I saw this movie as a teenager on late night television (Sundance channel I believe) and I spent forever trying to find the name of it, fast forward to internet and RUclips and here we are. Crazy film

Master Yasuzo Masumura, once again, explores about the desire and sin through the beautiness of the female body, worshiped more in spiritual terms than just physical. And here the disturbing and almost surreal atmosphere where he take us is also important.
Something between Nagisa Oshima, Yoshishige Yoshida and Hiroshi Teshigahara, we are like the model of the film, we have come into the realms of a sick nightmare while a love story is developed born from pain and suffering, jealousy and the pleasure of feel, beyond the darkness of blindness.
One of the most courageous japanese movies ever made...sadly, not very known...

So I’ve been unsure what this movie was for the better part of 15+ years I’m so glad I finally solved what it was. I woke up to it on IFC or skinamax in the wee hours and the intrigue that flooded me out of curiosity blew my mind. Unfortunately I was so out of it though at the same time I didn’t bother to look for the name of it but now this is one more thing I can check off my list❤

Back in the early 00s while working the nightshift 7 on/7 off i would binge watch TCM and rent all kinds of DVDs from Netflix. Man, the stuff before my eyes was incredible and this movie was one of them. I was not disappointed to say the least.

Been searching for the name of this movie for like 15 years. I watched this all the time as a kid (along with ichi the killer) and i couldnt remember this movies name. It was only thanks to chatgpt (and your video too) that i was able to confirm this was the movie.

Man, try Masahiro Shinoda's Shinjû: Ten no Amijima (1969), highy inventive and unsual storytelling,
