India's Defence Ministry has reportedly cancelled a deal to acquire 400 drones. The deal was signed with a company based in the city of Chennai. However, multiple incidents took place involving an earlier batch of drones from the company. Upon investigation, the drones were found to contain components and electronics from China. India has a directive in place that forbids Chinese parts in security equipment. Why are Indian private firms working on drones for the armed forces using Chinese components?

This kind of thoughts and idea is the very reason why India can never be second China, not in a million years. Chinese government and Chinese people never complain any security issues about all the products from US and all other western countries that are hostile to China.

This doesn't sound like very good news: India's drone technology is still in its infancy, while China has some of the best in the world. Even the world's most powerful air force, the United States Air Force, is buying and using drones from DJI.
Of course, it would be ideal if we could make everything ourselves, but technological advancement doesn't happen that simply.
We mock China for the C919, the first narrow-body airliner they built themselves, saying it's an assembly of mostly western parts, but that's how they've been building their own technology, step by step. One day they'll be able to produce this without western help.

Can you provide me with the names of companies in India that manufacture indigenous components such as IC chips, resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, Zener diodes, transistors, MOSFETs, GaN transistors, LEDs, CMOS cameras, gyroscopes, gimbals, electronic relays, fiber optic cables, laser range finders, sonar sensors, coaxial connectors, military specification connectors, IPS display panels, and other similar parts? Any drone manufacturer in India would need a list of these indigenous parts suppliers to produce drones domestically, correct?
Space organizations in India use all these. I do not think they are importing from China. These are all traditional electronics and for civilian grade drones, you do not need exacting standards.
