 2!
I was stationed at Misawa AB a long time ago, I've been to that festival and Lake Towada. That region is absolutely beautiful.
it's so pretty there!!!

We have those mushrooms in Alaska! They are fun to step on but ours are way bigger. About twice the size of a 100yen coin
think this is first time I've seen corn on cob from Japan in all the videos I've watched between here, Simon / Martina, and Abroad.

+Horch Aw man, so sorry that happened to you :( I’m glad I could brighten your day❤️
Come to Okinawa!!! ❤❤❤
a nice vid to help me relax 💖
I'm so sad you only spent one day in Hokkaido considering it's the largest prefecture and has 6 national parks. I live in Hokkaido and even after 2.5 years I've only seen about 3/4 of it. It's like the Alaska of Japan.
+Colette saaame! I loved it there, wish I could’ve stayed longer. I’ll be back!
Colette it's too cold and snow is everywhere you can't stand staying there for too long
I would rather be outside in -21°C weather than trying to endure humid summer in Honshu. I take cold over hot any day.
I agree Colette, at least when it's cold you can wear an appropriate amount of layers... but when its hot and humid you don't have many options
Northern Japan just looks so awesome to visit, are you gonna try and go to the Sapporo beer festival in december?
Soooo beautiful. I’m very jealous haha. 😍
Yay Sharla!!
I need more mochi in my diet...That waterfall area was so pretty.
THE CAT CONDIMENTS AHHH 😍😍😍
2:18 "This ice cream is the only cup." gotta love the engrish :D
Omg look all so nice! And you legit made me hungry for some corn on the cob loll
I knew you were in Aomori on Instagram but I didn’t know you were in Lake Towada too...I work at the tourist information center there...really wish I could see you in person😭💗 Been watching your blogs since you first started😘 Heaps love xxx
I love watching your travel videos, you seem to have so much fun that I just want to join you
love your channel so much :3
Aomori is a place for me, I mean, APPLES.
And I loved the music ♥
