In german France is still called Frankreich which litteraly means frankish empire/empire of the franks.
@@volcanares9620 I'd agree, but I've even seen French people get mad if you call them Franks or if you start any history thing about France with the Franks.
As the word evolved this people is now called french so that's the way you should call them now, like you will call the country France or the french republic and not the french empire, the french kingdom or the frankish empire. If some french people are mad about that it's also because a lot of them don't know much about history, and like anyone they can make mistake, and there is also some idiot people like everywhere. In french school, children are taught that Clovis is their first king.
I've always thought it would be helpful if during these videos Tigerstar indicated certain important historical events that are causing the crazy map changes (ex: 100 years war, French Wars of Religion, Napoleonic era). These might be obvious for some, but for more casual history enthusiasts it would make the videos a lot more clear.
Good work for making this video 👍
France is interesting.
(Also tigerstar is great character from Warriors)

Croissants comes from Vienna (Austria).
@@himlingpatrice That's right but they made cheep croisants. Autria/Austrian was a bit "poor" / less rich as the France after Turkish wars and this time butter was expensive. Also when it's arrive in France that was a fun cook but not so funny. In France they had money and lot of cows so we had ad lot of butter to have what we know today. A good croissant made with 2/7 or 1/3 of butter ^_^
@@azx43
You are right. But, anyway, in french, croissants are part of what we call Viennoiserie (from Vienne, french word for Wien).
If french food is one of the best in the world, it's because french adopt good foreign recipes.
I would like to see The History of Japan: Every Year.
Me too
Literally the same string of islands until WW2 ?
I might be missing something but it shouldn't be too far. Japan has done more defense than conquest over its history.
Awesome video. Please do one on the rise of the Grove Street Families in San Andreas. A lot of history there.
GREAT WORK!
Great work as ever.
Great video, even if some events happen too fast (a "slowmo" there would be convienent, specially for Third French Republic and WWII)
Thanks! Amazing video! :D
High quality as always
Vive la France ! (PS : on dit "omelette au fromage" , pas "omelette du fromage"... Xd)
the only mistake I noticed is that Fallières is listed as president from 1906-1920, when he was only president from 1906-1913. Raymond Poincaré was the president from 1913-1920
Good job!
Jacques Cartier made his first voyage across the Atlantic in 1534. He called it New France and corrected the name on his next voyage to Canada having spent time with the Huron natives.

Daily reminder that the Angevin/Plantagenet crown is French as well so the losses at 0:46 to 2:05 which Basically is the Hundred Year War is pretty ambigous. All Angevin possessions in France at that time WAS part of the French Realm. Only the English possessions wasn't.
Also, had the Angevin won the Hundred Year War. France and UK would have been unified into a Frenglish Realm with Paris as Capital.

La franc-maçonnerie existait déjà sous l'Ancien régime et comportait bon nombre de personnes de la Cour et de l'entourage du Roi.
Maintes personnes contre-révolutionnaires et émigrées furent franc-maçonnes.

can we get F's in the chat for our fallen boi notre dame?
f
I think notre dame is in good hands, given how french people (and also other people) donated a lot to rebuild the burnt part.
Still a pity that a 800 years old wooden structure just became ash. I didn't even know wood could last so long.

there is an error, Brittany is only annexed to France in 1532 sorry for my english level i'm french
That was the one error I couldn't explain. Your English is fine by the way.
I suppose it's because of the vassalage. While Brittany was functionaly independant, it still was tied to France by vows, and the duke was a peer of the kingdom.
Nice!
Happy 4/20 everybody!
