Thanks, this was one of my poorer attempts at soldering lol. You can see how I later tidied up the solder there on part 7 of the MVS consolization.

i just got i neo geo mvs 1fs board for a good price!
i just plugged it in my arcade cabinet wich has a different mvs board in it
    and throws z80 error
there doesnt seem to be any damaged traces or anything?
although there is a spot where you are able to see the silver color of the traces instead of the green coating but the traces look intact.
could it be a good idea to do a little solder reflow?
if so where could it be good to start?
the battery was kinda leaking a little bit.
there was some white see through stuff on it like ice looking almost no damage to the board though.
i have to remove the covers on the underneath side of the board to check that side!
    thank you for any help

+ALAN DORAME The white stuff is from the alkaline damage - the chances are there are some damaged traces going to the Z80 work RAM or something. You could download the MV-1FZ schematics and check connectivity (with multimeter) between the Z80, its RAM, the YM2610 and where ever else the Z80 connects. Beyond that I would say your best is to swap out the Z80 as more often than not its the Z80 at fault. You could also program a copy of SMK Dans diagnostics BIOS onto a 27C1024 and swap out the BIOS for that diagnostics BIOS, and you would also then need to program his diagnostics M1 bios - stick that on a cart (in place of existing M1 on the game cart), and the diagnostics BIOS will then boot and use that M1 diagnostics ROM to test the Z80.

I have found some suspecious areas of concern. Os there any way i could send you poctures of it?
      Id appreciate it!
How would a bad trace normally look like?

Yes, should have identical connectivity regards Z80 though!

i really want to save this board! lol
if you were able to fix that glue board this should be fixable ahaha.
so you reccomend testing for connectivity first? and fix any traces without connectivity

I know this is an old video, but I still enjoyed it :) - question - on the AT27C1024 - thats a 1 meg rom correct? If they work on the Neo Geo - my electronics supplier has them for as low as $2 each - its pretty neat find.

Thanks! Some of my older videos are a bit cringy! Yes, I think an AT27C1024 should work for the BIOS on an MVS or AES.

It's worth noting that the Z80 error can relate to components other than the actual Z80 chip. It's worth getting a diagnostics bios and cart like I did, and then run that in order to see where to look. It could be RAM related to the Z80, or the Yamaha chip. It could also be a broken track! Worth checking for battery leakage first - most of the time these kinds of issues are caused by battery acid damaging tracks.
