  • Modern tanks are expensive and powerful equipment on the battlefield. But are they still useful? Even the very word 'tank' makes infantry uncomfortable, and it is pure horror when a tank rides into the trench. See more in the new episode of War Is Algebra.

    The T-64, especially the upgraded Ukrainian version is a more advanced and sophisticated tank than the T72 but its production was more complex and expensive.The T-72 was developed as a simpler and cheaper alternative to the T-64. While the T-64 was more advanced in some aspects, the T-72 was easier and cheaper to produce, making it suitable for export and for equipping the armies of the Warsaw Pact nations.
    Interestingly, it was designed and developed in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

    • @TankandDimples
      @TankandDimples 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@nataliiateteruk585 yes, the way the Russian autoloader works determines where the munitions is stored. It is directly underneath and around the crew. I also said blowout panels like the Leclerc, Abrams, and Challenger have on their autoloaders. So it blows out the side not in the personnel compartment. These are all things the T-64 doesn't have which is why it doesn't turret toss, which is the topic we are speaking on. Not whatever rebuttal you are trying to bring.

    Improved Ukrainian T64 appears superior in every respect to captured Russian T80, except for forward speed and prettier paint job. The latest versions of Ukrainian T64 modernization with the NATO equipment must be the shiz. Understandable if drone integration capabilities are not revealed at this point.

      Before the full scale invasion russian tank crews said that the T-64BV of Ukrainian modification was better than their T-72B3. It has a navigation system in it as well which most of Russia's tanks don't have. Shame that Ukraine never got to produce the T-84 on a larger scale, I'm sure that when Ukraine gets the chance to produce a tank whenever it may be they will produce probably one of the best tanks in the world that has the features of western tanks like higher protection in general but also ammo protection and better mine protection, I'm sure that Ukraine will take all of the good features from leopards, abrams and challenger.

      @@lostpony4885 that is a common design feature for Russian tanks except for the most recent, and a real downer if the opponent has atgms. It would be best to have NATO tanks but there are not enough, so the modernized T64 appears to be the least bad option.

    Not the first tank with an autoloader, rather the first serial-production Soviet tank with an autoloader. The French AMX-13 had an autoloader and started serial production in 1952. But even before that, many countries had developed autoloaders in their prototyping. The French Batignolles-Chatillon Char 25T had an autoloader as did the US T-22 tank and German Spähpanzer SP I.C. though it none of them went into production.

    I'm sorry, but I have to make another comment. I think someone has blown smoke up the butt of this soldier. Something I recognize since I'm ex-military and had plenty of smoke blown up my butt when I was in.
    The KBA3 125mm gun is a copy of the old Russian 2A46-M1 gun designed for the T-80 and retro-fitted to the T-64BVM 'Bulat'' and while the metallurgy is probably better in Ukraine, the gun is inferior to the western 120mm. Our Western guns are designed to be capable of withstanding much more pressure, which gives our rounds higher velocity, better accuracy, longer range and better penetration. The T-64's ammo is good for 480mm of RHA penetration at 0 degrees. The obsolete US M829A1 does 660mm. The DM43A1 used by Germany & France does 550mm. The Koreans have a 125mm round that does 720.

  • @bjorngrewe1980
    @bjorngrewe1980 6 месяцев назад

    I don't see the relevance of stating the maximum range of the main gun (10+ km) unless you want to use the MBT as an artillery piece instead of as a tank!?! 🤷🏼‍♂️
    I have seen an interview with a Ukrainian commander of a Leo 2A6 who had previously worked with a T72 and who was happy to be able to engage targets effectively at ranges of up to 3000 m instead of about 1000 m with the T72 due to the vastly superior optics an sensors (especially the IR-targeting system).
    This is not to say that older tanks like the T55s and T60s or the Leo 1 don't have any value: Having an old tank beats having *no* tank any day 😉
    And you have to remember that the main workhorse of the Russian tank force, the T72, is a scaled down "budget"-version of the T64 😅
    Nevertheless I'd expect *relevant* facts in a video like this instead of trivia found in a childs cardgame 😂😂
