Hi folks, worth mentioning after I installed NDI tools perfectly, there was no app in Windows Start menu called Virtual Camera. After hunting around I found here: C:/Program Files/NewTek/NewTek NDI 3.8 Tools/Virtual Input/NewqTek NDI Virtual Input.exe to be the same thing as what is mentioned in this video at 6:30ish - so maybe Virtual Input, has replaced Virtual Camera?
@@danielsmith1545 Virtual Input is what you're after my friend, it has replaced Virtual Camera. I've been using it perfectly as per this videos instructions.
Hi, I did all the steps and even got the NDI output but when I go into Skype, it wont show the camera output and was wondering if there are any solutions to this problem?
I'm unable to find a "Virtual Camera" ndi application... Is the "Virtual Input" the same program or could you provide a link for the above mentioned "Virtual Camera" application? thank you!
Yes, it's the Virtual Input app. It's called that on the download page, but after you install it, it's actually called Virtual Camera. I'm not sure why this is...
Really useful. The only thing missing is how to set up a ‘off air’ channel so you can speak with the guest independent of the production to tell them they are going live shortly?
My guess would be to set the audio to bus A without any audio going to the Master for your mic or the skype call.. When the skype call is active in the audio section, set the audio bus to A without the Master selected. This will allow you to talk "off air". Then switch it the Masters on when you are ready to go live. I have not tested this theory :)
You can still IM, they don't show up in the NDI stream. For more functionality, like talkback and color correction, you would need to purchase a NewTek or Quicklink Skype TX appliance.
Hello, i need your help on this, i follow everythinf that you said and it works fine but my problem is that when i do skype meet now and i link more than 2 participant, the audio starts to crack if 2 participant speak at the same time. Please what can i do? Thanks
You're just using the NDI output from vMix, then selecting that with the NDI virtual camera. Then in Skype you can choose the NDI virtual camera sources. Our KB guide goes through this step byt step- www.vmix.com/knowledgebase/article.aspx/99/adding-skype-calls-to-vmix-with-return-video-and-audio
Some people prefer to use Skype as it's something they're familiar with and their caller is too. It's also free, so people might choose to use this instead of upgrading vMix if they need more callers.
vMix is already a virtual camera. What's the benefit of connecting it to the Skype input via NDI as opposed to just using the built in "External" functionality?

Various software break the way they connects from time to time, so using the NDI tool with a proper driver works more reliably.
Yup, watching from the future, where Skype has forced a watermark over the NDI output. :(
