- Mondays at The Enfield Tennis Academy, x2 LPs of long-form, lyrical, groove-based free improv by acclaimed guitarist & composer Jeff Parker's ETA IVtet, release date 2022-10-28. Vinyl available eremite.com CD-quality digital files via eremite records bandcamp. Recorded live at ETA (referencing David Foster Wallace), a bar in LA’s Highland Park neighborhood with just enough space in the back for Parker, drummer Jay Bellerose, bassist Anna Butterss, & alto saxophonist Josh Johnson to convene in extraordinarily depthful & exploratory music making. Gleaned for the stoniest side-length cuts from 10+ hours of vivid two-track recordings made between 2019 & 2021 by Bryce Gonzales, Mondays at The Enfield Tennis Academy is a darkly glowing séance of an album, brimming over with the hypnotic, the melodic, & patience & grace in its own beautiful strangeness. Room-tone, electric fields, environment, ceiling echo, live recording, Mondays, Los Angeles. Jeff Parker's first double album & first live album, Mondays at The Enfield Tennis Academy belongs in the lineage of such canonical live double albums recorded on the West Coast as Lee Morgan’s Live at the Lighthouse, Miles Davis' In Person Friday & Saturday Night at the Blackhawk, San Francisco & Black Beauty, & John Coltrane's Live in Seattle.

Love Jeff! His playing is so poignant to me. Not sure why but it gets me emotional. Definitely one of the greats. Will be picking this up on vinyl.

Lawd have mercy... Top Billing....
ong we shakin ass to this one
Amazing track!! I'm huge into many recent projects with Jeff Parker, from this solo album, to producing Anteloper, and working with Makaya McCraven and others. Wish the whole album were on here! I can't afford it in any format, even a digital copy is like $15 for the album 😭
I bought the album since commenting...well worth the price! Been listening to it daily.
yo! The title of this song is a reference to the tennis school in the novel Infinite Jest. That's my favorite book! This song is freaking dope, btw.
Thank you. I'm not connected well into the world of literature; you just put me onto something HUGE going by Benjamin McEnoy's YT breakdown. Just ordered a copy. I wonder if Jeff read the book (it is likely... something of a literal jazz masterpiece itself), or if it is pure coincidence?
Rhythms are insanely complex. That sounded like a 14 to 15 or something!
Is this only on vinyl?
There is a CD. Not for sale on the label’s site for some reason. You can find it on Discogs though.
