I've played around with all of the adjustments on my bike and what surprised me the most was saddle position. Moving the saddle back just 10mm cured my hand/wrist pain and I had to adjust it to an ever so slight nose up to keep me from having that sliding off feeling. Those chamois riding shorts are slick!
I started riding with my saddle tilted slightly upwards a couple years ago. It just helps make your butt sit on the widest part of the saddle, which is where its supposed to be instead of putting all your weight on the nose of the saddle.
Since Doddy left Isaac has quickly become my favourite presenter. The man certainly knows his stuff, plenty more from him please GMBN! Would like to hear more from him on suspension tuning.
Well spoke, Isaac. Understanding how fore & aft saddle position and saddle height can affect back pain, numb hands, etc. has always been tricky for me. It seems a bit counter-intuitive. That would be a great topic to focus more on.
Clear tips given on fork setup; really helpful as I'm currently working through the various settings on my Fox 34 grip2 forks. All a little bit intimidating with the wide range of settings available, but breaking it down, keeping it simple with as Isaac suggests one click at a time really helps.
Some very good information in this video mate. Funny how I see so many newbies riding such ultra-wide bars and laughing at them...😂 cycling no matter what discipline it is is all about physics and biomechanics. Not enough riders understand that even a fair amount of experienced veterans. The amount of bad advice given out from from riders and shops is staggering😅
Great video! Only one comment to add to the low and high speed damping circuits that you came so close to touching on. The intermediate value theorem not only applies to the transition from compression to rebound but also to the transition from low speed to high speed. To activate a high speed circuit you have to pass through the low speed circuit first. So in a high speed compression event, the low speed circuit will be activated at the beginning and end of stroke for both the compression and rebound portions of the movement. (order of events:0, lsc, hsc, lsc, 0, lsr, hsr, lsr, 0)
What am I doing wrong? Saddle position; Doddy said to have your saddle pointing slightly down to assist your sit bones. I’ve tried doing that with my saddle, but everytime I loosen it and position it, then tighten everything up again, it’s horizontal yet again!
I might actually give your brake lever advice a try. I usually run my levers VERY low, but I recently got an I-Spec EV XT shifter which attaches to the brake lever and currently with my lever so low it makes the shifter levers sit really high and it's uncomfortable to shift, having to bring my thumb up so high.
#askgmbntech Isaac, regarding cleat position, I'm relative new to clipless and currently running mallet-e LS and regular on both bikes. Playing around with q-factor position on my shoes since i started experiencing knee pain at the very top of my kneecap just below the femur. I've tried the setting up cleat videos here on the channel but cant seem to shake the pain. It feels relatively comfy now with the widest q factor and slightly turned outwards since that seems to be my "default" foot position. But the pain still comes in full strenght after a day or so riding. Any how, any pointers or recomendations to be made? Many thanks! /Andy
These heavy nerd out videos are great, true quality.
Great video, I finally understand compression dampening!! Thanks for giving me the confidence to play around with my suspension setup.

Ooh thanks great tip, I will give it a try.

Another thoughtfully constructed video Isaac, great job!
Great vid too Isaac. Thanks mate👍
Finally video for advanced rides... Thx 4 content.
Well done Isaac! Useful stuff you've covered based on personal experience!

Great tips Isaac! The compression and rebound discussion is very helpful. Thanks!

Nice one Isaac, you've slipped into "what was his name again, oh yes, " .... Doddy's roll just perfectly :-) !
I might actually be able to setup my shocks better! Great explanations of rebound/compression/fast/slow etc!
Give it a go and let us know if it works out! 👌

Tilt the saddle then tighten the front bolt a lot more before tightening the rear bolt
Very well done, thanks!

Yes, I miss Doddy; but, very nice job of covering 6 important setup items Issac!!
Thank you 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡
Super helpful!
Loving it. Nice video

Thanks, I’ll try that and see if there are any local fitters near me!
Regarding pads, no, ive been running the same old.
1:49 frame flex... keep that in mind
Yes please for more maths content!!
Come on we now have Anna which is a great addition. Isaac is too. New faces new personalities new dynamics.
Beautiful bike
Great video and yes more maths please!
Haven't seen Isaac in a while
I went for a longer dropper post
I leave my brake leavers a little loose so I can adjust them on the fly... and they dont break when I crash 😅
I've heard of alot of people doing that especially people who race so it's not uncommon.
Wheres doddy gone😢
to a new job
he got a job with a frame manufacturer. i can't remember which one but he's now helping design frames.
Works for Mondraker now I think
not the same without doddy, i'm out.
You’ll be back
Your loss.
I miss him too, people come and go🤷♂️
Good info but very dry and monotone presentation. Miss Doddy
Won't be the same without you
