replace calcium with 'shell-ash' from either eggs or things like clams, oysters or possibly the exoskeletons of insects (like cicadas) and lobsters and crabs. I know the egg shell, oyster and clam shell are high in calcium carbonate. Otherwise, replace the calcium with bone ash
Joel, I'm trying to reduce iron to black bellow 1600 f. For a primitive pottery project. Any book suggestions ? Tips? Gas kiln in reduction, and open fire
Informative video. But leaving out details of firing type, application type doesn't lead to a title of how I glaze with wood ash. Maybe all that info is on another of your videos. Nice results though.
I am just starting to learn pottery.
Natural clay and wood ash glaze is very appealing.
Good video thank you.
It’s great that you keep the old traditions up and going! Great video Joel!
It's so interesting, really thank you for sharing your passion.
Would love to see a small series dedicated to this topic. Especially seeing how the book itself is going be difficult to acquire
So happy I found your channel
Thanks. I make good ashes heating my home (white oak this load)--still learning pottery!
I just stumbled across your video. It’s great and I love your well worn copy of Phil Rogers book.
Excellent information. Thank you ✌️
