well at first i must say i loved romanes solo stuff much more but after hearing it it about 20 times i must say that tchavolo's stuff has a lot more heart in it and i allways admired him as a person and off course as a amzing guitar player... man i would love to meet tchavolo and show him my version of minor swing! love that guy
@sagebuzz It just a case of contrasting styles, that's why these two make such great music together. Romane's style is quiet elegant and tasteful, and has more of a bop influence. More blue notes, more intervals. Tchavalo, is more rustic and less sophisticated in his phrasing, but plays with such expression! And he swings. In fact if his playing swung anymore he'd probably fall off his chair.
@Xiphosss Hey Xiphosss, I must have watched this video 2 or 3000 times. Its fantastic! After 4 years of hard (but fun) work I think I have improved enough as a technician to try and learn some of the solos. Do you have any advice you could give me about what arpeggios romane or tchavolo are using over what chords. Talking about the main theme, what is Romane playing over Dmaj, is it just a major arp? The E7 i think is diminished and what about the A7? Please help. Thanks
