Moore said crews have lifted more than 120 containers off the Dali, making progress toward the goal to remove 140 containers. The governor's update comes as salvage crews were preparing to remove another massive piece of steel. I watched the very first video of the impact, and the first thing that crossed my mind was, "I hope those workers seen it coming and got off. but it was not meant to be. God Rest their souls now that he has them. and God help their family's and give them Privacy, and solace in their time of grief. I've watched the merging of entities converging on the removal of the bridge and the unity and professionalism is commendable. As an American, I am proud to see Americans come together like this when the need it there. God Speed ECF

      What is the purpose of bringing out a parade minions to stand around like goony birds. The governor is a grand stander, a typical politician always running for reelection.

    When is someone going to correct this governor? People say things because they think it sounds good. Why does he say "we pray for all of the victims"? Why would you be praying for the dead? "The dead know not any thing" Ecclesiastes 9:5b and the dead cannot do anything else (change their ways). The "only" polite thing to say is that the families are in their prayers continually during this difficult time. The governor needs prayer. Also, Ecclesiastes 12:7.

    I am opposed to a replaced outer harbor bridge. To many issues with today's super-ships.
    Unless a 4,000+ foot long suspension span is used to pass over waters 15+ feet deep. Probably closer to 5,000 feet to get it over all but the shallowest water.
    It doesn't need more than 4 lanes, AADT has been flat at about 31,000 since 2006.
    The latest bridges over major shipping channels are in the 215 foot vertical clearance range. That is 30 feet more the FSKB. A bridge like that would about 2 miles long to meet that profile, and with shallower grades maybe 2.2 or 2.4 miles.
    Costwise a 4-lane tunnel would be likely less than such a bridge. Tunnel approaches and causeways were built in the early 1970s, a tunnel was the original plan.
    They would need to build a 6,200 foot long tunnel and open approaches.
    My solution would be a tunnel as on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel and the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel and I-664 Bridge-Tunnel.
    No bridge over the shipping channel.

    I hate to tell you, but hazmat trucks of all types go through the harbor tunnel every day... all year long... for years! They even went through when Key Bridge was standing. I've been through the tunnel and seen placards with 1993, 1203, corrosive, etc every time I've gone through for years. When are you going to enforce that they're not supposed to use the harbor tunnel?

    • @fgerv
      @fgerv Месяц назад

      Could they be empty trucks? I believe they go through a truck weigh station before the tunnel.

      I agree we can’t name change everything the reason because most colonial era men of elite status had slaves we might as well change the state of Washington, Washington Monument, Our capital DC because of founding Father George Washington had slaves and Francis Scott Key had slaves we can’t change tht part of history it is what it is

      Francis Scott Key was an abolitionist.
      The replacement should be a 6,200 foot long tunnel (the original plan), so that there will be no bridge over the shipping channel.
      Like on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, over 4,000 feet of open waters and unlimited vertical clearance and no bridge structure that can be bombed or hit by ships.
      It should be named the Francis Scott Key Tunnel.

    • @fgerv
      @fgerv Месяц назад

      @@scottkozel1519 Agree on the tunnel but not on the abolitionists claim unless this is wrong “n 1816, Key helped found the American Colonization Society that promoted the emigration of African Americans from the United States to Africa. His family were slave owners and Key personally owned slaves until he freed them in 1830. As Attorney of DC, he prosecuted abolitionists and supported strict slave laws.”

    • @fgerv
      @fgerv Месяц назад

      There is already a Francis Scott Key Bridge. The name may not be an issue as it may never be rebuilt. The original bid was for a tunnel. The committee decided to place a navigational hazard in the spot. Look at the tunnel that is being constructed near Norfolk for the way to do it. The equipment and know is close to Baltimore by barge. Politicians are only saying what they think you want to hear and seem to be clueless in this case.
