@Allen And the worst part is, Bat Out of Hell is listed as a top 10 selling album of all time with over 40 million copies sold. The fact that it's a debut album and beating out greatest hits albums and such is astounding.
Why he wasn't pushed is beyond comprehension. Who cares if he's fat and ugly, the man could sing, had the stage presence, and sold records.

Please listen to "Objects in the Rear View Mirror" by Meatloaf. It's one I always found particularly powerful and engaging. I did not like Meatloaf much in his later years after his mind started to slip, but his music from this area is brilliant, and "Objects in the Rear View Mirror" is my absolute favorite track from his best album, Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell.

Meatloaf is one of the greatest 'showmen' to have ever graced the stage. Even when his voice began to fail him, he still gave 200% every gig. Saw him when I was a younger man, and always stands out as one of the best gigs, if not the best. (Equal tie with Fleetwood Mac?)
@MrLboydReacts - as you noticed with the lyrics, and being written by Jim Steinman - many many lines are either double meanings, or are 'cliche' written as lyrics. Steinman's songs are easy to notice once you know what you're listening for with his turns of phrase. One of my favourite lyricists ever. Meat Loaf never cheated you out of a great performance. Sometimes you just want to chuck everything, and this song expresses that frustration so well.
Next Meat Loaf songs for you to do are "Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are" (the official music video is a "must see" for your reaction), "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through" (I recommend the official music video for this one [with a young Angelina Jolie] as well) or "You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)" (live version).

My first ever gig was meatloaf when I was 9 in the late 90s still to this day when of the best I’ve been too
The entirety of Bat Out of Hell II, top to bottom, is phenomenal; there is not a single song that I would, today, skip on it. I remember buying it just to have I'd Do Anything For Love, and then getting just blown to pieces by every single other track on it; it was a sad day when we lost Jim Steinman...but then we lost the man that so perfectly brought most of his songs to life, as only he really could, when Meat Loaf passed. I don't think I've processed the loss I've felt since, and I feel lucky to have seen him perform at least once.
Any song on that album is worthy of doing one of these videos on, but I'd have to direct you to some of his lesser known works, like Read 'em and Weep, Dead Ringer for Love (which is a duet with Cher), or Couldn't Have Said It Better.
